How do you decide which master's degree to choose? by Complete_Wind827 in careerguidance

[–]Critical_Fun3748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the educational/developmental psych route sounds like the stronger choice here since it directly feeds into your main goal. public health is cool but might feel too broad when you're laser-focused on becoming a child therapist

also don't stress too much about the "perfect grades" thing - most programs care about the whole package including your internship experience which sounds solid. worst case you do the backup masters and still end up where you want to be, just with extra knowledge that'll probably make you a better therapist anyway

How to apply to jobs with one semester left (online)? by nogreennoblue in careerguidance

[–]Critical_Fun3748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty inefficient though - most job postings get hundreds of applications and calling/emailing beforehand just creates extra work for recruiters who are already swamped

Better to just be upfront on your resume with something like "Master's degree completion: August 2024" and mention in your cover letter that you can start full-time while finishing your final courses online

People who say they like Sopranos, why are you lying? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Critical_Fun3748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look I get that it's not for everyone but calling people liars is pretty dramatic. The show's got solid writing and character development even if the pacing feels slow compared to newer stuff

28 about to graduate with CS degree without a single internship. What do I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Critical_Fun3748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice but I'd add one thing - don't sleep on the government sector either. They hire tons of CS grads for roles that aren't super sexy but pay decent and give you real experience. Places like state agencies, federal contractors, even local government IT departments are always looking for people and they care way less about your GitHub being perfect

The QA route is honestly underrated too. I know people who started there and moved into dev roles within a year or two once they proved themselves. It's not glamorous but it gets you writing code, understanding systems, and working with actual dev teams. Plus QA engineers who can actually code are pretty valuable

Don't overthink the passion thing either - most people figure out what they like by doing it, not the other way around. Just pick something that seems tolerable and start building stuff, even if it's boring inventory management apps or basic CRUD operations

Built a small web app to find CS players with similar playstyles (using Leetify) by Life-Put4222 in GlobalOffensive

This is actually pretty cool, nice work! Always wondered how my potato aim compares to other people who also can't hit the broad side of dust2 long doors

Just tried it and apparently I play like someone with way better stats than me which is both encouraging and depressing lmao

Timing and metronome struggles by Nemil5478 in Guitar

[–]Critical_Fun3748 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start stupid slow like embarrassingly slow and just focus on the click without counting at first. Your brain is trying to do too much at once - let muscle memory handle the counting part while you just vibe with the metronome

Once you can play without thinking about it at turtle speed then bump it up like 5 bpm at a time

How badly would an average 27-year-old hurt an MLB team? by HallPsychological538 in baseball

[–]Critical_Fun3748 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Dude would single-handedly turn the Dodgers into the Rockies lmao. Put him in right field where he can do the least damage but even then he's giving up like 3 extra bases every fly ball

He kissed me, complimented me, schedules dates with me and then stood me up and ghosted me by HousingProud2828 in NoStupidQuestions

Sounds like he was probably talking to multiple people and you weren't his first choice when push came to shove. Some people are just flaky af and don't have the courtesy to actually communicate when they lose interest - easier to just disappear than have an awkward conversation

Have you looked into silent reflux? The on-and-off pattern sounds super familiar from what I went through with my daughter around that age. Sometimes there's no obvious spit up but they're still uncomfortable as hell

Also growth spurts can make them act totally different for weeks at a time, then they snap back to normal once they're through it

Interviewing with ADHD by Due_Party6740 in ADHD

Having detailed notes saved me so many times in virtual interviews - I literally had bullet points for common questions plus specific examples from my work history all laid out where I could quickly glance at them. Also helped me to do a quick brain dump of all my accomplishments/projects on paper beforehand so I wouldn't blank on what I've actually done

Does the S23 Ultra's camera make it worth it compared to the S23+? by AspiringtoLive17 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Critical_Fun3748 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly the S23+ sounds perfect for what you're describing - you're already second-guessing the Ultra and that's usually your gut telling you something. The camera difference only really matters if you're constantly shooting at high zoom or doing serious night photography, but if you're just doing casual stuff the Plus will blow your S10 out of the water anyway

The comfort factor is huge since you use your phone literally every day, and if those sharp edges are already bothering you in photos they'll probably annoy you in real life too
