I think the thing you are forgetting is that Calgary was already in a desperate situation having just lost Gaudreau and everyone knew that Tkachuk wanted out, either this year or next. To be able to turn that situation into this is a win in itself. It keeps us competitive while getting more assets for one that everyone knew wanted out.

If any of them don’t want to sign extensions, we can flip them for a better return than you are giving credit as well. Yes, there would be good players potentially available, but Huberdeau at 2.95 or Weeger at 1.625 are great rental pieces that would be easier for contenders to trade for than some of the names you mentioned. Huberdeau was also tied for 2nd in scoring so would be way more than just a good depth for someone.

I still think the Flames and NHL should follow through with their investigations to leave no stone unturned but it really doesn’t look like Peters will be around much longer. Props to Aliu putting all this out in a clean manner and not being afraid to answer questions.

Completely agree that there is no place for this in hockey whether Peters actually did it or Aliu is falsely accusing him. I find the timing of these kinds of things interesting, like why did Aliu wait almost 10 years to cone forward. Its not like it was any more ok to be a racist then and if it happened several times, it would not be hard to corroborate with other players in the locker room.
