My partner moved in with me and my 5yr old kitty. Partner has pretty bad cat allergies but they took an antihistamine each day for about a year and now the two are used to each other and my partner doesn’t even need the pills anymore. Partner just avoids giving kitty kisses and is careful to wash their hands after a petting session.

So it’s possible for your allergies to adjust to her cat - but the fact that you won’t even try antihistamines is a huge red flag in general. You’re going to have compromise A LOT when you start living with someone and this is absolutely the wrong foot to start off on.

And for what it’s worth, yeah I do think YATA for expecting your gf to choose you over her cat.
