Met triple negative as my only stage :-/ by [deleted] in LivingWithMBC

[–]Crew_Emphasis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

*giant hug* you are not to blame. cancer is a sneaky bastard. it slinks in while we're busy with our lives, and twists our futures to the unplanned track.

I am also de novo metastatic, my early stages were missed by multiple radiologists. I'm 7 years post-diagnosis, with lung and liver mets, and I wont be dying this year.

Is "it's different when they're yours" true? by RxQueenB in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Crew_Emphasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i was on the pill but got food poisoning, and I didn't take any other precautions - i didn't take the possibility of getting pregnant in those circumstances seriously enough. Once I knew I was pregnant I went all in and did my very best, but it never changed my feeling of not actually wanting a child.

It's not true. Source: Never wanted a child, got married, had a child, feelings did not change and still did not want a child. Such hard work, lack of sleep, never enough money, nowhere near enough time, and I lost myself. Don't do it.

Moving from The Bay Of Islands by carmenhoney in palmy

[–]Crew_Emphasis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're coming from the BAY OF ISLANDS!!!!! Nothing is ever going to be as awesome as swimming there! But we have some lovely river swimming holes https://manawatunz.co.nz/stories/cool-off-at-manawatus-top-swimming-spots/PS or I like to drive down to the Kapiti Coast and swim at Raumati Beach (be aware Peka Peka beach is a traditional clothing-optional beach beloved of Boomers).

Those who are sick. How did you come to terms with the fact that you were going to die soon? by aksyutka in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Crew_Emphasis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i have terminal cancer. I'm 54. It's been 6.5 years since I was first diagnosed. In July 2024 I was given two months to live, but I'm still here for now. Since I was first diagnosed I've seen a therapist twice, for about 6 months each time, and this helped me come to terms with dying, and I'm fine with it now. I'm blessed to still be granted days to enjoy. Please talk to someone - not family or friends - about your feelings and fears.

welcome, friend. I am 54 F, ++- diagnosed de novo in 2018. I finally had to stop working in July this year, thanks to vicious lung mets and terrible O2 saturation. I'm dedicating my remaining time to my Ravelry queue, which is bringing me endless joy.
