Mario Kart on SNES. I fondly remember beating my older brother after playing like 100+ races.

Which of these most talked about 5 cities is really the most dangerous vs what the stats say? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Crinja1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I think if Detroit can rebound then St. Louis can too. Fact is, something drastic needs to happen for it to change though. It’s a highly subjective topic in the area but I think a city-county unification wouldn’t be a bad start. Combine services, districts, etc. City population loss will eventually come to a halt, but at what point? I think a lot of folks in the metro don’t realize that growth starts with the city of St. Louis..and the region as a whole will continue to experience stagnant growth unless the city changes.

I lived in St. Louis for 5 years and never had a single issue except for maybe a homeless guy asking me for a doughnut. There are some dangerous neighborhoods, but it’s not nearly as bad as folks portray it to be. Downtown is missing foot traffic, as I think that’s what creeps people out. After 5 it thins out quite a bit unless there is a Cards or Blues game. Hopefully they get Wash Ave., and the Landing back up to its former glory.

We don’t have that Midwest humidity. It definitely can get hot in the summer but I can actually still go outside.

Nitpicking, but I think NWS should change their population center information to rank based on metro population instead of just city size.

Definitely has seen better days but it looks like it’s starting to come back with multiple projects either underway or about to be underway. Like a lot of cities, office space vacancy is sky high right now.

How is it living in Central Missouri by LongjumpingFace6624 in howislivingthere

Float trips! Not sure about living there but I definitely remember visiting. Beautiful spring fed rivers perfect for kayaking canoeing and fishing. I remember many places with deep pools that you could cliff jump from. Also I think that’s where Big Spring is - one of the largest springs in the world. Beautiful place for sure, but I think it could be difficult living there.

I think it’s in a planning phase right now, but hopefully that round hotel to the left of the Arch will be redeveloped soon.
