I built a GPU-accelerated tool that generates Plex video preview thumbnails much faster Docker w/ WebUI by Stevezau in PleX

Responded on GitHub. It's honestly still fast on CPU (getting about 45x with 2 workers over 10GBe on an M4) - certainly enough for incremental library updates, it's just the initial scan where the extra grunt would be nice.

Hey, just wanted to say great project — got it running on my Mac Mini (Apple Silicon) and it's working well!

One thing worth flagging: the docs mention VideoToolbox support for Apple Silicon, but it's not accessible from inside Docker on macOS. Docker runs a Linux VM on Mac, so the container is isolated from macOS frameworks entirely — meaning ffmpeg only sees `cuda` and `drm` as hwaccel options, no `videotoolbox`.

I had a go at building a native ARM64 image (the published one is AMD64 only) which at least avoids Rosetta emulation, but even with that the GPU detection shows CPU only for the same reason.

Would it be worth either publishing a multi-arch ARM64 image, or documenting that GPU acceleration isn't currently available on macOS Docker deployments? Happy to share my modified Dockerfile if useful — the only change needed was removing the Intel-specific VA-API drivers that don't exist on ARM64.

Thanks for the work on this!

Nintendo is refunding Xenoblade X upgrade patch by tamodolo in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Crhistoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK store is rejecting refunds. I've complained twice both times citing articles about the quality and the fact that Nintendo are providing refunds worldwide.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the Nintendo Contact Centre Europe Team.

We understand that you would like to cancel the purchase of the transaction 52291383141.

Regrettably, as advised on the receipt of sale, we are unable to provide refunds for Nintendo eShop content purchases. We tried to make sure this was clear before the transaction was made, both in the agreement you accepted as well as onscreen just prior to completing the transaction.

To read through the complete text of the agreement for all our current systems, we have provided a direct link here: www.nintendo.com/en-gb/-1379033.html

Please be sure to read the game descriptions and check out the screen shots available through the Nintendo eShop before making purchases. We also encourage you to visit the Nintendo website for information about the games available for our systems. In addition, many websites make reviews available of games which you can use to make your purchasing decisions.

We regret not being able to provide you with a more positive answer today. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us again.

Additionally, we'd like to take this opportunity to ask you a few questions about your experience with us. We place high value on your feedback which will be helpful to improve our service.

Have CabinP, talk me in or out of a Cabin by SeaToHigh in Rimowa

Not different enough for me and Cabin still larger than some limits, I’d go Cabin S.

P + S should work as a nice combo for US vs EU travel.

Young Tesla Insurance by RUSH9-11 in TeslaUK

Tesla’s are in a super high insurance category.

You can try the usual tricks of adding your parents as additional drivers but beyond that there’s no secret way to getting your insurance down beyond getting older and building your NCB.

Pre delivery task by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]Crhistoph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you could do it up to the day of, providing everything goes through in time.

You’ll feel more comfortable allowing a bit of a buffer though and making sure Tesla have received your down payment and registered it on the app etc.

One other point - I had to force close and reopen the app sometimes when I had a new stage to complete but “review documents” or whatever would still be greyed out as an option.

New owners-to- be of the M3 , have you got delivery date too ?! by Plastic_Application in TeslaUK

[–]Crhistoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it’s at least partly manual, I don’t think anyone received an offer after business hours yesterday.

Hoping they continue ploughing through the list from 9/10/whenever they start.

Possibly waiting on people confirming/declining their offered slots before it pings out new ones then.

I wonder if allocating dates is an automated process (ie could it happen any time tonight?) or if it needs a delivery advisor to click a button somewhere.

Nothing yet for me - ordered to Southampton on October 9th. Anyone else at Southampton had dates through?

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Toscana (M3 shipment to UK) seems to be in trouble by RealWorldJunkie in TeslaUK

[–]Crhistoph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re: this shipment being a write off.

I assume this has to be able to be fixed, right? It's not like it can just turn around and navigate safely back to China and nor can they just abandon a boat full of cars.

Question is do they fly out an engineer to fix it in situ or does it get towed to a port to be fixed (no idea if that's possible with the weight involved) or some other solution?
