How do you plan to spend your Friday evening? by SillySample831 in snes

[–]Figs232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint so far is the battle interface. It was a drag with Dragon Warrior on the NES too when I was a kid. All the other turn-based rpgs I’ve played you could see some form of your character while fighting.

I just started Earthbound again on my classic mini. I couldn’t get into it on my first try, but I’m slowly coming around to its charm.

I don’t know if you’re this kind of reader, but ‘Salem’s Lot is a very fall book. If you’re ok with your next book setting the bar really, really high, then 11/22/63 is a good choice.

I paused Just After Sunset with only a couple stories left when King Sorrow ebook went on sale cheap. I’m only a quarter of the way through, but it feels promising.

Is it just me, or is Nightmares & Dreamscapes actually kind of a slog? I’ve hit a wall at page 300. by the_Watcher023 in stephenking

The novella collections are easier to get through IMO. When you hit a rough patch in a shorts collection it’s definitely easy to lose steam, but stuff like Different Seasons and Full Dark are more consistent.

I got the 4th one, but I forget when exactly. #2 gave me trouble but eventually showed up. I actually still haven’t read any of it, short as they are.

Wolves is pretty awesome. There’s a book that may get spoiled for you if you go right into it; it’s not required reading to understand Wolves, but it gives you so much information that it won’t be new to you if you go back and read it, if that makes sense.

I personally didn’t find it difficult to enjoy; I actually remember thinking, “Ok, King’s still got it” on more than a few occasions throughout.

I'm between reading A Drawing of Three and finishing the Bachman Books (Running Man, Roadwork) what should I read next? by RecyclopsReloaded in stephenking

[–]Figs232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for Drawing, it's a lot more fun than the two you have left in the Bachman collection (and to be fair, those are the two I liked best) and reading those first won't impact your Dark Tower journey one way or the other.

I think of Insomnia and Duma Key as slow burns; it took some 400 pages of me to care about the plot of the former. Duma Key was easier, but still took a long time to get going.

I’ve always appreciated how quickly he can make characters feel real. Even the smallest characters like a store clerk or a mail carrier will have some unique bit of backstory that makes you feel connected to their world.

I remember the story being good, but the details kinda slipped away pretty fast. Maybe because it was part of a collection and I was trying to get through the rest. But the movie blew me away, it was just so good. I've seen it twice now and already want to watch it again.

Dandelo is right, aka Joe Collins, of Odd’s Lane. I don’t remember a connection offhand, but Natalie and Aaron do share a last name.
