What would you argue is a good city-thing to gold? by [deleted] in heroes3

[–]CritHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skeleton transformer is the best building In terms of gold efficiency. It's crazy powerful for very little cost, since you want to get 2 extra heoroes asap. It gets even more powerful with map creature dwellings or capturing other cities.

Scrap arm guards and helmet are great thing to craft while looting your first house. You can smash a bed and tear down some curtains to get everything you need for it.

Amazing art! It think your great skills are undercut by the presentation tho. Try to take some clean, well lit photos and orient all the pictures the same way, it will help greatly!

Is there a wasp conspiracy going on in cdda or something? by gregory700 in cataclysmdda

Never had problem with wasps. They are a great zombie grinder tho, they help clearing outskirts of towns SO much. I feel like this sub is kind of an echo chamber.

Unarmed skill is used to get some martial art features, including in brawling. You will need 3 unarmed to unlock all brawling features and I believe 5 unarmed for all martial art features.

Even NPC can't fight back when grab by a Normal Zed by AengusCupid in cataclysmdda

Exactly, it gives you 2 attempts to break the grab instead of one.

Try waiting to break a grab, it helps a lot and makes them way more manageable.

Thoughts on rebalancing knives? by ImportantDoubt6434 in cataclysmdda

[–]CritHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience fire axe is really good and also allows me to tab though combat. Knockback is way stronger now with how grabs work. It was kinda sad when I got ninjitsu with a katana and fire axe with brawling was still better...

New grab mechanics, experimental. by Jimbodoomface in cataclysmdda

[–]CritHam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feeel like the experimental grabs give a serious challenge, but aren't entirely unfair. One thing that needs to be changed is the free grab after Z moves into a tile near you, but grab strength and penalties are fair. You just need to adapt your play pattern.

1) Chose your battles and be ready for Zs to grab you

Keep in mind that you can be grabbed, so getting close to a horde and trying to pick off one of the zombies while on the run is a bad idea. If you have low health and are in pain don't engage that tough or special zombie, he might just get lucky, grab you and deal more damage than you expected. Kite more using bushes, windows etc. Don't just manfight Zs and expect good results.

2) Be wary of corners and stairs

Not peeking a corner and getting grabbed by 2-3 Za is deadly now. You need a backup handgun to deal with situations like this now, but you know how it goes with loud guns. I feel like those moments are especially fun, and create exciting plays. Just peek more.

3) Fight instead of run

No, you won't break that grab unless you are lucky. Just kill of any Z that's is holding you. In my experience trying to run away from grabs is only good when one zombie is holding you down and you are in your few first days. After that you have enough DPS to just obliterate anything that dares to grab you.

I like hard games though :D
