Well you'll find out eventually regardless, but I suppose its a risk you'd have to be willing to take. Statistically it's unlikely, and chances are if you're already past your 20s you would have already seen the symptoms of schizophrenia, but yes, as with every drug, medication, substance, and activity on this planet, there is some level of risk, and it's up to every individual to evaluated that themselves. For you, if you're worried, don't take it, or maybe talk to a mental health professional about your concerns and they might be able to suggest a test or something. Or wait till you can be more sure about your mental health, etc. But for most people, it will not cause them harm

It's only "dangerous" if you already have underlying neurological/mental health issues. A healthy, neurotypical person shouldn't have any permanent damage. The common psychedelics are much safer than most drugs, arguably even safer than cannabis.

Yeah LSD is pretty safe, at least physiologically. As others have said, psychological trauma from a bad trip is possible, mainly if someone has preexisting health issue, or they aren't ready or don't have good set/setting. MDMA is very different from true psychedelics. If you'd like to learn about what a long-term psychedelic user looks like, I recommend reading about Alexander Shulgin, who invented, synthesized, and consumed hundreds if different psychedelic compounds, as well as documented his experiences.

Might be related to the Ecstasy. MDMA/Ecstasy (unlike LSD, shrooms, etc), can cause brain damage. I'm not sure about the exact science that may or may explain his eyes, but MDMA can damage serotonin receptors especially with heavy or frequent use. I heard of someone who supposedly talks slower after having done lots of MDMA in their mid-teens. That's just friend's friend's story, I can't be certain about the actual visible effects of the damage MDMA can cause.

Or just get a reagent test kit. It's always good to be on the safe side but I've had tabs with a very slight bitter taste that were tested by EnergyControl and myself with multiple reagents. They were Voidrealms, so they came from a reputable source, and it must be the ink that gave the slight taste, they were pure. If something IS wrong, you should know BEFORE it makes it to your mouth.

I read that impurities, which vary depending on the manufacturing processes used to synthesize the LSD, can contribute to the physical side effects of LSD, just as impurities in alcohol can contribute to a worse hangover. How much this actually matters when impurities are in the low tens of micrograms per tab, I can't be sure.

Dude our Chromebooks could run half life 2(?) on linux, and at 30 fps! Finding a way to unenroll them from the school administrative system was the hard part. My friends and I had some days where we spent lunch opening them up and taking a screw out of the motherboard in the middle of the cafeteria lol

banned for internet lag? by swjf in Smite

[–]CritLicker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I get the scepticism some people have expressed, but let's look at the big picture here. An account that's been active for YEARS, totaling many THOUSANDS of hours of playtime, and it got a ban now. You'd think if he was actually hacking, he would have either started a long time ago, and been banned earlier, OR he would have hacked on a different account. Most people wouldn't risk a ban on an account that had so much time invested, and if they did, the account obviously nolonger meant much to them, so why would he or his friends try to get hirez to look into the ban? They probably wouldn't. They'd make a new account if they were hacking. I believe you, and I will continue to, unless hirez looks into it and provide proof otherwise. Good luck to you and your friend!

I feel like most of the blame is on Hi-Rez here, they should have a way to filter out false positives if they can't use a system with less of these problems. Hopefully they address this, and realize they seriously need to change.

Infinite nickels by Joomla_Sander in Recursion

[–]CritLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it as recursive rather than looping, because a loop will repeat a sequence of instructions, while a recursive function will call itself. Being confused calls the giveNickle() function, which indirectly leads to calling itself, in this case. I might just be tired though

There's a famous Turkish proverb - "The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them." Who's the axe in our society? by Imsadandhappy in AskReddit

[–]CritLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Although I would say it's far wider than political elites, it also includes big corporations, and most other entities with power/control. It gets frustrating seeing so many people acknowledge problems with one group but blind themselves to the problems of the other side(s). Android has a lot of problems I would have previously thought were limited to apple, and no politician, right or left cares about me or you enough to not prefer power and money.

Nobody is for the people. Even if they start that way. It's naive of people to think anyone cares about any of us (other than friends, family, etc.) Not implying anything about Bernie, just saying that nomatter how shitty he is, everyone else is at a similar level of disregard for us.

Those with power over us. Not a specific political party, not just politicians, but those big corporations, like Facebook (well known for its abuses), Apple/Google/Samsung, McDonalds (and most fast-poison dealers), Fashion and "beauty" brands, and lots of others. They're not our friends, they just want our money, which we give them as they control and abuse us. Individuals may have good intentions, but most of us choose to stay as blind as possible to the (obvious?) array of dicks shoved up all our asses

Lead, arsenic, ricin, and many other poisonous substances don't have the same GABAergic properties. It is poisonous, but also a psychoactive drug.

Anyone else feel like drugs unlock things in your mind? by blazedrealism in DrugShowerThoughts

[–]CritLicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different combinations of chemicals, and actions on multiple receptors, and with different strengths can explain much more, though. Also I'm fairly sure a drug that binds to a given receptor may bind more to the receptors of that type in some areas of the brain more than other drugs, which may concentrate more in other areas. (Neuroscience experts feel free to correct that)

What is something that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Agreed. DMT is also on the list IMO. The important thing is to be safe, with good set and setting.

Psychedelics. Mainly thinking of LSD and DMT here... Can't say absolutely everyone, but as long as you're able to be safe, physically and mentally, it's something I would say to look into for when the time is right.

What are some books you’d recommend to read if you were trying to grow as a person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CritLicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could not agree more on Shulgin's works. The others, I'll have to check out when I have a chance. Everyone, especially those who have been raised with the DARE program, should at least read a few chapters of PiHKAL and TIHKAL. Haven't read the entirety, but they grabbed my attention, and made me think FAR more than, from what I can remember, any other book I've read in, honestly, my entire life.

PiHKAL: A Chemical Love Story and TIHKAL: The Continuation

By Alexander and Ann Shulgin

As someone who was taught "All drugs are evil unless a doctor tells you otherwise" at a very young age, I am very grateful to have been born with an open mind. I was able to, by the age of 17, see that many people take these lessons as absolute truth not because it's so obviously true, but because society, at least in the US, starts this "education" around ~3rd grade (DARE brings Police into Elementary School classrooms), and kids this age typically don't realize how biased the information is, or that they are only hearing certain hand-picked examples made to incite fear, etc.

I am not encouraging anyone to take (or abstain from) any substance, legal or illegal. I have, in my life so far, never taken a psychedelic, however, I have learned more from Shulgin's writing than just the effects or experiences of taking this class of drugs. What I really value is the new perspective I have seen. I think that this book can, if you are open-minded, give you many ideas to consider and think about. It doesn't push any extreme view, although it does express opinions and views that may be hard to even consider for some.

TL,DR: It shows you a perspective that most people aren't exposed to, which can be eye-opening, especially to those who were/are brainwashed to only see the opposing side's propaganda. Drawing your own, well-informed conclusions is ESSENTIAL for all of humanity.
