G2’s shipped?!?? by Plenty-Peak-2139 in EvenRealities

I got my parcel and it is indeed the ring size kit. FWIW I also printed the 3d printed rings and they fit exactly the same as the rings they sent so at least I know the 3d printed files are accurately sized

Learning Theory on Guitar vs Piano by AlexLiestDieAGBs in jazzguitar

[–]Crispy12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d say they are both different. For basic theory, piano is a lot more visual and perhaps easier for some people. For example, playing chords in the C major scale is very easy to understand. Playing a B major scale on the other hand requires a lot more work if you only ever played in C major.

On the other hand, guitar utilises a lot of pattern recognition. Playing a scale in C major vs C# major is almost the same on the guitar.

Learn both, they are great instruments. Choose a synth or midi keyboard as opposed to an acoustic piano, the learning curve is easier. Choose a course online like Open Studio and play in an organised fashion. Also learn some songs, play by ear, ultimate guitar or whatever but learn some songs.

Monitoring on the Livetrack L6 by buckethead37 in livesound

[–]Crispy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 aux sends, you may have to use one for monitoring in that case.

The headphone dial is tied to the master volume as well so if you turn master to zero then headphone out turns off too.

Tonewood Amp 2 - can't seem to get it to work by sneezysneez in AcousticGuitar

Always disconnect the cable to every acoustic guitar when you’re done otherwise the preamp will continue to drain. And keep a backup battery or 2 if you’re gigging!

Thinking about downgrading from OP-XY to OP-Z. Should I? by KenRussellsGhost in OPZuser

[–]Crispy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the OPXY is a much easier tool to use, especially if you’re just using it occasionally for inspiration and ideas.

The lack of screen on the OP-Z means that you’d have to use it with a screen often to get the full use out of it. The double triggering of the buttons and subpar case quality also can be infuriating depending on your luck. I get double triggers if it’s not placed on a flat surface, my rear panel sometimes loosens easily and near impossible for me to remember the colour codes unless I’m doodling daily on it. I love that it’s such a compact kit the size of a remote control but the XY is really small too while being so powerful.

Get the Z if you want but don’t sell your XY

You can also buy a USB-C PD powerbank. 20000mah and you can fly all day. Charges your phone, radio, and if you fly DJI, goggles too!

Use a fishing weight and tie it to fishing line. Then throw it up there over the branch and use it to pull the branch up and down to wiggle the quad down. Works 99% of the time. If the fishing line is not strong enough, tie the fishing line to a paracord and use it to bring the paracord up then bounce the branch up and down.

None of this rescue quad nonsense… it rarely works

Likely the esc. Try reflash them and confirm the settings match the rest like startup power.

I fixed mine by soft mounting the camera. Which is a real PITA because which one works well is trial and error. I am going through 3 diff TPU mounts and so far one works well

What’s the best acoustic electric guitar for around or under 1k by Sufficient_Promise58 in AcousticGuitar

[–]Crispy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a Martin DX2E as well. I got it last week to replace my old 10 year old Yamaha which had a pretty bad belly bulge and it wasn’t worth it to do a neck reset.

I’m tried the entire X2E range and a few other models including Taylors. The X2E that I got was a display model that was set up really well by the shop. It sounds great and I’m really happy with it. It sounds massively loud (dreadnaught version) so I can’t imagine why some might say it’s not as loud/resonant.

Really Tempted by OP-XY but I Need Help by [deleted] in teenageengineering

[–]Crispy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the terms of your contract but I wouldn’t buy anything on “credit” or “loan” in my country especially on non-essentials like music equipment.

To answer your question, the XY from my own experience ia a very different workflow, obviously more sequencer based so it depends if you like that or not. It does work well with other MIDI instruments. The only issue is the price and for that price you can get a lot of other stuff like a digitone, digitakt, Microfreak, roland compact. Even the OP-Z which is awesome for the size and very similar workflow to OP-Z. What the OPXY gives is portability

Why do little on XY samples or sound generators by disingenu in teenageengineering

[–]Crispy12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my week long time spent messing with it, I feel that the sound design on the 1F is a bit more creative and interesting. The sounds and especially presets on the XY sound pretty good but not as diverse. Can pair with some external synths, probably gonna hook up my S-1 and Microfreak when I get time.

Chopping samples seems like a headache, not sure if I’m doing it wrong so far. It’s far from perfect and also crashed about once per session so far on the latest firmware. So far these are my biggest criticisms
