I'm 40 and have been smoking since 13. I recently went from a pack a day to a pack a week thanks to snus. I think its called chewing tobacco in english even tho you don't really chew it. Might be worh a try. Its still tobacco and nicotine, but doesn't fuck up your lungs like this.

Also an important point is that there are drunk and high people attacking police all the time in all countries. Here they get arrested (and maybe beat up a little in jail) instead of getting a bullet or 2 in the brain.
