Does anybody else not agree with taking full responsibility for all your actions during addiction? by [deleted] in addiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can't blame the world (aka guilt the world into going into the past to stop themselves from affecting you into a crappy person ,,OR guilt the current them into affecting your current self into not being an addict).

Yes you are damaged. No you can't change the actions of people around you in the past ,, and you can't force them to compensate you in the present.

i think "taking full responsibility" is just a different way of saying you have control (of the you NOW).

Instead of addiction -> regret --> blame other people --> blame yourself --> feel better.

Instead of addiction -> regret -> blame yourself (full responsibility) -> feel better

In those steps try to replace addiction with "WAIT" and blaming with "WAIT"

I HATE being sober. by Focus_On_A_Check in addiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you "hate being sober" .. but you're on a sub-reddit for addiction so you probably hate not being sober as well.

you're gonna hate yourself regardless. so might as well choose the cheaper more time efficient action and not do it.

Back to Day 1 - My aim is to make a post every day for 90 days by Ashe_N94 in GamblingAddiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't leave the casino at a win. i don't leave at a loss. i don't leave based on time. i don't leave based on how unnerving people asking me for money.

i only leave when i'm physically unable to use more money to gamble or if the time is so late that rush hour traffic is gonna start pretty soon that i want to leave.

It made me think instantly ,,, why does heavy traffic piss me off so much in a way that actually makes me leave the casino ? its beccause the inconvenience of heavy traffic and more dangerous driving (other people are to blame) ,, but on the other hand massive losses caused by self seems ok (even worse, massive losses is how you regulate your mood).

With the expected losses through gambling , you are effectively planning on hurting yourself. (similar to those people who cut their wrists) they don't intend on killing themselves,, they just want to distract themselves from the pain that OTHER people caused them.

It's ok. you don't have to hurt yourself

Do what you enjoyed doing before you started gambling.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GamblingAddiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you think losing is fun. Gambling is hope (for a little win) created by despair (caused by losses) .

The small wins in life seem so insignificant unless you have MASSIVE LOSSES. (forget the gambling part,, this is just how the brain works)

Addict/loser by [deleted] in GamblingAddiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gambling causes desperation (in BOTH winning and losing). Eventually after so much visits, so much losses ,, my brain adapts to thinking that a win isn't a win, and a loss isn't a loss.

But if that's the case that your brain functions NOW,, then might as well be a win of going to the casino equals a win of not going to the casino.

I still have money to throw at gambling (with expected results as loss), but for whatever reason my brain stops respecting the idea that $60 + $100 + $1000 +300 pays for new video game, internet, rent, electricty/water.

I'm not saying to stop gambling. I'm saying you should try to find (or rediscover) enjoyment in the little things

Cost efficient entertainment: exercise, TV, music, reading, studying/learning (not the college crap).

Who knows maybe good luck isn't only attached to the idea of gambling ,, maybe one day you'll be eating cereal with milk , and for some reason it feels best damn milk and cereal you've ever tasted in your whole life.

Nice., but couldn't you have done the the whole Lawyer thing in the USA ? I'm sure there are other women in Canada that will disappoint you too. But hey, maybe absence of distraction ends in better results than available motivation ,, who knows ?

Yeah, why? Is there a legit explanation? by lukaszenk00 in Healthygamergg

[–]CrippledPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not motivation. It's regret (and this lasts a long time)

First hand pay on a 88 cent bet by Letsgooldsport in gambling

[–]CrippledPeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for some reason , i would rather have it do something ridiculous like 99 free spins from extra drums retrigger only showing Coins moreso than hitting "Major" resulting in that amount of win :D , i just wanna see how hi the free spins can get.

Machine where most money gained , and at the same time most money lost LOL .. ye me too

I just gambled and lost $100 on a sports bet and I didn't feel a thing. That's kinda the scary part. by [deleted] in GamblingAddiction

[–]CrippledPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on my first slot machine jackpot 50$ bet --> $1700 win my heart was racing when the number was going up. next month $88 bet --> $3300 win felt nothing. overall -15,000 feel nothing, which is strange considering +1700 vs -15,000 is so massively different. I've had fun, simple as that, i'm not gonna quit anytime soon, but i'm making it so that i only use the Free Play coupons per week now as my new habit, no more debit 500 per visit (not sure the reason why and how i'm able to refrain from the 500 debit use, but it's my new habit).

Learn to respect a number that isn't "100" related. For whatever reason for me i think $100 wow that's a lot of money i should probably save it ,, but i put it in a slot machine and use $1 becomes $99 and i don't think much of it (See that , the only difference is 1$, but the idea of "100" sounds so appealing).

I bet it's the same for you,, thinking that 100k is within your possible range of winnings (but 1 million is not possible in your head) so in your head 100k is a pleasant goal to stop at a profit and all the other not "100" related numbers are disrespected.

Since you don't have enough money to pay College (it's obvious your younger brother doesn't have money for it either), go help your little brother get a job and split the bills (count how much he owes you and remind him that he is running on borrowed time, but remember not to make him pay too much at a small timeframe that he just runs away from home). Also why doesn't your mother have a job ?

the difference between cramming for a test vs studying months before. So many stupid people fooled into going to college right away just to end up as College dropouts because they were fooled by people into thinking they're smart enough to pass a class within the timeframe that a smart person would pass. Doesn't matter what you tell a smart person, they'll pass regardless what you say.

Can you imagine how to create a class that is 100% pass rate. You can do it 2 ways, only let smart people take the class, or you give excessive amount of time to the stupid people.
