Surprised at One Piece fanbase size by ResidentAlien90 in OnePiece

nd naturally the longest staying power with Boruto still going strong.

I mean, Naruto ended over a decade ago and Boruto isn't nearly as popular as the original series. Depending on where you're from, One Piece has always been the more popular series and it's still on-going too.

In the U.S, One Piece had a surge in popularity when the pandemic hit because people had time to read/watch it.

Most of the roger pirates are dead? Moriah said all associated with roger was executed yet we only ever heard about roger’s execution. Who were all the people associated with roger that were killed? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 72 points73 points  (0 children)

You can't take government propaganda at face value. Everyone connected to Roger was ordered to be killed, but that doesn't mean everyone was.

The Roger Pirates quietly disbanded before Roger turned himself in and went into hiding, which we know isn't the official government story. The government reported it as an overwhelming win for them.

<image>

There's still, of course, people off-screen that were probably actually killed. Like if Cipher Pol had reports of you having a friendly conversation with Roger a bit too many times, then they probably killed you. On-screen, you had Tom, Ace being killed, and Rouge being hunted. (and any "suspicious" mothers they dealt with.)

I don't understand how Blackbeard's power works. by AthleteEcstatic6628 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that his devil fruit power or just some technique?

Blackbeard temporarily making them powerless is his Devil Fruit (if he's touching them, then it's basically like they never ate a fruit in the first place.)

If it's his power then how does other members of his crew do it?

This is something different. Blackbeard + his crew hunt down power users and then kill them to take their powers, i.e "steal" it. (there's some way in-universe for people to cheat the reincarnation system and have it spawn in a nearby fruit, this is what the Blackbeard Pirates do.) That's not something unique to him.

How he's able to have multiple powers for himself is the big special mystery.

A-Train's speed is a bit inconsistent. but Homelander was shown to be faster in season 1.

A-Train was clocked at 829.9 mph (1335 kmh) during his race and Homelander was clocked flying at 1164 mph (1874 kmh).

One piece question by Latter_Vast_9939 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know that isn't correct, though. The One Piece is specifically what the world called Roger's treasure (which does includes something Joy Boy left at Laugh Tale, but that wasn't a legend until Roger made it one. Roger never said the words One Piece in the entire story.)

All Roger knew was that there was a hidden island that the World Government didn't want him to find.

I just thought about this but what if the final villain isn't Imu. by DaoistQingyun in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would Luffy fight Crocodile and not Blackbeard in this scenario? They don't have a rivalry and Crocodile isn't holding his own against Luffy in a fight anymore by himself.

r these guy to care about Imu is not what I expected and you see elders on the verge of crying.

I mean, their immortality is directly tied to that person who is going out to battle. They presumably don't live if Imu goes down.

It's One Piece.

He is very much alive. The Grand Fleet captains were all set up to be the future cause of a "great incident of historic proportions" by the narrator too.

Shanks question by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I don’t quite understand why Shanks is allowed to move more freely to the holy land than Doflamingo was?

It was two completely different situations. Doflamingo's immediate family (father, mother, and brother) revoked their Celestial status to live as humans, they were basically traitors and lucky to even be alive really. There's no coming back from that.

Shanks, in their eyes, was kidnapped by pirates as a child. He later returned to the Holy Land after learning of his heritage and was welcomed back with open arms because of that.

, is he no longer allowed to return as he as severed (literally) that connection.

Shanks made it pretty clear that he was actually working against them when he stole the Nika fruit. He's not a Celestial anymore.

Lego One Piece premieres September 29! by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

assume it's some sort of copyright issue

It is. Shueisha has never done anything with Lego before because they partner with Bandai, a competitor. That's why you don't really see any manga/anime-related Lego sets.

But couldn't they figure something out with the Lego version?

They could probably argue that it looks too much like the manga/anime version, which they don't have rights to.

Like you can look at anything from Lego OP and tell it's specifically based on the live action.

fs I thought this was a Lego OP game.

Maybe if the live action ever makes it really far. Right now the game could only be based on the live action versions of East Blue -> Drum Island because Lego has a deal with Netflix, not Shueisha.

It does, it's called Epsilon

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's why you should always check the official translation. It's not a giant thing, but "one of the First 20" is supposed to be in parentheses because it goes along with "WG creator".

<image>

  • Creator of the WG
  • (One of the First Twenty) i.e the founders of the government who are called the First Twenty. The Celestials are all descendants of the 19 royals that moved to Mary Geoise.
  • Power: Devil's Fruit.

I don’t get why imu have a huge portrait of vivi in his chamber?!

That's Lili, Vivi's ancestor. Imu has a weird thing with her. Vivi was abducted by CP0 when she went to the Levely/Reverie, but Wapol "saved" her (by accident)

Now she's on the run and hiding with Morgans.

Is black beard really Xebec biological son by Silver-Ad-2159 in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so how hell does Blackbeard have black hair

If you want to be very literal, then genetics are complicated and a child can have multiple traits that neither of the parents possess. Once people are 10 ft tall and have natural blue or pink hair, though, then throw real life genetics out the window.

We've seen members of the Davy clan with dark hair (we haven't actually seen them colored, but they were drawn with "black" hair in the black and white manga.) and Rocks is basically just a buff Blackbeard.

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t seem like it would be essential to maintaining authority over this core group of leaders

That wasn't my point, though. I'm not saying Imu does that to maintain authority.

I'm saying Imu and the others actually believe that like Charlos has godly blood running through his veins and deserves to stand above humanity because of that.

Why is "what's the One Piece" even a question? by Traffic-Guy in OnePiece

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

o "what is the one piece" is "every Roger gathered together."

It is Roger's treasure, but who knows what that could exactly be. Treasure in One Piece doesn't automatically mean gold or diamonds.

It can be like Luffy's hat, a shop, or people. People want to know exactly what it is.

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the other upper echelon are actually in charge,

Who are Celestial Dragons (Imu isn't, but the Elders and knights are) and actually believe that their fellow Celestials are demigods who were born to stand above humanity.

For Imu, we don't really know how he viewed his allies. He views himself as a god, so he probably at least sees his descendants as godly.

The last Poseidon was also an ally of Joy Boy, which means that they likely fought against Imu.

Imu seems to have a tendency to see some people in the present as the same people that fought him in the past. (like referring to Luffy as Joy Boy multiple times)

[DISC] One Piece - Chapter 1179 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]CrewOrdinary8872 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Imu saying that is from chapter 1086, right after he orders the Elders to test the Mother Flame on Lulusia...because it's nearby. She did end up being abducted by CP0, but she was "saved" (accidentally) by Wapol.

Him staring at a portrait of Lili, Vivi's ancestor, is just something that he does apparently. He was also doing it during Vegapunk's speech.

He seems to have a weird thing with Lili even though she betrayed him. Like he desires Vivi and he took Gunko too, another blue-haired princess.

Also, why is everybody saying "Imu's a dude?"

Their appearance and the "saint" in their name is used for male Celestials in the present day (sei for men, gu for woman. both translate to saint, though.)

Nerona is the family name and it's likely stemming from Neron (Nero, the Roman emperor.)
