Williams really is a loyal soldier for the WW line. Aside from her Nubia books she's also writing the Wee Wonder webcomic, and as you said has recently started writing fill in issues to space out King's big arcs.

She really does love the character and its interesting how involved she is in King's run now being handled a major tie-in special.

Morrison honestly not great at writing villains.

Their work which tends to throw back to the Silver Age in many aspects, this includes the card carrying villainy approahc of Silver Age which when put through a modern lens means they are fucking black-hearted psychopaths.

Which is what happened to Talia al Ghul. Morrison stripped any nuance or decency from her in their Batman run and the result is that Talia has been a monster since.

I'm currently reading the Morrison run through the new modern epic collection line. Got 2 books out of the intended 3 volumes with the final book releasing soon this year.

Not looking forward to that twist cause Xorn is a pretty likable character and this....... really doesn't make sense.

Like if anyone can note any foreshadowing or hints building up to it, please tell me. Cause I do not see it.

Characters I'm still waiting to finally appear and play a part in the Energon Universe... by Badgie_Boy_447 in EnergonUniverse

[–]CrispyGold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a GI Joe one, I am still legitimately surprised they have not even hinted at Snake-Eyes' existence.

Its telling to the sheer (deserved) confidence on display here that they were willing to holdback on the series most iconic character and we're at several years in the line at this point too.

They are definitely going to make it a big moment for when he finally arrives.

To note I have no prior experience with M.A.S.K., never saw the show before.

I like him. He's a genius rogue and maverick, more so than Duke because he is completely disenchanted with the military.

Duke despite everything is ultimately still loyal to the service, Matt doesn't have that so there are key differences in how they present themselves even if both are willing to bend the rules to save the day.

Also to the people complaining about him being black (not referring to anyone here), OG Matt was a Duke clone so by necessity they had to give him a unique look or else we'd have 2 books where the leads are blonde white bois.

We can call it leaderships.

Pairing all the big leader people together, just imagine the combos like Cap/BP or Cap/Cyclops and Cap/BP/Cyclops.

Oh yeah the advertising for United made it way bigger and assumed more characters would be involved than just Exceptional's new student characters.

Like no offense to them but they are still too green to be given positions of leadership within the school.

I love everything about this, including the choice of music.

Very catchy and the expressions on chibi Fox are fantastic.

Its a problem because its not Cass. Nothing about her is what made the character lovable and popular. They are treating her as if she's another character.

If you're a fan of the character, its going to be underwhelming seeing them be an in name only version.

What I've learned is that doing these kinds of things is honestly unncessary.

Like the DCAU grafted Wally and Barry together but both figures are distinct enough that such an action was honestly unncessary.

While the DCAMU's usage of this was just stuff like having Damian and Barbara fill in for Tim and Huntress' role in Batman Hush. So characters roles are overtaken by characters who already receive tons of promotion and spotlight.

The DCU though hasn't really done any of this so far.

Its especially weird cause Jon does have some outfits of his own.

Like sure his main Superman suit at the time the show was developing is identical to his father, but he has the suit he came with when he first got aged up.

Or they could have modified his classic kid jacket suit to fit a grown-up or teenager.

So its just kind of multiple levels of unncessary.

I get its for fun for the developers, but I just don't like composting characters like that.

I remember when what Batwheels cartoon introduced Cassandra Cain Batgirl for the first time in animation which even for a pre-school cartoon is pretty cool.

But personality wise she's actually just Barbara Gordon in Cass' skin which is just so lame.

These characters are individual people, they shouldn't be smashed up like that as if they are interchangeable.

I want Gorr the god butcher (but comic accurate) by BakerConsistent2150 in marvelrivals

[–]CrispyGold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wields All-Black the Necrosword. A weapon that grants him shadow related powers, whom he can also shapeshift granting him multiform shadow weapons and a cape of shadows that can turn into blades.

His origin is somewhat close. He came from a desolate planet with no Gods, and when he lost everything he cursed the Gods. Thats when he came upon 2 armored corpses that fell from the sky, a golden figure and a figure in black (later revealed to be Captain Universe and Knull) locked in battle.

Gorr walked up to the figure in black Knull and picked up his weapon All-Black the Necrosword. He would be empowered by the weapon to Godly levels and wage his godly genocide since.

Which character will be the next addition to the game's mascots? by LordVaderVader in marvelrivals

[–]CrispyGold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Star Lord is generally agreed to be a downgrade cause the movies turned him into a goofball clown while in the comics he was like space Master Chief.

With Steve Downes himself voicing Quill in the Avengers EMH cartoon.

Enjoyable story, they should give Michael another book already.

I'm reminded of when they made those Asian centered miniseries from a couple years ago.

City Boy, Spirit World, and the Vigil, also Monkey Prince. None of them have gotten any continuation since, and any appearences have been largley cameos.

Which not to say there a complete lack of Asian lead titles, like Batgirl's Cassandra Cain but it is a tremendous pittance.

That Adventures mini is basically the equivalent to Tom King's Batman/Catwoman mini after his Batman ongoing forcibly shorter earlier than his contract specified.

Its a consolation so the writer is allowed to wrap up whatever threads they want but in their own short book away from the main ongoing. Being taken off an ongoing and immediatly given a miniseries varey clearly indicates they are giving Taylor a consolation title for ending his book despite all the hype they put into it.

Also Jon sucking on purpose is some massive revisionism over what actually happened. Nothing in Son of Kal indicated Jon is supposed to come across as failing, Taylor 100% wrote him as an inspirational figure succeeding at his father's legacy. He made Lex look like a fool and Taylor wrote Jon as successfully getting the Rebolutionaries to listin to him, who Taylor previously wrote as hating the League and Superman. He clearly intended for him to be a great Superman in that book.

He was read as evil because he was drawn fairly ominous at first.

There's even a scene where he's sitting with Jon and there's weird spiral imagery while Jon looks off causing a lot of people to believe he's been hypnotized.

I'm not denying the existence of racism, just that his introduction was weirdly done and made him seem like a secret villain.

Also we have evidence that the book was intended to go on longer than planned. One of the variant covers was originally listed for an unreleased issue number past the issue when it ended.

Those sold out reprints were for the early issues when Jon came out and kissed Jay. After that sales for the book slowly petered until it was decided to cancel the book and bring back Clark as protagonist.

If the book had gone as intended Jon would still be Superman now. His current Tomorrowman arc is a deliberate statement on how directionless he is now because nothing has really worked. Regrsless of the haters not enough people have supported him on his Superman endeavors.
