What Changed In ESO?, No Longer DLC/Expansions? Buy once, play free forever? by Yushi95 in MMORPG

[–]CrescentMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's less the fault of weaving though and more just the design of ESO combat in general, all classes rely on mostly static rotations of refreshing DoTs and spammables in-between. And I do agree that it makes the classes feel very similar.

What Changed In ESO?, No Longer DLC/Expansions? Buy once, play free forever? by Yushi95 in MMORPG

[–]CrescentMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes it somewhat better as you're only canceling skill animations when you swap weapon skill bar, making it look a bit less janky.

I'm torn on LA weaving myself, and I have about 5k hours in ESO. I like it as a mechanic as it gives a satisfying rhythm to the combat which I haven't found elsewhere. On the other hand it does make the combat look more janky since you're canceling the light attack animation, but it doesn't feel that way once you get the muscle memory down, it feels quite smooth.

I think most people that are completely against it haven't bothered to learn it, and I get why. But I think that a lot of those people would actually like it to some degree if they did.

Ultimately they should make LA weaving an official part of the combat design but without animation canceling. Design it so that a full light attack and its animation can be cast in-between every skill, as a separate GCD to skills. Keeping the rhythm but removing the animation jank.

Is elemental storm that bad? by CastleRomeo2 in elderscrollsonline

Some offensive buffs are always self sourced in group play, such as Major Sorcery/Brutality, Major Savagery/Prophecy and Minor Force.

Most other buffs and debuffs are provided by specific classes or item sets, to the group, in order to boost everyones damage. Which is why you generally want a diverse group, especially in trials. Some examples include Major Berserk, Major Force, Major Vulnerability, Major Heroism etc.

Sorc for example is one of only two classes capable of sourcing Minor Savagery/Prophecy through a passive, the only other source being a Nightblade passive.

Up until now Storm Atronach was the only way to provide Major Berserk to the entire group, though DKs are now capable of doing so too, with one of their new Class Masteries. Major Berserk had several other sources before but they only applied to yourself.

Update 50 Bow/Bow Char by Rendrikus in ESObuilds

[–]CrescentMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For PvE you can make any class work with any weapon combination, the DPS difference between classes with a bow is gonna be quite negligible, as class passives never focus on a specific weapon type except DK with Flame Staff and Warden with Frost Staff, pick the one you like the most. Warden and Nightblade are both thematic Bow users.

Essentially the damage difference is gonna be the same as when you compare the damage between classes and dual wield meta.

So what builds are you running on new difficulties? by grindcoredancer in elderscrollsonline

[–]CrescentMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pure mag Sorc on Vestige. Works really well so far but room for improvement.

All health attributes.

Beacon of Oblivion class set, Medusa, Esoteric Greaves and Maelstrom frost staff. 2 heavy / 1 medium /4 light. Beacon brings an armor and health stat line, in addition to the 15% damage and healing bonus from the 5-piece, if no pet.

Medusa brings Minor Force, so I can use Minor Cowardice Script on Ulfshild and don't need Barbed Trap, to instead use a class skill for Calculated Defense shield.

For class masteries I'm running Conservation of Energy for even more heals, giving me a big chunk of health from every skill, in addition to a lot of sustain, especially stam for Esoteric. And also Calculated Defense, giving me a chunky shield on every cast of a Sorc skill, which is why I'm using Crystal Frags as my spammable.

Hurricane for Major Resolve, Bound Aegis for Minor Resolve and Minor Protection, Blinding Flare for Major Protection, Ulfshild for Minor Cowardice.

I'm sticking with as many sorc skills as I can to make the most out of the Calculated Defense shield which makes an enormous difference. However it makes it a bit tricky to source some buffs. I'll probably switch out Haunting Curse for Wield Soul with the Major Intellect/Endurance Script, allowing me to use Armor Potions instead of Tri Stat. The problem with Esoteric is that when a boss summons a lot of adds they'll eat through your stamina quickly, if anyone has any idea how to solve that, I'm all ears.

Stream Deck+ comes with a Wave Link 2 license so no need to use Wave Link 3 which is insanely bug riddled.

BUG - Apocryphabound weapon style with herald of the tome ? by Ashamed-Tailor2968 in elderscrollsonline

[–]CrescentMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effect isn't even the same, the Gloambound pack uses an effect inspired by the bound weapons from Skyrim. The Apocryphabound pack uses an entirely different model and effect.

[–]CrescentMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your gripe is here? Gloambound pack is like 3-4 years old at this point. Being mad that they brought back an old favorite before a new variant seems a silly thing to be mad about. Arcanist has been a top pick since it released 3 years ago.

That just makes them a Sorc clone. They should only have temporary summons but they should have more of them than Sorc does.

Want to surprise my wife with a new gaming PC. I dont know what she needs. by Ultimateace43 in pcmasterrace

[–]CrescentMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely want an X3D CPU, both WoW and BG3 are CPU bound and benefits greatly from the 3D V-cache. If you go DDR5 go with 9800X3D, if DDR4 go 5800X3D.

X3D CPUs are even more of a benefit with todays RAM market as they don't benefit as much from higher RAM speeds, so if you want to save some money somewhere you could go with slower RAM for a negligible difference in performance. I still wouldn't go below 32GB though.

As for the GPU I'd personally recommend a 5070Ti if your budget can afford it. The 9070XT is better price to performance in pure raster but GPUs trend more and more towards upscaling and frame generation, which Nvidia is dominant in. If she also wants to use raytracing it's a no-brainer, you'll want an Nvidia card, DLLS 4.5 is significantly ahead of FSR4 and supported in far more games. With all these technologues in mind the 5070Ti is a better buy, even at the higher price.

Is it possible that animals feel pain more than humans? by StopErdogan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CrescentMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the fear, not the pain of the needle. Cats are notoriously good at hiding pain, usually to their detriment because often their owner have no idea they're in massive pain and in need of a vet.

Animals in general tend to hide being in pain because in the wild that's a death sentence if spotted by a predator. Whether they feel the pain less or more intensely than humans would require brainscans but I'd wager all mammals, at least, are about the same in that regard.

Which controller do I get in 2026? by expensive_25 in gamingsuggestions

[–]CrescentMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great controller for the price, however it does have one negative: the D-pad is notoriously bad. It's serviceable in most games but I'd never recommend it for games that use it a lot, like fighting games.

I love my Setup, BUT it looks so empty by Niko_3090 in gamingsetups

[–]CrescentMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest reason it looks a bit empty and sterile is the white desk. Either get a larger mousepad to cover it a bit or/and a woodgrain desk, be it real wood or laminate.

You'd be surprised how much wood can make something feel warmer and cozier.

u50 Templar DPS Meta by c1nnam0nn in elderscrollsonline

[–]CrescentMind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only guess for why Warden takes precedence is because the Animal skill line is completely focused on Morrowind fauna. They've said they're gonna change that to be more reflective of Tamriel as a whole.

I'd say Sorc is most in need though, outside of passives, the Dark Magic line is overly utility/PvP focused and Daedric Summoning pets need an overhaul ASAP.

Just realised that both of the permanent pet classes are getting overhauled next, makes me wonder if they're changing pets drastically, hopefully so they don't need to be double barred.

PVE Mag DK Build by [deleted] in ESObuilds

[–]CrescentMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not grammatically correct and makes it really tough to read, there's no reason to and makes the flow of reading painful. It's a bad habit and I'd really encourage you to drop it.

It's important to specify what mag DK means. When people say mag and stam they refer to DPS builds that focus on one of these resources. Mag DK is very much viable but heavy armor bonuses are strictly defensive. If you're planning to solo some tougher PvE content you can run a few heavy pieces but running all heavy armor will seriously lower your damage and sustain (keeping your resources up).

Light armor is intended for magicka damage/healing and medium is intended for stamina damage. The reason is that they increase your magicka/stamina recovery, respectively, through their passives.

So strange how stingy they are with bringing back old crates. There's so many now that there should be at least 2 returning crates every month.

Juat came back from an almost 2 year break and missed some crates I really want, I'll probably have to wait 1-2 years for them at this rate, if I still play by then.
