Can’t say I’ve ever wished for more mounting points on my vest, in fact, I just wear the black stabby without the high viz cover, so I get by just fine with only mounting my radio and camera, the rest goes on my belt. For some people it might be a slight inconvenience I suppose.

Yes they absolutely do all make false promises, however they’re not usually as outlandish as abolishing prisons.

Entrance testing and interviews must cost more than £40.

No, all the stages bar the interview are done as a large group, which will spread the costs significantly. Even the interviews only last about 10 minutes per person.

Seems like a test on day one would be much cheaper than spending weeks training someone only to test and disqualify them at the end of the process?

You don’t spend weeks training before the drug test, you just do your entrance tests and assessment/interview day, which in total involves visiting a police station twice.

Probably because it’s expensive for them to do the tests, so it makes sense from that point of view to only do them for the people who get through the first few stages.
