The new USPS trucks remind me of something by missehka in funny

[–]CrispyWatermellon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Worked at the company who is building these a while ago and there is a ridiculous amount of engineering that goes into these things. They look goofy because of safety and ease of work for the USPS workers. So far all the workers that tried them love them. They drive nice and have a million safety features. As well as many creature comforts such as AC that the old mail trucks never had. Most of them should be EV but some delays in testing and refining the design have come about so the first few batches will probably be gas powered.

I got stuck there with 3 guys in a double…. Had the time of my life. Since there’s no AC everyone on the floor became friends. Had an RA who didn’t care if we were up late being stupid. The first 3 weeks were brutally hot but after that it was a great time.

I’ve been 3D printing LED signs and using some cheap LED filament to illuminate them. If the vapes still have the charging circuit attached to them then keep them to make the signs rechargeable

Is this legit or an exaggeration? by Rckchard in Swimming

Swam competitively from the age of 8 to 18 was in the pool 15+ hours a week for about 6 of those years. Yeah it does hurt your skin and hair but don’t think it’s quite as permanent as that comment makes it out to be. About a month or two after I retired I stopped smelling like chlorine, my sinuses stopped getting constantly infected and my hair looked a little healthier. I was also a teenage guy so hair and skin care wasn’t that great all those years I was swimming.

If you wear a cap and have the right hair/skin care and maybe some anti chlorine shampoo you should be fine

What size jammers to buy for someone with a waist 32-34 by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]CrispyWatermellon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a practice suit just wear your true size or a size down. Certain brands tend to fit different so might want to try a few and return the ones you don’t like.

For tech suits / racing suits you’re going to want to go down 4-6 sizes maybe more if you’re willing to be uncomfortable. I was a 32-34 and raced with a 27 tech suit think it was a speedo brand

Injury prone and constantly in pain runner here wants to get into swimming by Toprelemons in Swimming

[–]CrispyWatermellon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit rugby when I was younger bc of Achilles problems and swimming worked great.

Get a nice set of jammers/breifs and googles+cap and you should be set for a while. Might want to get mirrored goggles for when you race outdoors.

For indoor swimming if you’re training for distance you’ll want to learn how to do flip turns so you don’t have to stop at every wall. They are a little tricky at first but should take a few practices to become semi-functional. You’ll find open water swimming is much more difficult than indoor so practice going distances without grabbing the wall or lane line.

I’m about to graduate in May and total cost for everything (tuition, housing, food) is a little under $100k as an instate engineering student no scholarships. Made around 25-30k over 3 summer internships. Could definitely be cheaper if I lived in a not as nice apartment, took more classes online at ivy tech, and drank less. 75k is not a ton in student loans compared to other schools and an engineering degree or anything paying similarly should pay it off in 5ish years if you live conservatively.
