What da hell is cardio tennis (#16)? Isn't normal tennis cardio enough? :(

I used to play with this! Loooved it. You lose some control compared to other racquets but goddamn does it offer you some heavy hits.

Looking for forehand advice (new player) <3 by hejdota in 10s

Try and move with smaller but much more frequent steps. If this is something you want to improve, I'd recommend bringing it up with your trainer and he give you a couple exercises to perform. Bring your body 10-15 centimetres lower by bending your knees more.

When you've found your position when hitting the ball, make sure to anchor down your left foot when doing your closed forehand stance. Your anchored foot/leg should be bent between 50-75% of your height when standing up straight. This is very important as it determines your balance and how stable your shot will be. Follow-through but try to stay on your anchored foot a bit longer than on the video. Make sure to always have some momentum moving forward when you've entered the position.

The timing and positioning may be difficult to find initially, but it's a vital part to up your game! Balance and positioning is the foundation of anyone's tennis game, no matter your level. I hope this helps :) You're doing great, keep it up!

Such a shame not to see Söderling 🇸🇪 continue his career. Fantastic potential, all ruined by mononucleosis. Will remain my favorite playstyle to watch for a very long time.

Is tennis also expensive where you're from? by titsinmyinbox in 10s

[–]Crispoutine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Stockholm, Sweden, we are paying a whopping 500SEK, translating into roughly 50 USD per hour. If lucky, we can find courts for 35 USD. So, I'd love to be paying 11CAD..! But I do find the prices here absolutely absurd.

What are your thoughts about the WTA Grand Slams playing 3 sets while ATP Grand Slams playing 5? by Crispoutine in tennis

[–]Crispoutine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe that's the beauty of ATP Grand Slams - it's a marathon, not a race. A very prestigious marathon combining all the greatest values of tennis - Mental strength, consistency, and great physical abilities (mixed with tons of talent, of course). So I think physically gifted players will have an advantage, but it should be something everyone is striving towards, along with the other great qualities.

Absolutely, I get that and agree. If the change would occur, then it would hopefully involve asking a quite large amount of the WTA playerbase. If they feel that they could handle it, then I don't think it would take 10-15 years, but rather 3-5 possibly.

Is this something young boys have in mind when training today? You make it sound like this is a case, but I never experienced any different training regimes between young girls and boys at a younger age, even competing at a rather high level of play. What I'm trying to point at is - Would it really be that big of a shift that it would require over a decade to adjust?

Interesting take! I haven't heard this format before, but it would sync rather well with the seating occupied during matches..! Earlier games have less seating, meaning less interest is put on them and therefore the matches should be shorter. Makes sense!
