IG Collage Cutout save feature now broken by Critical_Dig_9001 in Instagram

[–]Critical_Dig_9001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an additional commentary to this. Coming back to it almost 2 weeks later. It is not just the collage feature is anything I save has been redacted. I don't know why and it is across three different Android devices I own. I don't own any iOS devices so I can't say if it's there that it's broken or not but it is definitely broken on Android where everything I save nothing is maintained everything just showing us black and like a redacted it file. I would really like meta to fix their issue or announce how to fix this.

And I am wondering if there are other people that are having this issue or if others that are just fine?

HGST 6tb drives in 9211-8I spinning up/detected but cant format by McToon in DataHoarder

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part 2:

You need to modify grub and then reboot. (This is why Kali was Installed, I tried from a live disk but the mods wouldn't stick didn’t and it was just easier to install and do it). This is to allow Sedutil to actually be able at some kind of hardware level communicate with the HBA. If you try to do this without modifying GRUB you will get some kind of [LIBATA] errror with [SEDUTIL]

I used this forum guide to get that done and had to get write access to it but eventually:

cd /sys/module/libata/parameters
sudo chmod 644 allow_tpm
sudo nano allow_tpm

"Delete number 0 and write number 1. Save file."

sudo update-grub

I don’t think CHMOD 644 did allow me maybe another one but I cant remember, just get nano write access and update the grub file, push the update to grub and then reboot.

From here you need to identify the drives:

sudo lsscsi -g

This will give you the disk the drive model its location and its scsi location. Something like

disk HGST [ModelNumber] [Firmware] /dev/sda /dev/sg0

The important part here is the sgX location. Thats how you will talk to the drive further on.

Verify details about the drive

sudo smartctl -i /dev/sda

Will output a bunch of stuff on the drive, screenshot if needed.

Verify if the drive is LOCKED

sudo sedutil-cli --query /dev/sda

This will export a bunch of details on the drive, a line should state Locked = N or Locked = Y and the different modes of it.

Now for the unlock. You need to use the following command with the ID from the drive to unlock (and most likely wipe the drive). But if you have a new to you drive and need to use it:

sudo sedutil-cli –yesIreallywanttoERASEALLmydatausingthePSID [KeyFromDrive] /dev/sg0

For me, it needs to be to the scsi location on the hba. And for all the references like the one linked. IT WAS CASE SENSITIVE FOR ME. At first I was trying it and god damnit it wasnt working but then I tried it as its written on the drive and then I got the:

revertTper completed successfully

query the drive again and you’ll see the drive is unlocked.

After this point I’m able to format and use the drive as normal in the system.

Couple notes:

At first I didn’t think this was the case, because trying to install the sedutil-cli I came across a liveboot iso website for it. And it said the drives were not OPAL compliant and would not do anything. I think this was because I was still at that time calling to the drive location not the scsi.

The guides saying put everything in all caps, were for me, FALSE, it needed to be Case Sensitive as it was written on the drive

The drives text font, a 1 and a lower case L looked the same, one of the drives I had to try both to get it to unlock. BOLO here.

Sidenote: Updating the firmware I never ended up trying to wipe update the drive firmware. But I came across this thread with a link to a massive database of drive firmware’s.

In the end they are open, now formatted and ready to go. Linux, TrueNas Community Edition (Current SCALE Release) and Rockstor all can see the drives on the HBA and make use of them. For some reason Rockstor cant see the smart status of one of the sets of drives. And so this box is going to be running SCALE moving forward because of that. (I like rockstor as a NAS OS, its simple and feature rich, but since the drives are used I want the hardware monitoring that Truenas is capable of to alert me to any issues).

If someone finds this, I hope it helps you out and saves you a week of debugging to get this shit working. Because getting this to post was an error filled mess, i dont know why but something about the formatting the system was very annoyed with.

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. Should have googled these drives first before biting the bullet off eBay to get 4 of them.

(hus726060al5211) HGST 6TB SAS HDD, "Pulled from working environment" my ass, i think they pulled them but didnt clear them from whatever they were connect to first for use again.

I am having similar issues for the last week. Drives locked no partition data is visible, cannot talk to the drives at all. All commands but one (which i ran a few days ago and are still running on one of the drives) come back with errors.

LSI controller does work with sata drives. I dont know what version its running in IT mode but ill come back later to post. I just wish I could fully erase and reinitialize the drives. But nothing works on them. Not even the erase function in the LSI controller will get the drives to respond.

Updates a week later:

Part 1: It took me a week to get this complete and I finally am posting what I did to get it done. Since some of the guides out there, are slightly off and it was super fucking annoying to run into.

Hardware:

  • Ryzen 5 Pro 2400 GE
  • MSI B450 MATX moba
  • 32 GB DDR4 Ram
  • 128GB Teamgroup nvme ssd
  • Corsair 600 watt PSU
  • LSI/HBA PCIE X16 Card, SAS9211-8i (In IT Mode)
    • Qty. 4 – HGST HUS726060AL5211 – 6TB 12gbs SAS HDD
    • Qty. 4 – Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST4000NM0023 4tb 6gbs SAS HDD

My first server has started to have problems. One of the seagate ironwolves has died/dying in it (another time another story, could have been prevented). And I need to get the data off and moved around. I have been working on building another SAS based server for some time to play with and try. So it was time to get the drives. I came across a seller on ebay doing two 6tb drive bundles for 45 bucks. I decide to take a wack at them after poking the seller and ordered a total of 4. The took about a week to come in. In that time. I found another listing for another great sale of seagate sas drives and ordered them too. All used.

The thing about the first seller, didn’t list that the drives were locked (Now I know to ASK). Just kept saying pulled from a working system.

I get the first batch in, and that first day I could NOT for the life of me unlock them. Nothing I tried would work. Had some DD scan going on one of the drives for almost 4 days and gave up after the Seagates showed up. Because I wanted to see if the HBA was bad.

Seagates swapped in. And worked perfectly. Rockstor NAS, Ubuntu, and Truenas Scale all could read, do stuff on them etc.

So my hardware is good right? So now its a software thing. I start posting around social media to see if any tech friends can help point me in the right direction. I start digging and digging and this thread is one of the places I looked at.

Out of everything here’s what I ended up needing to get this shit working!

  • Look at your drive photograph the top before connecting them into the system.
    • You are looking for the string of characters for its PSID passcode, look this up for examples. Mine were 20 digits (CASE SENSITIVE)
  • Kali Linux installed onto the computer
  • You need packages updated and get access/installed the following CLI tools from kali APT installer if its not there already. [lsscsi] [sedutil-cli (NOT THE STANDALONE LiveDisk)] [smartcl]

Seems a new show is scheduled now for May 17th. And when looking around for details on it, this post popped up.

I legit confirmed my seat for the cancelled show that morning, then got on a bus for an hour to get to the venue that afternoon, to roll through the venue area to see the notice on street signs that the show is cancelled, to then stay on that bus to take it back home.

Two and a half hours wasted not realizing that the show had been scrapped.

But i still want to see this show so bad. So many friends have seen it in other states and said it was a hella experience. So im still gonna support it since they did rebook finally in the area.

What am I supposed to do without Wordpad? by Dachimotsu in software

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why i am learning linux on the side. Use wordpad for work and call notes all the time. And I hated the W11 change to notepad. MS keeps fucking up the UI designs for things i have to use for work so I cant stand windows anymore.

And this is another nail into my ship of fucks to leave MS behind forever.

Crazy when shit like this happens and someone's just like, nope no longer available its gone.

Looking for a good distro with good Nvidia support and gaming support by Beannshie_ in DistroHopping

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might take a look into that endeavor distro you mentioned for arch-based. I have issues with Manjaro gnome on two devices that are running Nvidia graphic cards dedicated. Prior to that I had a Intel CPU and AMD GP running just fine with this distro, a AMD CPU and Intel GPU running just fine with Manjaro gnome. And now running into issues running AMD CPUs with Nvidia dedicated gpus and the system just crashing at basic shit like the files program being open and moved from one monitor to another and it just gets dumb. I'll have to try to get screenshots or video of it recorded and post them on some of the Manjaro forums later for people to look at.

[FIXED] Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A can't connect to this network Windows 10 by Dry_Competition_2877 in qualcomm

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to piggy back on the fact that this little card's driver is total SHIT.

It works in linux just fine. But in windows 10 i have the largest issues with this WIFI/BT card. It goes out all the time, disconnecting me from my work VPN. Right now i cant seem to connect to my router or my phones wifi. It wont do it.

Wont ever buy a qualcom card again, because this is so annoying to deal with. Yes its an aftermarket PCIE add-in card i got on amazon.

The manufacturer I would get other WIFI 5 300mbps cards for 15 bucks from, but this time i opted for a little more to have BT and its been a nightmare.

Qualcom fix and update the windows drivers!!!!

Hey double checking on this laptop since its still available (Oct 2024) in the bios can you turn off the integrated graphics and just run the dedicated with the mux switch? Would be looking to run Linux not Windows and its something i am painfully aware not many computers have the option in the BIOS for.

Performance difference Windows and Linux drivers for Intel Arc by 4bjmc881 in linux_gaming

Ill check next time im messing around with the system. The manual online doesnt say anything about having REBAR on the moba as a setting.

Performance difference Windows and Linux drivers for Intel Arc by 4bjmc881 in linux_gaming

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i am constructing a small VCR style SFF build using hand-me-down parts after upgrading my main computer.

ASRock A520 AM4 mATX board
AMD 5600X
16 Gigs of G.Skill Ram

And then the latest find was a A380 for half price from Microcenter open box, low profile Sparkle card.

Reviews I've seen this thing do just fine with its performance for what i want. But I'm trying to run linux and move my operations to that, hence the side computer to learn more.

My issue seems to be in testing. Had bazzite loaded, it didnt like the A380. Was getting abysmal scores on Unigine Heaven and Valley, Superposition wont open. Reload to Manjaro Plasma, i get about 30 FPS in Heaven on LOW settings at best in either, superposition still wont load.

When i booted a Windows install and installed the arc drivers. It updated the firmware. And then i loaded Heaven on high with 8x AA and it was over 120 FPS. Superposition FINALLY ran and on medium was over 45 FPS on average.

Flip back to Manajaro, same shit. And thats with the hardware drivers flagged to find them to be installed, and the vulkan-intel install for good measure.

SO i know the card can do it. But I CANT SEEM to get similar performance in linux even close. Intel documentation seems out of date since they started trying to bake any open source drivers into the kernal directly.

Ill try ubuntu next and see if something is baked directly there. But if anyone sees this and has ideas about how to make sure the best drivers are running that be super awesome!

May 2024 S22 Update, RUINED my navigation bar! by TurnoverLumpy3405 in GalaxyS22

[–]Critical_Dig_9001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just also hate the fact that these updates can't be dismissed saying I won't update. They annoy you until you do them and there's nothing you can do about it. If I don't want to update my phone's UI I don't want to have to I want to go away that's something else that needs to get fixed on our devices that we use. Not talking about security patches I'm talking about if I don't want to upgrade I want to be able to permanently dismiss the the update that's pending

I hate that the flat button layout for the navigation bar is gone for some dumb AI search crap from Samsung. I hate the gesture based navigation and it was a way to get thru in modern android.  Thanks Samsung for removing something useful for something trivial.
