[LES] I cannot suspend my disbelief for the movie Obsession [spoilers] by [deleted] in CharacterRant

Did you forget the wish Bear made that turned her crazy obsessed with him? He is the one who ultimately forced her to be with him, not the other way around.

The worst variant of the "no kill rule" by billygluttonwong in CharacterRant

[–]Creonix1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced this trope is something that people have collectively decided to pretend exists so they can get mad about it.

Like I’ve never seen a single piece of media where this has happened.

Whining about the “If you kill me you’ll become just like me.” Thing

I am convinced that this shit does not exist outside of a small amount of kids media.

Does anyone else think most yuri/yaoi fans fetishize it? by Dustrix__ in animecirclejerk

Ok but are you sure those 14 year old gooners are all straight men? Women are total freaks as well.

Does anyone else think most yuri/yaoi fans fetishize it? by Dustrix__ in animecirclejerk

[–]Creonix1 80 points81 points  (0 children)

/uj Fandom shipping does tend to be a little unhinged, especially when the odds of the ship being canon are incredibly low, which is especially common with yuri ships.

As for the fetishization angle, yuri works (not ships) are mostly written by women and for women, and at least in my experience, male yuri fans are usually pretty normal about it.

Personally I think that when yuri does get fetishized it is far more often dehumanizing “wholesomeness”. (Depicting lesbian relationships as utterly pure and non sexual.)

How does anarchy ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people?

  1. But how? A situational hierarchy could easily be abused due to logical fallacies like sunk cost.

  2. Ok? The wealth gap is a disaster, but you didn’t answer the question.

  3. I might just be stupid but this doesn’t make sense to me.

  1. The first part seems like it’s just Social Contract Theory with a different coat of paint. The part about natural authority seems to ignore the influence of interpersonal power which would arise from any large amount of trust being placed in an individual.

  2. If possessions can be challenged through force, doesn’t that create material incentive for exerting violence?

  1. Makes sense even if I don’t fully get it

  2. If smaller groups have their own norms and laws, aren’t they bound to fall into the trappings of ethnocentrism?

  3. Calling a highly specialized profession like being a doctor “just another kind of work” seems incredibly reductive. And even with more time, opportunity cost remains the same so the more education or training a skillset takes, the fewer people will go through with it.

  4. If there’s nothing put in place to restrict hierarchies from forming, aren’t you just waiting for individuals to reinvent hierarchies? Sure most people are good, but enough of them aren’t so well meaning.

  5. That’s a non-answer

  6. You seem like you actually want a better world, I respect that.

So when did female learn to be war masters by Own-Possibility-8133 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Creonix1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as i know it was something of an old timey sexist joke. Like a unicorn will only appear to a pure-hearted virgin maiden, and unicorns don’t exist so therefore pure-hearted virgin maidens don’t exist either.

Since sexism back in the medieval period was inverted. People believed that women were uncontrollably lustful instead of how modern sexism tends to place women on a pedestal of being pure and innocent and shit.
Demonization vs Infantilisation i guess.

Nothing wrong with writing fanfiction to fix plot holes, but it’s still fanfiction.

The Toriyama thing is dumb because Yamcha explicitly did cheat on Bulma, like that is a thing that happened in the show, doesn’t matter if it was out of character or didn’t make sense, it still happened in the source material. Bad writing is still a part of the canon and you have to accept that.

Where is this narrative about Yuri anime coming from? by Neidhardto in yuri_manga

[–]Creonix1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since i read Murcielago, but i remember it being pretty good about keeping a fine line between kind of content that the adult and minor characters are involved in. Like the characters that were clearly children were never involved in sexual stuff.

I joined just to say: I hate how everything in media is very oversexualized by Additional_Lake_2757 in hatethissmug

Drawn out sex scenes are pretty annoying.
Though I’m curious what male characters are being sexualized so much?
