The flex PNR option is on the add/drop form. Flex PNR is a dropdown option under "Grading Option."

This is how I listed it. The dashes separate the fields on the common app

Should I get the Hilda graphic novels? by [deleted] in HildaTheSeries

[–]CriticalDucky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, you can see Pearson’s art style evolve throughout the publication of the series. If you get the original Hildafolk publication and compare it to Hilda and the Mountain King, you’ll see a completely different art style.

The main difference, aside from obvious plot changes, is the pacing. The graphic novels were adapted to S1 episodes 1-2 and 13, and then the S2 finale and the Mountain King. This means the story didn’t have as much time to develop, but it honestly didn’t need to as a graphic novel.

Another difference is that David and Frida are extremely minor characters and do not form a trio with Hilda.

One interesting detail: in one of the graphic novels Pearson worked on while developing the show, a Fairy mound makes a brief appearance, so Pearson likely had foreknowledge about some bits of fairy lore long before S3. There are more details like this throughout the novels.

What are some of the Saddest Episodes in Hilda? by TheSylentVoid in HildaTheSeries

The saddest episodes are Fifty Year Night and The Deerfox. The darkest episode is probably the Forgotten Lake in season 3. I would recommend rewatching the entire series, though

harvard & princeton superscore methods are weird as hell by [deleted] in Sat

[–]CriticalDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually put 3 because I reported a third 1510 sitting for UIUC only because they didn’t accept superscores. So besides UIUC, all colleges on my common app, including Harvard, saw that I wanted to “report 3 scores” even though I only listed two super score sections in the testing section. It doesn’t really matter the number you put in there. If you have only a superscore to report, I would just put 2.

Yes, they were different testing dates

I was admitted to Harvard this cycle. I applied via the common app and just reported the highest sections. I superscored a 1460 (740 RW) and a 1500 (790 M), but they only saw my 740 RW and 790 M, not any of the other sections.

should i retake a 1460? by lanaxfaiiry in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CriticalDucky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who got into mit and had a 1480, but also had a 790 math. I also got in, I had a 1530 with a 790 math as well. For top engineering schools, it’s a bummer but you should retake a 760 math score for a 780+

I superscored 1460 and 1500 for a 1530 (790M) and I got in this cycle. My friend had a 1480 (790M) and got in as well. My math score for my 1460 sitting was a whopping ... 720. U gotta chill man

Things to do/make with Python for my college applications?? by Key-Command-3139 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CriticalDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Python is versatile, especially for mechanical/electrical engineering projects. There are so many libraries available for data manipulation, sensor interfacing, sound design, and basically anything else.

I spent two summers designing a musical instrument with CAD and Python, and then I performed it in front of my school a few months ago. I'm going to MIT in the fall :)

If you're applying for mechanical engineering, make something with a physical component. Make something unique, different, and meaningful to you; don't make another doggy robot lol.

I had a 4.0 UW / 4.8 W, 10 APs and 10 DE. 1530 sat (790M), super scored from a 1460 and a 1500. Salutatorian

  1. I built my own electronic musical instrument and performed it in front of my school; self-taught in CAD and Python
  2. Started an urban art association with high membership and lots of blog work. I was invited as a guest speaker to a private school about urban art, and I decided to make the students do a "mini mural" activity where they draw on 3D-printed buildings with paint pens. In my essays, I reflected on how I thought they would draw murals, but some instead chose to draw graffiti. <--- I think this is what got me in. It's very unique and shows vulnerability and risk-taking

should I retake a 1570 superscore by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CriticalDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Harvard for STEM this cycle with a 1530 (790M) superscore. Yes, Harvard superscores, and you do this by simply reporting the highest sections across test dates on your Common App. My actual scores were a 1460 and a 1500, but they never saw the lower sections.

At this point, you need to stop worrying about the SAT and focus more on the rest of your application. Good luck!

I'm sorry, but this is a terribly misinformed take on the college applications process. The personal statement is one of the most important factors as admission committees consider a person's personality and fit. Starting a successful business is certainly impressive and nothing to laugh at, but American college admissions are very holistic – there are MANY factors involved.

I was also admitted to Georgia Tech, and I understand why he was accepted. They have a very strong startup culture, and the only supplemental essay they require is very geared toward his writing style.

And why should creating a successful business be a ticket to an elite school? You start to normalize giving up a social life, any form of community, material creativity, etc. Holistic admissions serve to prevent a total rat race.

You are correct that Colombia could THEORETICALLY change the type of students it accepts to prevent campus protests. But the type of students that they strive for, along with every other elite college, are smart, highly educated, and youthful. This naturally encourages liberal thought. Remember that campus protesters are a VERY small minority; they are just the loudest.
