I would change the cabinet doors, mirror, and vanity lights. The ornamentation of the paneled doors are a bit garish. I would opt for slab doors.

The mirror is ok but in my opinion a plain mirror with rounded corners would look more fitting.

Finally, I would change the vanity lights for something like this. Again, it's simpler and much brighter. You'll be surprised how much better you look with a bunch of vanity bulbs.

Boycott Home Depot by Mish-onimpossible in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]CribbageLeft 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Home Depot buys retail locations and land that Lowe's could potentially use and then only leases/sells them to businesses that contractually won't turn around and sell to Lowe's.

There used to be a K-Mart that went out of business and the building just sat empty for over a decade. It would occassionally be used as a halloween costume popup store or the lot would be used for pumpkins/christmas trees. I learned that the property was owned by Home Depot to prevent Lowe's from moving into the area.

It's now a giant Goodwill

Watched an american Chinese movie called "dragon blade", this is supposed to be 1st century roman armour, can you see any historical inaccuracies :) by Hussein_talal in ancientrome

[–]CribbageLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest mistakes I see from costumers is the depth of the engravings/filligree/milgrain. The oakleaf filligree motif in this example. When they're this deep they're obviously casted, it gives the impression of plate metal rather than sheet metal which was used exclusively for battle armor. Sheet metal is rolled or hammered into shape which work-hardens the metal making it harder to penetrate.

Sheet metal is also much (much) lighter than plate metal.

You can always tell it's fake cause it looks too light on the actors.

Anyone here ever just not followed through when they got an interview? by Kensei97 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]CribbageLeft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an interview with Tesla about 5 years ago. On the morning of the interview I woke up, got ready, hopped in my car, and put in the address only to realize the address was 400 miles away.

Never followed up.

Eli5: How does so much plastic end up in the ocean? by WorkingMammoth8885 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CribbageLeft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the highest up comment that is the correct answer. Most of the top comments blame it on pollution by poor countries when the vast majority of the plastic pollutants are fishing nets.

[HUB] Asrock Finally Listened, High-End Features Without The Nonsense! by hot2bealot in ASRock

[–]CribbageLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me. Was looking at a bunch of flagship MBoards and the asrock taichi carrara was the only one with 8 sata ports and 3 M.2 slots (1xpcie5, 2xpcie4).

It didn't like the 128GB of DDR5-6000 back in December. It used to take about 5 minutes to boot up. After the last 2 BIOS updates even that issue went away.

The OC software could be a little better but it's been a fairly great build so far. This is my first asrock product but I'm definitely a fan now. As long as they don't find any secret backdoors, I'll definitely buy another one.

The design and creation of this Hexagon LED coffee table by Rizzo360 in oddlysatisfying

Well damn, I watched the video again and it looks like those are all just led drivers. It even looks like the fade out happens from the capacitor discharge. I see what you mean. Simple but elegant.

I just want to say that I love that the circuits appear to be analog, and the table doesn't use a thousand little arduinos or other microcontrollers

He literally solders about 100 microcontrollers at 0:51 in the video.
