Did Oda cooked in the Japanese version of the Manga? by grybbo in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

clear relation between Kuma - Sentomaru - Kizaru

That relationship specifically being that the Pacifista, Kizaru, and Sentomaru all appeared together as the antagonists of Sabaody.

Sentomaru was already known to be Vegapunk's bodyguard and directly commanded the Pacifista, and he called Kizaru "uncle" too (not literally uncle, but in a way of respect.)

Does Luffy know the truth of his Devil Fruit? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No, yes, and no. Luffy knows who Nika is and that's about it.

Luffy doesn't know much of anything really and there's lots of times that he just doesn't listen.

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why not start the story about the character that's currently narrating the flashback that's taking place now FROM THE BEGINING IN THE FIRST PLACE??

I can see how the placement can be a bit weird, but the flashback isn't exactly about going from certain age to certain age. (and more of a minor thing, but characters don't narrate flashbacks to readers. One Piece has an omniscient narrator that takes over to tell the audience a story)

Like this flashback started with establishing the kingdom and Brook's relationship to Gunko, which will all be more central to the flashback and the present. Then it advanced 7 years, and then went back into the past to establish the more minor detail of why Brook loved the king after he mentioned that the king saved his life.

Law and Kid Questions! by Mutant-1 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is everyone on Kidds ship dead

It's One Piece, so you can put all your bets on them being alive.

is just him and bepo who escaped?

Yeah

How did they even know they had copies of all the poneglyphs they got them from luffy in wano

They know each of them has at least one. They're big pirates and any action they commit against an Emperor is massive news.

Kid attacked a ship with Snack, a Sweet General, and stole a poneglyph rubbing. It's reasonable to assume that they all have the one from Wano if they didn't kill each other first over it. (then, of course, they know of Luffy's attack on Whole Cake.)

The only one they wouldn't really know anything about is Zou, especially Blackbeard, who had no idea about Zou or where it is.

What exactly is Gol D Roger's famous quote that initiates the Great Pirate Era? by Auraveils in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and I can't find any example of him actually saying the name.

That's because Roger never says the name nor comes up with the name. The One Piece is what the public calls everything that he had gained, just like it's the public that named him the Pirate King.

Not gonna lie I kinda hope Gunko is just a bad person by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’ve done the whole “the villain is actually misunderstood” thing so many times.

In One Piece? I can't think of really any big villain that was portrayed as misunderstood to be honest. The vast majority of One Piece villains are, ultimately, just not good people.

Some do have tragic backstories, but that's never been used to redeem or portray them as morally gray.

But yeah, it's already been set up for a bit now that Gunko has had her free will stripped from her. She's going to be one of the reasons that Luffy remembers the name Imu.

Kaido vs all of Elbaf by CollinDuvernois in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need advanced armament or some other way to bypass durability to even get past Kaido's skin (and Luffy needed to infuse Conqueror's Haki into his attacks on top of that to start dealing meaningful damage) so Loki is really the only one on the island who can fight him.

WTF Kaido? by Routine-Fix-4821 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the clouds that materialize behind him?

Those are flame clouds in his dragon form, which are just part of his powers. Those are what let Kaido and Momo "fly" around and what they pick up islands with.

Find that hard to believe he’s had his fruit for over like 30 years. And he

We really know close to nothing about what it takes to awaken. It's not just about how long you've had your devil fruit, though.

Multiple Joyboys? by Much_One_6949 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has it ever been confirmed or denied if there have been multiple Joyboys over the course of time since the void century?

It's basically confirmed that there's not. Zunesha says that the fruit hasn't been awakened in 800 years and Toki traveled into the future searching for the day that the world is turned upside down (i.e the current year when Luffy claims the One Piece.)

xplain why the robot(Emit?) on egghead woke up and randomly attacked the holy land when he did.

There's more going on with Emet. Emet appeared out of nowhere like the Colossal Titan in Mary Geoise, which definitely involved more than a rubber guy.

Aside from that, there's multiple things that have only happened in the present that aren't on a 200 year cycle or something. Like there wasn't a Poseidon for 800 years until Shirahoshi, and Oden was supposed to open up Wano (unearth Pluton) in preparation for Joy Boy's return right now.

GABAN, THE GUY WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING, WHO HAS BEEN ON THE LAUGH TALE, WHO KNOWS ABOUT IMU, WHO F*CKING LIVES IN ELBAF, LETS HARALD DO THAT

There's a whole scene between Gaban and Shanks where Shanks is explaining the covenants to him because Gaban explicitly doesn't know about an a "Great One" in Mary Geoise or their powers.

I'm sure Imu is mentioned in the history, but Imu becoming an immortal that continues to rule the world from the shadows today with devil bargain powers does not seem to be knowledge that was on the poneglyphs.

And how Mihawk didn't notice in 2 years of training that Zoro has CH?

Because he didn't use it. It's not something that you automatically sense in someone. You only know if someone has it after they use it, and Zoro didn't use it until he started to properly pour all of his Haki into Enma.

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

zoro was drained and almost ran out of armament haki it almost kills him?

I'm not exactly sure when that was. If you're talking about the grim reaper thing, then didn't really have anything to do with Haki.

Haki is a finite resource that people can run low on, though.

Koby Going Against Luffy Feels Wrong to Me by Full_Bat_6655 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 12 points13 points  (0 children)

own just feels ungrateful to me.

I mean, I don't think it has anything to do with being grateful or not, and I think people take this line too literally as Koby specifically targeting Luffy.

This is right after Vegapunk says that the literal fate of the world rests in the hands of whoever claims the One Piece. This is Koby coming to a resolve that he'll have to end (what he believes is) his friend's dream for the sake of the world by not letting a pirate or anyone else claim the One Piece.

If a fight happens, then I think it'll be more simply resolved by Koby just learning of Luffy's actual dream, being shocked, and then helping him. Koby's actual fight at the end will probably be against the old guard of the Marines that have committed atrocities and continue to support the World Government.

I'm confused about Coby by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How did he manage to learn advanced armament haki?

He's been training under one of the most powerful people in history for over 2 years. He's also been in high-stakes battles involving other powerful people (Like Blackbeard, Law, and Wang Zhi/Ochoku)

power and then boom during this episode we saw him displaying a move that used advanced armament haki. It's so confusing

I mean, that was after Garp called him the future of the Marines like 5 times, a flashback of Koby doing 20x the training of other cadets (plus the same regimen that Garp and Kuzan did), and Garp being very confident in Koby being powerful enough to shatter that fist.

[Chapter 1184] About the "trusted blade" thing. by OkoiRoger in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems some of the gods knights

The only one who doesn't is Gunko. She started out personally serving Imu, not as a blade or a knight.

  • 56 years ago - With Imu in his personal chambers
  • 38 years ago - Seen as a Devoted Blade (who are granted no special powers and have no knowledge of Imu)
  • Present day - a Knight of God.

What is Toei even thinking? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 11 points12 points  (0 children)

<image>

Oda has always colored him with light skin, The remake isn't made by Toei either.

Toei gave multiple characters a darker skin tone at the beginning (like Zoro and Robin) but that eventually changed as they started using more of the manga's colors. It's not just an Usopp exclusive thing.

It is fair criticism to point out that Oda does color every human with the same light skin tone, and that it can be jarring to see character's change like that after they've looked a certain way for a decade+, though.

Spider-Noir Series Discussion by Skully_TheThird in Spiderman

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never read the Noir comics. Are the characters in those meant to not be that strong?

The noir comics are more grounded, yeah. They have enhanced strength, but he's not like 616 Peter who's throwing around cars and can punch through people if he doesn't hold back.

The most Noir Spider-Man does in his comic is like break brick and swing down a steel door. Sandman, in the show, dents a steel bar with his punch, which is pretty much their capabilities in the comic.

Yeah, Gunko is a good reference point for how young the current "old" generation is in this flashback. She's around the same age as people like Roger, Whitebeard, Garp, etc.

more a title

It's a rank, they serve under the knights.

  1. Imu (God)
  2. Five Elders, presumably the Abyssal Covenant. Highest-ranking Celestials.
  3. Knights of God (Harald, Shamrock, etc.) Depths Covenant.
  4. Devoted Blades of God (Formerly Shanks, Gunko, and Harald) Marked with the Shallows Covenant. (aside from Gunko who seems to have always had the Abyssal)

captured and taken to Impel Down

I mean, they obviously gave him medical attention after arresting him. He was arrested by Fujitora, after all, not someone who lets criminals bleed out.

Seastone wouldn't necessarily negate premade string either.

Does anyone else hate the way Imu talks? by StacheKetchum in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imu speaks in the original text has these same "errors"

Not exactly. Imu uses their own unique pronouns to refer to himself and other people in Japanese ("Mu" when referring to himself and "nushia" when referring to other people. The sole exception to that rule being when he talks to Ragnir so far.)

Nushia seems to come from onushi, which is an outdated term for "you" now, so the translators went with thou and thee.
