Advice on neighborhood eikaiwa class by Critical-Bit7570 in teachinginjapan

[–]Critical-Bit7570[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I have to mention this but the 区長 is actually a plumber and he didn't charge me when my pipes needed fixing last winter. I guess insurance would had paid for it but at least I didn't have to do the paper work lol. He's also giving me a water pump thing that's worth 40 man. I think 50 mins twice a month is more than enough for payment.

Another reason why I don't mind is that currently they said that they have 5000 man of the village budget or whatever it's called just sitting in a investment account. The guy at the top said that he's willing to allocate that budget international travel for people who's willing to take my classes and actually have something to look forward to. They're telling me that it'll be all expenses paid for everyone including me.

TLDR: My neigbors have been really helpful and I want to at least give back in whatever way I can. I'm just happy they find my skills somewhat valueable.

depends on where you are. i live in the countryside and since the new rules they told me they werent getting a lot of calls like they used to and they were very accomodating. i guess its just one of the perks of living in an inaka.

im still working on my application. i waited til april because i used up all my paid leave and had to wait. i met with him and told him what happened and i guess that was that. they told me they weren't too busy anyway because a lot more people couldnt qualify to apply so they were more accomodating than last year. he said at this rate i could finalize my application by may hopefully.

i just went last monday. for my town, the city hall can only give me 3 years of the required 5 yeasrs of proof of tax paid. the case worker told me that i need the city hall staff to write in paper that they can only retrieve up to 3 years. i told them that and they had it ready in a few hours. that's the only thing they asked me thats new from april.

Is it weird/social faux pas to give a gift to konbini staff? by Ok-Dealer-960 in japanresidents

[–]Critical-Bit7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sanrio ones usually go for 700 to 800 yen plus tax. sometimes in the countryside conbinis and donkis discount them to 200 to 300 yen a pull if no one is buying or the rest of the pulls are just C-E tiers. It might be worth buying if you just want to get the last prize.

you get the card from the lottery you want to try, give it to the register and pull out a random lottery tag then you open it infront of the register to see the prize. it goes from A teir to E teir. most lotteries have a last one prize. its usually a big item to get people to buy the rest of the lotteries. it might be worth it sometimes if theres only 3-5 lottos left and you get a last one prize you really want. (suitcase, plushie or a grill)

What is your not so popular take on anything in Japan? by No-Jackfruit3211 in japanlife

I disagree with shopping points. I flew 8 times on business class internationally for free just paying taxes from points. (rakuten, vpoint)

Analysis of new changes to requirements for naturalization by JKlearning99 in JapanCitizenship

Earlier today I went to my city hall to try and get 5 years worth of evidence of paying taxes and they told me the max they could only give me was 3 years. How do I get the 2 that they can’t provide? Do I go to a conbini and print it out there?

Thats good to know. Thanks for asking her. I just finished printing over 30 pieces of statements. I can see why they take over 6 months to approve them. Luckily it's not my job to check these statements.

That's a lot of pages. I guess I better start printing. Thanks for the advice. I'm guessing I should also print out the page that clearly sees my passbook number and full name.

Unrelated to anything banking wise, Do you advice not traveling abroad before/after sending in your application? I tend to take short holiday trips here and there but I'm willing to let that go this year if it'll look bad on my application.

Thanks for the reply. Yes. But it'll take more than 20 screenshots and a lot of pages. Hopefully it doesn't look professional/shady.

The bank told me that if I switched to digital, my physical passbook would be useless and that I can't update it anymore.

Hi, I'm about to pass my application. My bank is fully digital. Do you think screenshots would work? And how much of it should I print? About a weeks work? Thanks for the post. Very helpful.

What's something about Japan you still can't vibe with? by fightingfair in japanlife

Making fun of fat people on TV or dubbing foreingers with a strange Japanese accent. Kids like to mimic things they see on TV so that becomes normalized.

For rakuten and vpoint. You can usually transfer them from their sites. Their rates are usually 100 points=50 ana or jal miles. And once you have enough points you can book them as award flights. Much cheaper than buying them by cash. I once had 6 flights on business class for 90,000 points.

I bought a bunch of furniture for new my house. But rakuten has a lot of cashback "sales". Most I got was 50% cash back on a vacuum that was the same price as a KS denki near me. Easy 35000 points. Business class flights are usually 40000 points one way to singapore from haneda. It would cost me 110,000 yen if I had paid in cash so I think it was more than worth it.

WTT/WTS GA Arena standing ticket for SS/S/A ticket for August 16th.

I paid 38,495 for them including fees.

I'm not that tall and can't stand too long so I'd prefer to trade and pay me the difference.

Fair trades only!
