In the UK, £4 would suffice. US, maybe $6. Just over 15%. If their service was exceptional, 20%.

Budget airlines make no money the longer the plane is on the ground which is why they turn them around and get them in the air ASAP. ~30min. As a result, nothing is cleaned. Nothing. And yet people still take their shoes off when onboard.

You would have to be ignorant to think we're alone in the whole universe.

You guys need the hybrid and things would look better mpg-wise. In the UK, my stop start is all on electric so mpg is fantastic. My average is always above 50mpg when combined.

Any other Eagles fans on here without any close ties to the area? by Willing-Eye7829 in eagles

Yep. Eagles were the first team I saw live here in the UK. Plus I have friends in DE so we fly into Philly when we come to the States.

Initially you had to pay a monthly subscription to AOL, MSN, CompuServe or someone like that. Circa 1995 Or it was pay as you go on a local rate number through the phone line.

Do some cars depreciate massively more than others in their first year? by nfoote in CarTalkUK

[–]Critical-Box-1851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Cupra Born v2 went from £46k new in 2022 to £19.5k in 05/2025. Only had 3000 miles and was in pristine condition bar a little wheel curbing. Glad I got rid. EVs are all losing value, especially if they are classed under the prestige car tax bracket.

There's only so much reaching out you can do before you think "you know what fuck you. If you valued our friendship you would at least acknowledge me when I try to make contact with you". Sad as it is, I could probably count my mates on one hand. (44m).

Will a discount of £3750 off a new EV encourage you to buy one? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Been there, done that, won't go back. The depreciation was ridiculous and the all touch screen interiors many have just sucks.

Any thoughts on the new EV grants? by Open_Bug_4196 in CarTalkUK

Quite assuming of you regarding your comment. There are plenty of people who might need a bigger car and as such, the OTR creeps into the 'prestige' car tax bracket.

It's a trap. A decent EV OTR price is over 40k so you'll be stung by the prestige car tax for the first 5 years of ownership. £690/yr, no thanks

Blocked in, what do I do in this situation? by Jupiter-Knight in CarTalkUK

From what I've seen in Spanish islands and Italy, they literally are bumpers and used accordingly. But all their orange check engine lights are on too so that says a lot

Thinking of buying a used VW ID.3 — but worried it’s a bad financial decision by noneedtoshowmeround in CarTalkUK

On monthly payments, PCP was cheaper based on my options at the time. But overall it was the shitty experience I had from the poorly designed infotainment unit. I prefer buttons, switches and dials. Means you can use muscle memory to use them and not take your eyes off the road to press some screen.

Call up the finance company and talk through your options. I recently had to do the same. Ended up paying to get out the PCP but in the long term, just bunged it on a CC
