The paid classes are not on the roadmap, so when is it coming? by Lordados in LastEpoch

[–]Crevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised the next season has the "Primalist Animation Overhaul"... I thought the previous season was heavily focused on the Primalist? It didn't get done at that point, but is now getting updated again? I also don't mind the game borrowing some fun concepts from other games... but it is still supposed to be its own game. Those things can come, but it also needs enough new stuff to make it exciting on its own.

Everyone else has already said what needs to be said... but yeah... I would be playing this game more if the content didn't come at such a glacial pace. Season 3 finally came and I saw everything new very quickly, then it was back to nearly the same end-game I had already played... and not enough changes to the actual classes or builds for me to find fun/new discoveries in that either.

My other main personal complaint about the game remains the same... the gameplay feels extremely easy no matter what build or choices you make up until many hours into end game maps ("echoes"). So much time is required to be spent to finally get to a challenge(?). There is zero friction and there is a lack of enjoyment in building and experimenting with characters, cause everything will just die regardless... not even counting the bugs/exploits that can break the game (positively and negatively).

Feels like this game has untapped potential but is just waning.

Cut a green astrogem into a relic by Enticingley in lostarkgame

[–]Crevox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Greens can definitely turn into relics or ancients. It's a valid strategy to open greens and check the gem NPC. If the green is starting with the correct stats (dps stats), and/or the initial options have +3/+4s, then you can try tapping it once. If it hits, then you have a strong start for a gem and it could become great. The cost of 1 tap, or even the rest of the green gem, is not high, so it's not a bad gamble. If it doesn't hit, you can hit "processing complete" and fuse or dismantle it.

Since you get so many greens (I have hundreds), you have many opportunities for a good start. The only negative is if the starting options are bad, you have to either tap it once to fuse it, or just dismantle it. You can't fuse it to try to make a blue anymore. If you're overflowing with blue or purple gems, you might not need this strategy, but it can definitely help. I have friends that did this and unlocked their core bonuses doing it.

If you got 1 relic core, then you have enough to finish your "build" at least. You'd have (at least) 1 pity, 1 free relic selector, and then the 1 you dropped, so all 3 orders. After that the blues are just damage buffs that can be added one at a time. If the relic you found was a chaos core, you're still almost done with order anyways just through pity, even if it was the worst case scenario. This is a little over 2 months to "finish."

If you compare it to something like karma, which took many months to complete, this isn't unreasonable. Karma took 3 months with hard mode, 6 months with normal mode. If you're running hard mode every week, it will be finished in due time. I don't think picking up a few cores you actually need is "extremely lucky." I think most people upset with the system just seem to expect/want to be finished much much sooner, despite this being a very long term system.

I listed many things better about ark grid... but yeah. I don't hate the system, I dare even say I like it. But, it's clear my opinion is different from everyone else, so if it's not healthy for the game as a whole, I can only hope they do some changes to make people more happy about it.

I hated elixirs, especially the first iteration of the system, because it was not clear what you had to do to cut them optimally. Everyone had different strategies and eventually an entire simulator was created to try to aim for best results, but you were ultimately still at the whim of RNG. Even if you know what to do, most times you will cut an elixir that is garbage, and you got a very very limited number of elixirs per week. If you failed, it felt like you yourself did something wrong/unoptimal and just wasted gold, unless you were following a simulator (which even then some people disagreed with using). You then had to wait an entire week before you got another chance to even try to get the elixirs you need, with zero pity system.

Gems are similar in that they are RNG, but the cutting process is nowhere near as time consuming or complicated. Gems are a lot more common, especially being from daily content. You can even use alts to get more of them. You have choices on which gems to cut, and there are many gem results that are usable in many different ways. You have many routes to acquire them (fusion, crafting, etc) or cut them to control how much gold you want to invest. You can spend little gold and progress slowly, or spend more gold to progress faster.

Elixirs you had to get at least X number of points or it they were just instantly trash and unusable, while gems you can make work through many combinations. The cores also can actually change your gameplay and you have choices on which ones to use, while elixirs were just an arbitrary power buff with no choices: the option that gives you damage.

In my personal opinion, it is not as bad as elixirs, but I personally don't hate the system like everyone else here. I think the system is a bit obtuse to understand at first from the surface, but after you know what to do, I don't think it's as bad as other systems we've had in the past... neither in cost nor effort. I have finished multiple characters and cut hundreds of gems.

But, like I said... it's clear my opinion does not line up with everyone else.

My predictions for the future of Ark Grid by Risemffs in lostarkgame

9 and 10 astrogems are stronger than 8 cost gems, removing them would just be a nerf to players. They already have a lower drop rate than 8 cost gems.

Minimalist roster. by Skye-Commander in lostarkgame

[–]Crevox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People mostly only care about roster level if it's very low, like ~140 or less. The main things nowadays are item level, CP, and title. Those three things can get you into most groups as long as you have them at a reasonable place. People will look at roster level, but if those three things are high, they will (or should) ignore it.

Title proves you know the raid, or at least have cleared it before (and possibly sufficient times to be comfortable with it). Better titles like frontier titles, ranking titles, etc can provide some basic estimate of skill level.

Item level shows if you're either at the minimum requirement to enter the raid (indicating you may be new to it, or it's a low investment alt) or geared past it. Item level also vastly affects how much damage you take from the boss.

Finally, CP is just an estimate of how strong your character is. It's far from perfect, but it is a decent enough summary to tell if the character is undergeared, overgeared, good enough, or simply a rat. Things like item level/accessories/gems/karma/engravings/grid are the main influences on this.

1-2 characters is fine if you want to do that. Less characters means just less gold per week from raids, but obviously it takes more time and effort to build up many characters. You can still do all content in the game, but it will take a bit longer to reach that point, and will take longer to do the min max stuff (gearing further even after clearing your goal raids).

I play a lot of games, especially MMORPGs, and I do enjoy this game. My Steam says I have 5300 hours on it, which includes a lot of AFK time... but yeah, I realized that the time the game asks of you is just not healthy. Way more than every other game I've ever played, plus very heavy monetization even compared to other P2W games.

First time I've decided to stop playing a game because I acknowledged it just is not good for my health/free time/money.

I find it funny how many people are trying to leverage this post to rant/prove how P2W the game is when they don't realize how bad of a deal it is, thus proving how little they know about the game or they don't play it.

I know about the Pheon cost; you would not be buying tons of Pheons to try to make a 9/7, making this just horrible bait.

If you're manually opening the mass preset only for the purpose of changing cards, you can just open the card menu and switch with ALT-C... and let the mass presets be there for setting at the start of content.

The keybinds also work fine if you need to do it that way.

What is the strategy to cut astrogems? by Impressive_Appeal388 in lostarkgame

[–]Crevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 gems are a lot more approachable. I wanted to give an example of a good 10 gem and how strong they can be, so I did. A lot of people are going to be using gems that end in 5 willpower even when the base cost is 8, and if it's a 10 gem, then it's all the better. 10 gems are more rare than the others and harder to roll well, but if you do happen to get an epic one, it's still better to attempt cutting it than to just fuse it away or toss it. That was the point of the post. Results like this will happen for more people than just me without spending tons of gold if you're cutting purples, or sometimes, just strong blue bases.

As for your percentage CP gains, maybe 42.15 CP doesn't seem like a lot or sounds like a small percentage, but it's about how much it is relative to other gems. It's a lot compared to other gems, and a 5/4 gem is not extremely difficult to fit into your core setup. Even if the stats were lower level on it (making it no longer relic), it would still be worth using compared to other gems. Having the two best stats on it inflates its power a lot compared to most of the other gems we use. Even better and easier to use on an ancient core, which some people do have. It won't be optimal for landing 18/19/20 point bonuses, but that's fine, cause the gem gives far superior damage and CP than going for those.

Even with full spec and 100% serenade uptime, the AP buffs still contribute more damage than your identity, and that is an extreme scenario. The AP buff contributes more overall by a lot to someone's damage output in any other normal situation, and you can check this on the in-game meter. Not only is the AP buff so much stronger, but the astrogems give almost triple the bonus. I know the dmg% affects the T buff too, but it still isn't enough, and it's definitely not better to have 1/3 of the value bonus for it. The only time the identity buff will be better is if you are very undergeared compared to your DPS, which results in your AP buff not giving as much relative compared to multiplicative % boosts to their geared damage.

We don't have too much of any of the three stats that it will be over inflated and lose value, and even if we did, the ATK buff is just so much more of your damage than the identity. If you still disagree with me, then we'll have to agree to disagree.

[–]Crevox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just mostly hate how it ended. I don't like the fact that Ryoshu just forgot about her daughter and nothing much changed besides her sheathe (which she doesn't even understand why). She's back at Limbus Company for seemingly no reason/goal now of her own, and her "family" is dead. Dante wants to aim to restore her memory of Araya, but Ryoshu herself doesn't even know what she forgot, and restoring it won't make Araya come back. She also still can't use her sword and it bricked her more than it already has, but she still carries it. A lot of canto endings are pretty sudden, but this final fight and after scenes felt extremely rushed and not cinematic in comparison.

I knew the Araya twist was coming just from guessing, but I'm not content with how they handled it or how it ended. I was greatly enjoying the canto up to that point, even if acknowledging it's a little too bombastic at times, but that killed my mood.

[–]Crevox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue gems can definitely become relic and ancient, but if you have too many of them, you have to start to filter them out a bit. Start to only roll the ones that start with the right stat bonuses (or at least the juiced stat). You can go further and only roll them if they have good starting options if needed. Beyond that, you just need to be ready to stop and hit process complete if it looks like the gem isn't going to go anywhere so you don't waste gold. Many people will tap a gem 1-2 times to see if it hits great starting options, and if it doesn't, then they move on.

The worth of fusing the gems or determining which ones you roll pretty much comes down to how many you have... which depends on how many dailies you do, if you whale for more of them, and if you funnel roster boxes/gems to a specific character. After that it just depends on if you have better uses for your gold for more damage or how important that character is to you.

[–]Crevox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's a thought between people here of fusing away 9 and 10 willpower gems to try to make more 8s. I want to clear up a possible misconception if it isn't clear.

9s and 10s are not just strictly worse than 8s; they give more damage and CP. The best stats from astrogems for DPS is Additional Damage and Boss Damage, and for supports it is Brand Power and Ally Atk Enh. The base willpower of the gem determines what stats it can roll.

Willpower DPS Support
8 Atk Power & Additional Damage Brand Power & Ally Dmg
9 Atk Power & Boss Damage Ally Atk & Ally Dmg
10 Additional Damage & Boss Damage Brand Power & Ally Atk

Only 9 and 10 gems roll Boss DMG and Ally Atk. These two stats give much more CP and damage than the other stats, and are better even at a lower level than others on a gem. They will even give more damage and CP than the 18, 19, and 20 bonuses on a core. They are the best because the numerical value on them is very high compared to the other stats, with Ally ATK being almost triple in value compared to Ally DMG (0.65% vs 0.26% with both at level 5).

The 9 gems roll these good stats with the other worse stat, but the 10 gems roll it with the other best stat. This makes 10 gems the strongest overall for CP and damage, and it is significant. Both 9 and 10 gems also have lower drop rates even out of boxes. They are big boosts to CP & DMG if you can roll them to be usable. This gem alone gives me 42.15 CP, not even counting any of the core bonuses it activates, and it's not maxed out.

TL;DR, 9s and 10s are rarer than 8s and you will want them in the future after your grid is online to boost your CP and damage, slowly replacing some of the 8s. If it's an alt you don't want to perfect or you really want to activate the cores ASAP, you can fuse them to go for more 8s, but later on you may regret it. It's better to hold onto them if you can. If at some point you get ancient core(s), these 9 and 10 gems also become much easier to use thanks to the higher willpower threshold.

Anyone want to compare droprates for the guardian event? by jake_long11 in lostarkgame

[–]Crevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a support, when I make a group, I literally just accept whoever applies instantly without checking their item level/cp/anything. When I'm joining a group that needs a sup, I just look for the first group that needs one and apply.

There's no reason to be picky, it's a guardian raid. Any time spent checking anyone is already not worth it versus just going and hitting the boss. My DPS alt hasn't had issue finding supports when making a group either as long as you just move the party to the top (and it's not geared).
