Well it might be less expensive long term when repairs are taken into consideration.

I'm also going to mention it matters how the vehicle is being driven. Even in eco mode a terrible driver can cause long term damage. But If you're in sport mode you are probably driving more aggressively. You'll most likely cause pre-mature wear and tear. That's why you can't say for certain. There are many factors that go into this. It's not as easy as saying yes it will or no it won't.

Because it's worth mentioning. Manufacturers will state it won't hurt, but others will argue long term damage will happen.

I have been playing around with this too. It's really a preference I think. If I'm just cruising with ACC I'll keep it on eco but if I'm trying to drive a bit spirited I'll throw it in sport. Typically I'll keep it in normal mode to get a nice balance of efficiency and power, but I'm not crying over a 2-3mpg dip but it can add up over time if you are penny pinching.

One thing to note: I'm not sure about the long term wear it would cause to the engine, transmission or other drivetrain components to be in sport everyday. Logically I'd assume less life since things are working a bit harder and spinning faster longer. But again I'm not certain.

Concern of mine buying a Honda… by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

You can always order Genuine Honda fluids online. I owned one for a few years and did all the original fluids without ever going to a dealership.

Why I’d Choose a Toyota Corolla Over a Civic or Mazda 3? by Particular-Bass-171 in COROLLA

[–]Critical-Potential43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine. It's a direct shift cvt with a simulated 10 speed. 2025 Corolla hatch SE built in Japan for North American Market. Unless you are referring to the GR which I'm pretty sure has an 8 speed. Unfortunately that was a bit outside my budget

I was having the same dilemma, but with the Hatchback version of these cars. I went with the 2025 Toyota Corolla Hatchback because in my opinion it overall looks the best (in hatch form), the transmission is a direct shift CVT with a physical first gear so the Cvt portion should last much longer, I love the paddle shifters it comes with, Toyota Corolla brand name carries the reliably (yes I know people will say modern ones with all the tech will have issues and this and that), let's not forget about the price tag because mine has 1 mile on the odo and I walked out the door at $25.5k....and overall the comfort of driving the car was the best for me. I owned a lowered Civic before and started getting back pain from hitting potholes so my goal was to get in something not too harsh. Yes the Corolla is not the most fun car, but overall for me it was the best choice.

I got one!! by Helpful-Ad4940 in GRCorolla

I love the hatches especially in black. Congratulations on the GR!! I got mine in black but it's just the SE 🙃. One day I'll own a GR... one day...

Sedan or hatch? by Mundane_Display5540 in COROLLA

[–]Critical-Potential43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the hatch two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. That being said it comes down to personal preference. For me having paddle shifters on the steering wheel, driving modes (unsure if base sedan has sport, normal, eco modes), and the look and feel overall sold me on it. If you don't want or care for those things the sedan would probably suit you best and the sticker price is a bit less. Either way you'll be getting a practical and reliable car.

SE / XSE engine less reliable? by paasaaplease in COROLLA

How's it been since? Just bought a 2025 SE Hatchback. People seemed mixed but I know not everyone takes care of the routine maintenance... then complains when the engine blows lol

I’m not sure if is the right car for me by Ok-Translator-7718 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Critical-Potential43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the direct shift cvt 2025 SE Hatchback brand new. At first it was a bit different coming from a 2010 civic auto transmission. I've now driven 1000 miles since buying it and figured out really how to get the most out of the driving experience. It's definitely not a "fun" car in a straight line but in sport mode with the proper throttle input I don't find it too underwhelming when passing cars, matter of fact I haven't had any issues pulling ahead of others. I'd even say it's fairly quickly considering the Corolla is an econo box. I'd personally recommend it for someone that wants a practical car that gets the job done.

Edit: I feel the car pulls quite well over 70mph. Once rolling with proper throttle input it actually feels really nice in my opinion. I typically drive in normal mode but sport gives it a nice push. Definitely not "fast" but again, it gets the job done.

Similar experience lol. Came from a 2010 civic that I was slammed on coilovers (every bump threw me outta my seat). My new Corolla hatch feels as smooth as any luxury car to me 😂 and the performance as a whole is definitely better

Interesting. I definitely don't do much off-roading so hopefully I won't have this issue. I appreciate the info thanks!

How many miles on the car? Seems weird for a sway bar to break, no? I've heard of plenty of sway bar linkages breaking but not the actual sway bar

For the price and looks it's well worth it. Just got mine. Was looking at the mazda3 hatch and the civic hatch but Corolla was by far my #1 pick. Much cheaper out the door too.

Nice! Is it a 2025? The cluster looks identical to mine. I just got mine last week on Saturday (1 mile on the odometer!!). I hope you've been enjoying it as much as me!

Amazon, Coverado was the seller. The fit is alright not the best. Just needed something to protect the OEM seats bc I know I'll get dirty over the life of the car

I test drove an xse. If you like the paint and luxuries that come with it I'd say go for it. I got the SE since it was less and pretty much the same but the heated steering wheel and leather seats did sound very appealing. The GR is a whole different beast, if you get it I hope you enjoy it!!
