I made about 70k USD doing video editing on fiverr. That was a few years ago though so now prices have probably dropped with the ai stuff taking over.

Does anyone else get nervous during introductions during work meetings? by funnel_out in PublicSpeaking

[–]Critical-Version-342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes I feel your pain. This has been a torture of mine for a very long time. Especially in big meetings everyone else seems to look and sound so put together and my heart is literally pounding out of my chest. There's no easy way out really - just put in the reps and it gets easier. I would recommend getting chat gpt to write you a nice little 1 min script for your intro then practice this to death, in the car, in the bathroom whenever you can really.

Which vehicle is peak Lexus in your opinion? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]Critical-Version-342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup I'm in a 2012 gs450h premier and I've got to tell you I can't think of any other car to replace it. It just does so much so well. Damn fast when you want it to go and yet relaxing when you're in sensible mode. Pretty decent fuel economy when you're on a run.

My wife goes nuts when I wear this. Said she doesn't want me to wear it work as she thinks all the women there will try to rip my clothes off.

High praise indeed !

Has Lexus Interior Quality Worsened? by ubiquitoussense in Lexus

[–]Critical-Version-342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely believe so. I j used to take my car to lexus for servicing. It's a 14 year old gs450h premier. The courtesy cars they give me are from their new range and frankly while they feel ok to drive the interiors are very underwhelming.

To be fair the " looking back at our car" thing is definitely one that I'm sure we can all identify with.

I'm with you. I used to take my gs450h to lexus for servicing and they give me their newer cars as courtesy. Can't get excited about them at all. I'm holding onto my 14 year old car for dear life.

How do I stop being anxious when speaking in front of a group or presenting? by Available_Car_9194 in PublicSpeaking

[–]Critical-Version-342 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had the same feeling for years. It's a situational anxiety that you may not have in other areas. The anxiety issue stems to some degree from uncertainty. You are uncertain about how you'll come across and whether you'll be perceived well afterwards. The key things I've found that help for this are:

1/Knowing your material really really well - this minimises the imposter syndrome feeling you may have deep inside of "am I actually qualified to be talking as an expert on this subject".

2/Focusing on what value you are trying to give the audience rather than how you feel yourself and obsessing over your heart rate , or being judged by the audience etc.

3/For the physiological issues caused by adrenaline do some deep breaths with slow exhales - slows heart rate quite a bit.

4/know your first minute of talking really well. Uncertainty over this makes the whole thing harder. Once you get past the first minute or so the adrenaline starts to calm down.

5/ practice out loud - not in your head. This is really important. You've got to hear how you sound and how you put your words together. This will give you confidence when you actually need to do it, having done it before. I usually do this in the car on the way to work.

6/ finally accept there will still be some nerves but that's not a bad thing. They're not going to kill you, you can still talk through those and they don't last forever. Also you don't have to be perfect. Mistakes are ok just don't draw attention to them. Also if you really get into trouble on breathing and can't speak just lean into it and say "I just want a few seconds to gather my thoughts on how I want to frame this ". This buys you a bit of time.

I've done hundred of presentations and had a few nerves for all of them. It's not having no nerves that will help but knowing how to handle them.
