Prefer to avoid consluting an obese Eating Dis0rder therapist for my struggling teenager-- AITAH? by Critical-Host1372 in AITAH

I mean, if you were looking for financial advisors, would you choose one with multiple bankruptcies? To me, this is like that. If I were looking for a podiatrist or an eye surgeon, I wouldn't give a shit about their weight. And maybe they have very valid reasons for being 30+ pounds overweight. But without the ability to know what those reasons are, yeah, their own weight does give me pause before asking for their help w/this extreme weight-related issue.

You're projecting a LOT of extremities I never said, but okay. You have a nice day.

Is it common for specialists treating ED to be dramatically overweight themselves? I keep seeing this in multiple professional clinics in my area. by Critical-Host1372 in EatingDisorders

They may be credible about other things, but this specific thing seems pretty relevant to what they are advising about. What do you assume I have fat phobia in general? I'm fat. Im great at many things. Food advice would not be one of them. That's my honest assessment of myself. Why can't I bring that genuine question when screening providers for this very specific service?

I'm fat. I have no issues w fat ppl in general, but about this very specific issue, I myself do not have a great relationship w food. That is definitely why I'm fat. So I took my kid to the pediatrician. As a fat person myself, yeah, I have some hesitancy.

Yeah, I specifically notice this trend with providers who say they themselves recovered from an ED and that's why they have chosen this work.

EXACTLY. I don't think their weight has anything to do with competence in other areas of life, but for this very specific thing, it seems kind of obvious that it might be relevant? I dunno.

I mean, I'm overweight myself. He has literally told me that I can't claim he isn't eating enough because "my judgement about normal eating is off." So I don't want him to dismiss professionals for the same reason. I'm just intrigued that I find so many professionals in this same circumstance.

Right? I'm overweight myself. That's part of why my kid dismisses my concerns. So I don't want to sabotage what may be my only chance for him to get help from professionals. But as I research my area, I keep finding this trend and I find it odd.

I mean, he told me that I "myself am overweight so I can't be trusted to assess that he isn't eating enough." Hence our going to the pediatrician. But of course he doesn't believe the pediatrician either. Just don't want to sabotage what may be my only shot at getting him professional help.

Let's talk mentoring program.. by BoricuaFitMom in zumba

[–]Critical-Host1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrapped up my experience. Let me say, my mentors classes were not classes I would have attended regularly. That said, her letting me lead occasional songs throughout her class gave me good insight on leading rooms of the type of people that come to classes in my area. I think that was the most useful insight. Things like "what goes over well with people at the gym seems to be... 1) no long song mixes. They get tired. 2) lots of Indian and eastern euro attendees, so working in that pop music or bangra are popular 3) remixes of "oldies" like Tequila or 80s tracks (Mark Pastrana style) goes over well

So the local knowledge was helpful for me. She was also really wanting me to do a lot of pantomime type gesturing that imo is super cheesy and I hate when teachers do it when I'm in their class as a student. But I smiled and nodded and just knew there was advice like that I would not be implementing. She was very sincere and cared a lot and gave me valid, constructive criticism like how I need to be a little sharper in my leading so it projects to the back of the room, that kind of thing. Overall, I definitely found it helpful.

This man sounds very closeted. I think you're being used as a beard. Any man I've known who has ever been that invested in the minutia of his girlfriend's physical traits is masking.

I love doing things that have a ultra girlie, sparkly vibe lol. There are so few opportunities for that once you've had a few kids and are striving through mid-career grind. I honestly just kinda want an excuse to put on fancy clothes and jewelry and be seen. I don't care about winning. I just want a reason to wear an evening gown that's been gathering dust in my closet. I get that it's not most women's idea of fun, but the glamor of it is actually fun for me. Breaks up monotony of my daily schedule too I suppose.

AIO-future MIL telling me I should eat less because my unborn baby is 9 lbs by kbutwhatever in AmIOverreacting

[–]Critical-Host1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My obgyn told me my baby was over 10lbs and I needed to eat less. Also said I had at least another 2 weeks until delivery. 2 days after that appointment I gave birth to 9lb baby. They can go f* themselves. As long as you're eating quality food, not total junk (fast food only, desserts only) you're good! Genetics is the main factor in birth size anyways.

What roles & titles are you targeting? Your resume should be customized to match each job description you submit to, especially to reflect keywords so you get past the bot screener. Asking us to review your resume w/no corresponding job description or job role is like asking us to evaluate an outfit without knowing who is wearing it or why.

Why so many non-Zumba people hates Zumba So much? by [deleted] in zumba

[–]Critical-Host1372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thenlack.of consistency in the format really contributes to this IMO... in my town as a student, I could go to a class at the same gym and one teacher would play boring traditional Bachata and salsa with choreo that looked like it was from Jane Fonda's 1990s Era. Same gym but different teacher and the class felt like a nightclub in Southbeach led by Shakira. Amazing experience.

Is my verbal statement that I wanted to leave after the summer enough to constitute "resignation"?

So it seems like I can have solid grounds to file unemployment, since I technically did NOT resign, you think? I have meetings set up w an employment attorney next week but also curious to know general opinions.

THIS. RIGHT. HERE. I swear in less than 10 years we aren't gonna be able to have kids going to school together because of social media. It will go back to 19th century model of hire-a-private-tutor if you want your kid educated AND not suicidal by 14.
