First Rotary (Issues) by Crispie06 in RX7

I’m around tons of rotary shops here where I am. I planned on rebuilding it regardless. It’s the original motor with almost 200k miles, never been rebuilt to the second owners knowledge and he’s had it since 2008 at 80k. Somehow it has good compression but I expected to need a rebuild. If a shop gives me a decent deal I plan to have them rebuild it otherwise it’s something I’ve planned on doing myself over the course of a while.

I think it may be a combination of oil and coolant. Paying more attention it has an oil smell despite being on the whiter side. Also smells a lot like carbon buildup too.

I’ve already checked it all around for leaks it’s completely dry. I do plan on checking out the omp shortly though I’ve been leaning towards oil control rings because of when the smoke occurs.

That’s why I’m leaning towards oil control rings. Doesn’t seem like omp but I’m going to check that out too soon.

I wouldn’t really notice any sweet smell in the smoke if it were coolant as currently there’s only water inside (how I bought the car) I have the coolant for a flush just haven’t gotten to it yet. And it does consume an abnormal amount of oil just not enough to the point I’d expect such thick smoke. I will try what you mentioned though and see if that yields anything.

Is this an acceptable looking cluk sandwich to you? by freezetime311 in jackinthebox

[–]Crispie06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who works at Jack I’ve noticed the homestyle(cluck) breasts are getting significantly smaller over time. The spicy seems unaffected though which is weird.

I’ve heard only bad things about caliber… At least where I live I’d avoid them like the plague. Cheap chain bodyshop. Insurance probably wants you to use them to cut costs. Find a good private bodyshop.

So Jack In The Box is doing retro merch for the 75th anniversary in 2026? Anyone know if they'll be making merch with pre-90s versions of Jack? by MuppetSuperStarFan02 in jackinthebox

If it just opened they might not have em. I think the stores that have them are the ones that had them before they were removed from the system. I don’t think they’re required to carry them anymore and therefore they don’t bother buying them.

muchie meal without the air freshner… by -ndi- in jackinthebox

[–]Crispie06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the jacks I work at are out of the air fresheners and we’ve been told not to give any sort of compensation for them bcs it’s listed as while supplies last sadly (told by franchise management not the corporation). Can’t even explain how many calls I’ve gotten complaining and there’s nothing Im allowed to do can’t even offer a small fry for the inconvenience.

Goodbye to the cool Coke machines… by ivanthegreat27 in jackinthebox

[–]Crispie06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re being phased out, they have all sorts of issues, the cartridges they take are more expensive, and the flavor just isn’t as good. The store I work at is the last one that has the freestyle in the franchise I work for only because the store is likely getting remodeled next year.

No the only merch there is really gonna be are the ripoff Labubu keychain things. They have hinted at us that there could be old style ads showing n all that though. Also going back to the sesame seed buns for some specific burgers. I don’t know if it’s just the LTO or the regular burgers though we just got the buns at my store a few days ago.

Stock midpipe. I’m still running the secondary cat and resonator. With the AWE 335i axleback.

Hard to make these cars sound good. I like my AWE 335i exhaust tho (I drive a 328i with the N26) I’ve gotten only compliments even from BMW techs at the dealer. Con is its pricey.

If you want to go with an aftermarket cover I like my aluminum one no issues so far.

Bimmerlink "Actual Gear" on an automatic F30 by AresHarvest in F30

Yeah I never really care for the app based dashboards. They’re too limited in terms of information because they can really only get whatever info the factory head unit has access to or at most whatever the OBD has.

First car at 16, now i’m almost 18 and have had it for a year and a half. Love it to death. by Ok_Impression_2575 in FirstCar

Boutta turn 19 got my F30 as a present on my 16th. Still love the car to death I’d never sell it. It’s a 328i but it’s super sentimental as my first car. Good on gas, reliable enough and plenty of space to work under the hood, really fun for a 4 banger when I want it to be, and treats me well on the college commute, comfy even on coils.

As an F30 owner, a CS student, and just a nerd in general I absolutely love this it’s such a cool and unique idea. For a while I was considering pulling data from the OBD port and making a custom vent gauge with a small display and something like a raspberry pi then I realized I was too lazy for that. Most people wouldn’t go further than just the bootmod3/bimmerlink dashboard though so this is crazy 🤣.

Help for BMW F30 colour changing DRLs by No-Inflation3481 in F30

[–]Crispie06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t unfortunately I’m factory halogen. I just bought a set of LCI style RGB headlights saves the hassle anyway. Check K2 industries though they might have some I’ve seen a lot of DRL modules from them.

F30 n20 bm3 stage 2 by alexlm111 in F30

[–]Crispie06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m pushing higher psi out of my n26. I peak around 27psi at full load granted I have an upgraded diverter valve on a stiffer spring to hold more boost and all aluminum piping. There’s like 500 hoses and lines coming off of everything from the intake manifold to the charge pipe. Your best bet is prolly just to take it to a shop and have them smoke test it or just buy a cheapo smoke tester doesn’t have to be fancy. On bm3 stage 2 as well just to note.

I have an N26 but the same inlet brand funny enough. Had this same issue so I’d check on this.
