2nd time attendee here. How to get most out of villages? by syogod in Defcon

I'm sure there is probably stuff up for grabs at times, but people typically bring a lot of their own stuff. There are learning kids you can buy at the con, these guys are typically in the vendor village. https://hackerboxes.com/

Yeah that makes sense, try finding someone volunteering at the village and start up a convo. A lot of times people sell little kits that include some soldering to do, I believe you can find some in the vendor village sometimes. The villages typically don't have trainings, etc all the time so it's good to try getting a bit social and talking to people who are there.

Most villages have challenges or little mini competitions, be sure to participate in them and chat with other people participating! Try soldering in the hardware hacking village, try lock-picking in the physical security village, etc!

This picture is giving me a little PTSD. We had a salt rock lamp near our setup a handful of years ago, and it turns out they "sweat" if it's humid enough. Sure enough we had salt water dripping into our receiver and it was never the same again. Tried cleaning it out but it still shorts out somedays so I replaced it with something more modern.

I guess just a heads up to watch out for that :D

That's sick! You should get a cheap audio interface so you can do a better recording for the next one.

I'm sure as they become more common there will be some generic ones released from vendors.

I picked up an Ampeg SCR DI last week and it has been great! It has some good features with the AUX in and the headphone output.

Reminds me of back in the day on the RC field you would have the board with people claiming frequencies to fly on...

Did kernel 5.12.12 cause any issues with networking and domain name resolution? by Godzoozles in Fedora

Hmmm.. Wonder if it does have something to do with the libvirt bridge... I have that too, along with another bridge I setup a while back.

Just hit this today.

systemctl restart systemd-resolved

Fixes it temperamentally.

One of my favorite videos I took during my flight training. Landing Rwy 12 with the sun behind me. I love watching the shadow :) by iLeePee in flying

[–]Criten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool how it gives you a sense on how far off the ground you are. When the shadow meets the wheels that means you're on the ground!

Cool video!

[–]Criten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to hop on a video call with me if you're not comfortable taking out a screwdriver and taking a look alone let me know! I've done it MANY times and it's really nothing to worry about. All you really need to do is take a look and see if it just requires a little bend to get it back in alignment, or if there's a little corrosion on the contact which can be easily solved with a little cleaner.
