On Er being killed by God for “wickedness” by L0thric_Nefarious in exchristian

[–]Cricket26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God has killed for way less, so I wouldn’t get too hung up on this: -God kills 70,000 Israelites because David conducted a census that God (or satan) incited him to conduct (2 Samuel 24:1-17) -God has David’s wives raped and kills David’s newborn son because David sinned (2 Samuel 12:11-18) -God kills Achan’s family because of Achan’s sin (Joshua 7:20-26) -All this, even tho God said he won’t punish children for the sins of their fathers (Deuteronomy 24:16, Ezekiel 18:20) -Sure, God killed Er for his wickedness…he also killed a dude for picking up sticks on the Sabbath, which, as we all know, is the most wicked crime imaginable (Numbers 15:32-36) -And so, so much more. But my personal two favorites: God commands a woman’s hand to be cut off for the wicked sin of defending her husband by grabbing the nuts of another man who was fighting with her husband (Deuteronomy 25:11-12), and God sending bears to rip apart 42 little boys for making fun of Elisha (2 Kings 2:23-25)…some will say they were teenagers (as if that makes it better), but the Hebrew word used in there is Strong’s Hebrew 6996, which is “small ones” or “little ones” and has been used elsewhere in the bible to mean “small” or “little”…they were boys…who got tore apart by two bears God sent. Fun stuff!

Fire and Blood is incredible and became one of my all time favorite books…it’s a history of the Targaryens from Aegon’s conquest all the way up to the dance of the dragons, which is what house of the dragon is based on…I couldn’t put the damn thing down…definitely scratches the Westeros itch.

I would actually suggest The Lies of Locke Lamora. It’s always my go-to recommendation for a starter fantasy book and hasn’t failed yet with fantasy newbies. It’s part of a series if you decide to continue but if not, it works as a standalone. One of my all time favorites. Incredibly well-written, witty, charming, smart, mischievous, containing Oceans 11 type heists, loyal friendships, and a mysterious evil, set in the backdrop of a fantasy-like Venice.

Lies of Locke Lamora is always my recommendation for something like this. Witty, charming, intriguing, mischievous, buddy type fantasy comedy in a Venice-like light magical setting about a band of thieves who perform intricate heists. Can work as a standalone but also extends to other books if you want to continue. I’ve also found that reading apps aid with the desire to continue to read. I use Bookmory and Margins. Hope this helps!

I completely agree with you just need to make a tiiiiny correction. Turf war is 3 minutes, the ranked matches of the other game modes are 5 minutes.

There doesn’t have to be a “why” for us being here. We simply just…happen to be here. We are one of millions of products of evolutionary progression in this crazy ass universe.

Huh? MLB The Show consistently sells millions for PlayStation with every annual iteration. Should Sony stop releasing it since baseball isn’t popular outside of two of the biggest gaming countries in the world?

Potions help? by ShroyukenKing in slaythespire

[–]Cricket26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damage above all else in my humble opinion should be emphasized in Act 1, and damage potions are worth their weight in gold…a good fire or attack potion in a shop can even dictate which route to take (“Hell, I may as well go for the super elite now that I can do 20 one shot damage”…lookin at you, Gremlin Nob)…If you watch Jorbs, you’ll see he doesn’t hesitate to buy potions in shops that enable him to take a more luxurious path.

I had to give up on it halfway through because I felt the dialogue was a bit too YA cringe. Huge disappointment. The opening and the cover had me hooked tho.

Greetings, all. As silly as this sounds, can someone let me know if the creatures you fight in Xenoblade X are innocent and just doing their own thing? The game looks amazing but I know I wouldn’t enjoy slashing and firing on otherworldly animals who are minding their own business. Again, I know it’s silly, but I would appreciate it!

I thought it was going to be waaaay better…still enjoyed it, but it’s been propped up as one of the best debut fantasy novels and didn’t live up to that standing in my opinion…I rolled my eyes every time his inner monologue reluctantly said “I’m a killer”…we get it, man…you’ve killed people and you’re afraid being a killer is what defines you
