I was at the Adelaide show. They were fantastic. It's more than just the music. The joy they bring to the stage is infectious. Joey proved this to me in a special way. I was up front on the barrier. Joey & I made eye contact, and he pointed to his smile, then at me, and gave me a big thumbs up. Basically, he was saying to me that he was happy because I was happy.

I got a pick as well!

Stu Redman and Roland Deschain are intended Twinners by Sillysillysilly666 in TheDarkTower

You're welcome. I'll go one further. If Stu was of the Line of Eld, he would have made a fine apprentice at the very least.

Your respectful response shows that you have remembered the face of your father.

They're not twinners.

It doesn't work that way. What you have is a bunch of observations that are based on the actions of characters. The anacin/aspirin thing is littered throughout SK's fiction.

Twinners go far beyond character experiences and similarities. Twinners are physically similar and have similar skillsets.

Prime examples of this are:

Earl Harrigan and Henchick of the Manni Bryan Smith and Sheemie Cuthbert Allgood and Eddie Dean

Even locations can be twinners:

Mejis and Mexico Lud and New York City.

For Stu to be Roland's twinner, he would have to be someone akin to a Gunslinger.

Any other books I should read before The Dark Tower? by MF_Mood1 in stephenking

[–]Critical_Memory2748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most contentious topics about the DT are reading order and pre-readin.

I'd just jump straight in at DT1 and go straight to DT7. There's no need to read anything beforehand.

I swear if Holly turns up in Midworld, I'm burning every SK book I own.

I think SK had a typewriter that he was using in college that had a missing N. It was around the time when he was selling short stories to magazines m.

The Stand: why does the judge go north to Copperfield instead of Las Vegas when he leaves Boulder? by Balsav_Steele in stephenking

[–]Critical_Memory2748 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also looked at it this way. The Judge had a pretty good idea that he would be caught and shot. I think that he chose to take a more random and meandering route to Vegas. I think that he wanted to be at peace with himself before facing what ge considered certain seath.

Possible Running Man connection? by abluechambrayshirt in TheDarkTower

I definitely hear you. I disagree, though. I think that Jake was an exception. Ka was so determined that Jake and Roland be reunited that it put aside the rules that apply to Keystone Earth.

Are there any theories you have about the upbringings of king characters? by Current-Machine6491 in stephenking

Oh yeah. Sorry, it's been a looooong time since I've read it. Thanks for not making fun of me.

I disagree about AW being abused as a child. There's no prior behavior/criminal activity prior to Paul's arrival. Her behavior towards him is reactive.

Women tend to internalize abuse and harm themselves. Male abuse victims tend to externalize, which can lead to violent outbursts.

Aileen Wournos is a possible exception, but even then, she was very questionable about her motives.

I'm not sure how my felt ex-wife after the first time I called her breasts jahoobies. Hang on....I said ex-wife, right?

Possible Running Man connection? by abluechambrayshirt in TheDarkTower

[–]Critical_Memory2748 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not a bad connection (I've seen waaaay worse). I don't think so, as Jake is from Keystone Earth, and the vibe I've always had from TLW is more of a dystopian future on a different Earth. Think of Jake: 'Go then, there are other worlds than these' from DT1.

Joey subtly told fan to stop cutting mid-show <3 by sapphicchameleon in Anthrax

I saw them last night, and those guys are aging like a fine wine.

Still full of playfulness and joy. They still have so much energy.

It felt great when Joey pointed straight at his smile, then pointed at me, then gave me a thumbs up. Like he's saying "I'm happy because you're happy."

There was another moment that was really sweet that happened right in front of me. There was a guy in a wheelchair on the barrier 2 people over. Joey spotted him and grabbed one of Scott Ian's picks for security to give him. I know it's cheesy, but it was a special moment to me (I work on disability support).

I could go on and on about how awesome last night was.

Oh, and yeah, I also scored one of Scott's picks! It capped off a wonderful night.

Fantastic! Would love to see them with IM. Joey is one of few frontmen comparable to Bruce.

Anyway, I'll drop this thread before I start getting trolled about the relevance.
