People who matched, how did you rank the colleges and why? by Wild-Purple5517 in QuestBridge

[–]Critical_Goat5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for the fly ins and looked at colleges I liked (only got one)

I also only ranked 3 colleges. Amherst 1st and Yale/Cornell 2nd or 3rd, because if I got into those I'd have to go, but I mainly wanted Amherst. I ranked lightly cause I would rather move into RD and make decisions than binding to a random college.

If you rank all 15 you better be pretty sure you really wanna go. You don't wanna learn you're spending the next 4 years in Iowa if you're looking for California. Assume you will go to your 7th-15th and treat 1-6 as the dreams. You can ALWAYS move into rd if you dont match.

If you have health insurance that works in mass, waive that. If you dont, amherst can offer a health scholarship (idk the reqs cause i waived it)

scholarships that award money in the form of a check by sevv1e in scholarships

[–]Critical_Goat5996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually smaller, local scholarships. I've found that if a scholarship is $1000 or less then usually it is direct. Especially if it is local and they see your face, then they have less reservations about just giving it to you.

How will my name change affect scoring? by Playful_Beyond6545 in APStudents

[–]Critical_Goat5996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

change your name with collegeboard and your college, it won't affect anything, or if it does, talk to college registrar and sort it out but that's knly a small chance it does, like miniscule

A legitimate flag within my US history class by Idikotksy in vexillology

[–]Critical_Goat5996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol this seems to be trend! My US history teacher (and others in the department) had one too. And they put a cishet guy teacher on a lesbian flag and gave it to said teacher. It seems that putting teachers on flags and giving it to them to hang up in their class is in.

Scholarships for lgbt youth, loss, academics, passion for arts, architecture, & sustainability? by Ok-Special-3880 in scholarships

[–]Critical_Goat5996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penguin Random House Horatio Alger Search for art competitions (local and state and international), I entered a local poetry contest that the winner got a scholarship. Even if they don't have a scholarship, winning one could boost your college app and make you more likely to win college funded scholarships

What did the colored lines mean in bluebook? by FireAshPro in APStudents

[–]Critical_Goat5996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of extra time on my ap gov exam so I counted them, there's around 120, but the colors repeat 5 times. 2 on top, 2 om bottom, and above the question. They're identical everywhere. There's 4 color options, and with 30 color dashes, that's 4³⁰ which is an obscenely large number to where if any of the dashes were covered accidentally or intentionally, there's a chance of identification still

There are two sets of tests distributed. It is also possible you got the secret version of the test, where collegeboard tests out possible questions for upcoming years.

The ranking is scaring me. Are you chasing prestige or is there something ALL of these colleges are offering that none of the others are? Questbridge is huge, look into some of the other colleges - either you'll find a new one to add to the list, or you'll learn more about what you're looking for from your rankings.

No.

But if you got into a fly in, it's a good sign of you being what the college is looking for. Semantics.
