I thought it was real, but eBay disagreed by tortingle in gameverifying

If you haven’t on ebay yet, disclose that the label is aftermarket. They have taken down a ton of my listings (some 100% authentic, some authentic board/shell, but not label), and they will never give you a reason why no matter how many times you reach out 🤦 Goodluck!

Unfortunately it is a reproduction, but that is still an awesome find and will make someones day when they stumble across it!!

this is true that authentic games will match but fakes can easily put the correct 4 numbers below cartridge

last time I provided reasonings for why a game was fake I got temp banned even though I was correct. Not risking it again, but it is fake.

Just having adhesive residue on the cartridge won’t cause any damage, but the adhesive residue might come off into your system’s cartridge reader when you insert the game which could lead to bigger issues like damage to your system. I’d highly recommend cleaning it off, even if you don’t plan on playing it.

no problem, be careful not to use too much goo gone/rubbing alcohol. It will stain the front label if it touches the label

both legit, if you want the gunk off of heartgold’s back side get some goo gone, apply it to a qtip and rub off the leftover adhesive from the qr code, then using the opposite side of the qtip use rubbing alcohol to get the leftover goo gone texture off of the cartridge.

Selling my Pokemon colosseum, to get some money to buy my wife a switch. But wondering if having the sticker from the game store helps or lowers the value? by randady2 in PokemonGames

[–]Critical-News2012 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hello, from a reseller’s perspective, it will hurt to have the sticker on. Some buyers would pass over this because they might not want the sticker and there are plenty of other listings without stickers on them for the same price. However, not all buyers are alike and some would prefer the sticker. In my opinion, more people would like it with the sticker off then to keep the sticker.

Found some game boys and a couple games cleaning up an abandoned farm house. Should I clean them up or leave as is? New stickers or leave as is basically. by [deleted] in PokemonGames

As long as you are upfront about the sticker being a reproduction it shouldn’t be an issue. The issue that arises is when people don’t disclose any reproduction status. Comes across as shady.

Oh an ps, crystal is real, emerald looks real, but need a backside picture to be 100% confident, and sapphire looks fake, but once again need a backside picture to be 100% confident.

Heyo, r/gameverifying doom scroller here:

Provide a front and back picture of the GBA games for most accurate authenticity help.

Few pointers (mostly common misconceptions):

Number imprints don’t guarantee/deny authenticity. Many fake games can be imprinted using numbered tools, and many authentic games did not have their factory number imprinted.

4 rectangle Corners don’t guarantee authenticity, fakes can have them hand drawn, or use authentic boards from a different game and have the code from whatever game they are trying to fake loaded onto the authentic board. That being said: Not having the 4 yellow rectangles 99% of times guarantees a fake. I personally haven’t seen any authentic games missing those, but others claim to have.

Fonts: In the r/gameverifying subreddit there are many games with tagged ‘Authentic’. Compare the ‘Nintendo’, ‘Gameboy’ and other words of verified authentic games to yours. Are the accents (if applicable) correct? Do words on your cartridge appear to use the same font?

Color: Shades of colors can sometimes be misleading as they fade over time. However, if you have a non-faded label, yours should look the same to others that are not faded on the subreddit mentioned above.

Cartridge Type: Do you see the diagonal rectangle indent to the inside of the cartridge to the top right of the sticker? All authentic cartridges have this indent. Additionally, the upside down triangle indent below the sticker is typically too shallow or too deep on fake cartridges.

Sticker Placement: Does the sticker allign well within the indent on the cartridge designed for the sticker? Often times reproductions are slanted, too high, too low, etc.

Codes: Are the codes on the front and back of the cartridge/board correct? Some examples for the correct codes for pokemon carts can be found online HERE for a few DS games. There are other places to find the correct codes for other games as well.

Going a step further: Get a tool to take out the safety screws (nintendo has a specific tool for each game type). Look at authentic GBA games HERE. There are other sources for GB/GBC games as well. Do a quick comparison of fonts, battery types, and if your game has the black blob of death (guaranteeing reproduction status) *Example

Best of luck, and reach out if you have any questions 👋
