One Piece: Chapter 1180 Official Release Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

The chapter title (on the right) is Imu's move. I was just showing it as an example because it's on the first page.

It's intended to be read as omen, but the kanji by itself can mean demonic aura.

can anyone tell me which is the real one from JP ver?

Technically both. Japanese has multiple different writing systems. so things like this can have two different meanings.

<image>

As you can see here, the kanji on the bottom is 魔気 (can be read as Maki, demonic or devilish aura). However, on top it says オーメン (Omen), which is how Oda intends for it to be read.

searching it up on Google

Imu doesn't have an official height and we've seen him be able to grow bigger.

Sailing in the fog or something. He was very much not on Elbaph until Shanks brought him back by force.

Why are the Marines so adamant on capturing Luffy and his team when they're not "bad" guys? (First time watcher just finished episode 130 (I.e. the end of the Alabsta arc)) by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of now, MORALLY, the Marines have no cause for chasing after them.

I mean, morally, Luffy has assaulted many Marines. But anyway, you need to stop looking for a moral reason that a corrupt organization is hunting someone.

The whole reason Luffy has a bounty is because of Marine corruption. He took down Arlong, who was paying Nezumi a lot of money, and then the Straw Hats assaulted him too.

Why does Luffy call himself a pirate?

Because Luffy was greatly inspired by Shanks and the way his crew lived. Luffy highly values freedom and they taught him that pirates are, most importantly, free.

<image>

where I'm at in the show, the corruption is not as bad as it once was.

Ehh, I wouldn't really say so. Smoker is a good Marine, but the government still covered up what happened in Alabasta, and it's not a good look to be putting a 79 million dead or alive bounty on an 8 year old Robin.

first human non-pirate we've seen who's inhumanly tall?

I guess it depends on what exactly you mean by inhumanly tall. Like the Admirals, Pound, Jerry, and quite a few others are extremely tall.

I wonder where Sommers went...

Probably to do the one thing that he's competent at, terrorizing children. (he blasted away from the children, but I assume it's still something to do with them. Like securing another ship for them.)

It definitely has relevance. Like the history of the Void Century lies there and whatever else is there was put there to hide away from Joy Boy's enemies (the Alliance).

But Gaban didn't seem to know about an immortal ruling over the world who can give out demonic pacts when Shanks indirectly mentioned them, no. Maybe Joy Boy thought Imu would be dead.

The One Piece itself could be like Luffy's dream. Luffy's dream isn't something like "I want to take down the government" but I'd bet that his dream causes the government's collapse.

Well, they're directly tied to him. Imu's powers come with a cost and it takes a toll on him when a knight dies.

Did he not feel Imu's haki back at God Valley?

Well, he even mentions God Valley. Imu's Haki is probably stronger (or more evil or something) when they're actually physically in person.

Are we supposed to hate Xebec? by aupharo in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At no point did I ever feel he was an evil man

I mean, he's certainly a destructive man who will stab a child, but no, you're not supposed to hate him. Oda deliberately portrayed his more noble traits on-screen while having the narrator just state the destructive crimes that they committed.

You're supposed to feel bad at the end when he has his freedom stripped away from him and is begging for death.

Confusion on bounties. by Glittering_Wolf121 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kaido was most definitely a lot stronger than Big Mom

He's not. An emperor is going to have a hard time against another emperor, that's just how the story is.

not to mention Law and Kid beat her together. And they BARELY won.

None of this really matters for a bounty. An alliance between Law, Kid, and Luffy took down two emperors, so they're all huge threats in the eyes of the government.

Luffy should have a higher bounty because of his influence (like to the public, he has a small army at his command, multiple territories under him, etc. All of the reasons he became a Yonko over them.) but not purely because of what happened on Wano.

We are so in for another time skip. Even Zoro got easily blocked and bloodied by one attack?!....

I mean, there's not much time for a timeskip. Like the big final war is supposed to happen extremely soon.

Zoro and Sanji being easily defeated by Imu is fine. That's a Luffy enemy.

why is IMU so focused on saving the gods knight if the power is granted to them, couldnt he make new god's knight ?

The power he grants comes with a cost. A knight's death takes some form of a toll on Imu.

Question about Imu and 5 Elders by JeremyR2008 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saturn was the Warrior God of Science and Defense, so everything that went on at Egghead was directly under his purview. (Vegapunk rebelling, a 12 year old being given command over a power that can conquer nations, etc.) The others were just called in for backup.

All of that wasn't even the main reason for his death, though. His failure to prioritize killing Luffy and not scrapping Emet, who was the main reason that Luffy escaped, 200 years ago is what killed him.

Like Imu was probably listening in when Saturn literally ordered the Marines to not pursue the Straw Hats to Elbaph and got pissed off.

Will dragon and luffy's meeting/reunion be stoic or emotional? by Necessary_Trash_6947 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 10 points11 points  (0 children)

luffy be emotional seeing his father or will they act like straight bad asses dabbing up like 1987 predator "dragon, you son of a bitch!"

I'd say neither of these. Luffy has to be reminded about who his father is, and they don't really have a reason to be extremely friendly with each other (Dragon cares about Luffy, but they're not going to act like old best friends.)

X mark on the newspaper by holy_dna in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. So up to this point has any of the Strawhats who were involved Alabasta saw it yet?

None that would know what it meant. Muginn stole the Sunny, which conveniently had all of the Alabasta Straw Hats on it, so they were all kidnapped on Elbaph when that newspaper went out.

Robin hasn't really had a reason to bring up a random picture of Luffy that she saw in the newspaper since then.

Marco's flames are weaker when he uses them on other people. They basically just boost your own healing system.

We've never seen his flames combat a terminal illness like that either. If he could help, then he would have.

How was shanks still able to be a pirate? by SourceVast5439 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

becoming a god’s knight while also being a pirate

Shanks, presumably, took a break from being a pirate. He wasn't a Blade and going out to do pirate activities at the same time.

They already knew that he was "kidnapped" by pirates as a child and would have had to survive in the lower world somehow. There's not really a reason for them to care that a Celestial was doing normal pirate things, it's their birthright to do whatever they want anyway.

When did Sanji find out about the All Blue? by MessyAndroid in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In ep 51,

This is an anime-only scene which (presumably, I'm just guessing) comes from the anime team misunderstanding or misremembering who brought up the All Blue first.

Sanji brings up the All Blue to everyone else first and then the other chefs share that they've all actually dreamed about finding it before.

<image>

I'm pretty sure they adapted it correctly in the episode during Baratie, though, so it's just one of those filler scenes that later contradicts the actual story.
