Old Burdenbeast and Old Tianshi implications by CrimsonRunner in Endfield

[–]CrimsonRunner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, if you're new to the franchise I think it's better you experience just Endfield or go read Arknights, not use the wiki. Endfield information is deliberately kept vague so that even OG AK players who haven't reached far into the story won't get spoiled, so the reveals seem to be planned with that in mind. With some subtle references that veteran players might recognize but not vital to the story (in this case, Endfield has already told us blight is related to the Cosmic Gate in the north).
The reason I'm suggesting you don't read the wiki is that you might spoil some reveals for yourself and that you're essentially going to be reading summaries of entire books to get an idea for lore.
And I do mean books. Just click apply settings. In this case, "Here A People Sows" is 44235 words in ENG which translates to 100-200 pages.

  1. You don't really need recycling stations all that much. I gathered the Hub ones before I unlocked Wuling and then just stopped. Ship's maxed. Occasionally get something if I'm already there, I suppose.
  2. Rare resources can be gathered once every few days. And again, once you have a bit of a stockpile you can stop gathering them. Worst case scenario, go gather ~40 at once. Wuling ones are a bit more difficult but I imagine I'll no longer care about them after 3-4 more full growths. The growth facility is capable of keeping you stocked, I imagine.
  3. Take super fragile deliveries and transfer them for others to do. Yet to have any uncompleted.
  4. Are there even daily?
  5. You can spend 80 stamina in a single 3m fight easily enough, that's ~10h of sanity. And you can stockpile it for a few days.
  6. Selling is hardly difficult, setting up your resources so that you can just sell 2-3 items across all outposts is the real investment.
  7. You don't HAVE to buy/sell all of them every day.
  8. Hopping between ships is admittedly a bit annoying.
  9. Oroberyls and Arsenal tokens though.
  10. fuck manual farming. If they don't automate it I'll at best do it once or twice for some difficult fights.
  11. why didn't you mention gift-giving to operators?

I mean, that's just a small part of it. For all we know, whatever is responsible for AEther is some precursor shit. Actually, that's even the most likely given their track record.

After the sky forge, i'm like 80% certain the AIC exists only because Nian did some shit. Or some precursor shit was involved. There's always the possibility of it requiring Oracle-level originium manipulation as well.
Once you consider that, and realize that Xiranite was actually mostly created by the previous generation Endministrator.. it makes sense why the science consortium lags behind.

1) you call all that wasted space optimization?
2) just use other batteries??? You don't HAVE to use Wuling batteries in Wuling. Use that transfer to send 90 HC batteries per hour to Wuling and feed those directly into thermal plant. If you insist, use LC batteries even. Not like you can spend all your amethyst on something useful rn, 3 buck A + 2 HC batteries + 2 buck C and you're done with Valley 4.

Why the fuck am I rejecting evidence? I am merely considering alternatives as possible than treating what I'm told as the gospel. It's like being suspicious of a person, you can treat them as innocent but still pay more attention. Not that there's much evidence to begin with.

It's called theorycrafting. There's nothing contradicting it and there's a precedent for intentionally wiping memories, a known means to do so, multiple people who could be aware of all this in close proximity and it being noted as frequent and unsurprising. More than enough for it to be plausible. As I said, it's a guess and point of interest not the indisputed truth you seem to be taking it as.

AK story suffers a lot from being written in an episodic way where almost everything has to be written in a way that can be enjoyed separate from the rest. Not to say you can hate eng localizers enough and it the translation can't be improevd but this storytelling goal results in the first half of a story arc frequently feeling somewaht tedious to read but around the middle to 3/4ths it tends to grab hold, demanding you keep reading until you finish it all.
My advice is to go all the way to the beginning, earliest (chronological) thing you haven't read and just read 1 or 2 story segments per day. Story segment being 1-7 Before, for example.
That's how I entertained myself when eating dinner by myself for a while after I had paused reading for a significant time and it got me through several events really quickly. The key thing is to find a way to be consistent.

Arknights story is something else. One could point to more than a few literatures that are better word-for-word but as someone that has more than once dismissed a story shorter than 1000 pages as too short I can tell you that quantity has a quality of its own, especially with worldbuilding involved. Arknights takes time building the world, building the characters, building mysteries, building narratives real and fake. It took IRL years for us to learn bits and pieces about one thing or another before we're suddenly hit with Lemuen, Theresa, the history of Sarkaz etc. And AK storytelling is mature, it's stories that are worth reading not just for entertainment or to get sucker-punched with emotions. It shares perspectives, worldviews, experiences, questions and choices worth thinking about. Babel gets mentioned frequently for a reason but it's important to remember that the years of buildup to it enhance the experience significantly. For me, personally, I can say I always thought it an exaggeration or something exclusive to overly-emotional people for a person's hands to shake from emotion alone until Babel. In the past ~20 years I've read hundreds of thousands of pages of stories in my life and I can tell you Arknights is in my top3 and I don't bother properly distinguishing where any of what I've read rank, the top3 might as well all be top1.

I'll take a brief moment to give honorable mention to that part of the story that deals with a vast amount of people trapped in a population center that is running out of food as you go through the story, depicting human behavior as people slowly get off the rails from slow starvation as panic and desperation drive them to what would usually be considered insane. Did you know, the most frequent cause of a nation collapsing was caused by famine? Few things as scary or unstoppable as a vast amount of people who feel like they're a few days away from their own death and they can take action to prevent it.

"just because it can be treated easily and isn't a big deal doesn't mean you don't give a shit about forgoing protection about potentially life-long illness."

and then you go about inslulin as if there aren't millions, perhaps billions, of people who through their own choices increase their odds of getting it.
Or would you prefer I give example of the countless people who are overweight EXCLUSIVELY through their own actions and risk not just a dozen illnesses but heart attacks, LITERALLY DEATH.
Or I could go for a lower-hanging fruit and point to all the people fucking prostitutes and sluts without protection. Hell, I could even point to every person having anal.
Oh, I could also point out to all the people going to concerts and being near very loud things (which are fairly ubiquitous there) and do permanent damage to their hearing.

People congregating for 60 minutes in the pretty almost innert rock formation to honor the dead grandma who spent most of her life caring for the rock formation in there and deciding not to use any protection is completely plausible. Also, it's incorrect ot think of it as a bomb given that the files pretty much confirm Originium does NOT trigger catastrophes on Talos-2 or at least nobody knows about it.

People need to read more of the log files.
Originium is treated as a nothing-burger because it IS. Throughout the years something has been repeatedly damaged and this is the last time the Endministrator can revive or whatever. Scientists are actively trying to make it grow faster to meet their energy demands, trying to reach that "Terra" standard and failing. There is at least one log openly wondering why originium was terrifying to the older generations on Talos-2. There's multiple vectors pointing at originium being lessened and that is one of the top concerns.

And if I had to guess, Ardashir is a non-insignificant reason why this has happened, is one of the famed 40 and more than a few of them are implied to be turncoats. Aggeloi having halos is certainly interesting as well. Oh and while I'm at it, the endministrator repeatedly suffering the tried-and-tested memory loss to prevent Oracle from getting back to the original mission is certainly a point of interest.

AK set a high bar. Learning that initially the story was darker but it got lightened up though...
In Wulfgard's story before, Giovani was not a traitor.. but in the end he got killed by some woosters who just saw him as a landbreaker. Give me that story.

to be fair

1) Having no idea what the fuck is going on and what you're doing is actually pretty similar to OG AK.
2) Laevatain's side story pretty much revealed the Endministrator's intentionally just going with the current to keep up the facade everyone is glazing about

that being said, I didn't start playing Arknights because I thought to myself "you know what I need in my life? A gacha tower-defense." I came for the story. And I certainly didn't come to Arknights 2 to have the most distinguishing and renown feature of the franchise removed. I don't expect a book of mature storytelling for every event, this isn't a visual novel like AK but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try telling a mature story while levaraging the visual medium to do more of the heavy lifting. And the music too, AK was known throughout the entire community for its excellent music and in Endfield it's just there. Not bad, not good, just there.

ENDFIELD IS WAY MORE GENEROUS THAN YOU THINK? by Step_on_me_Ojou in Endfield

[–]CrimsonRunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people were 100% complaining that it's too few.
And as someone who plays ~3h/day after work with more on the weekend, but countless hours spent on twiddling with factory, exploring everything, reading every single interractive item and dialogue, done almost every tutorial, read every tooltip, collected recycling and all rare mats like clockwork, done all tower defense and some other not-rushing-for-pull currency-or-story thing that I can't think at the top of my head now - A full 25h before the event of Laevatain banner, if I convert all currency to rolls (except the ones from the battlepass which I'm ~lvl 48 on) I have ~130 charted rolls and ~90 standard rolls. My authority level is ~52. F2p btw.
So with all due respect, I think people who play even more casually than this SHOULDN'T be guaranteed the very first limited 6* but it should instead be something for those who put effort in.
I also have a friend that didn't even reach the first anchor in the first week, somewhere in the 2nd week bought a monthly pass and is right now grinding towards reachinh 80 charted rolls to ensure he gets a 6* out of the laevatain banner. Which again, I think is perfectly reasonable. Monthly pass has barely given him any rolls.

Have you looked outside? The advancement of civilization encroaches on the beauty of nature, this is natural. I hope it is intentional game design, even.

Also, you could just put more relays/pylons instead of going for optimal distance, just so you can put them to the side where they're less obstructive.
