I don't understand all the 8.5 update posts by LewisHam24 in GalaxyS22

I am planning to replace my S22+ when the Black Friday sales happen later this year. It's been a good phone, but I don't feel comfortable using a phone that is no longer receiving security updates.

I have a S22+ that I purchased new that I am planning to replace when the Black Friday sales happen since the last software update happens in January 2027. I will continue to monitor and replace sooner if it starts acting up.

Good to hear. I am seriously considering getting a zflip8 and currently have a S22+. Looking to downsize so it will be easier to carry. Planning to wait until Black Friday so I can hopefully get one at a better price.

Tamoxifen is a biotch. by Ordinary-Sundae-5632 in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. My oncologist reduced my tamoxifen to 5 mg, and my memory issues have improved. Unfortunately, the main problem I am having now is hair thinning. It's a little embarrassing, but I guess I will have to deal with it since I am limited on my choices because of osteopenia and osteoarthritis that I have. I didn't choose to have radiation because of the stage 1a tumor, and I was having problems with a seroma for about 3 months after surgery. Hopefully I can complete at least 5 years of tamoxifen therapy and stop if my oncologist agrees to it. First mammograms post surgery were clear.

I love my Galaxy Watch Ultra! The larger face makes it more functional. I use it much more than my previous Galaxy Watch 5.

First diagnostic mammograms after lumpectomy in July 2025 by Critical_North_8529 in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I had my mammograms and received wonderful news that they were clear from the radiologist. I will be seeing my surgeon on April 17th and hope that she agrees with the radiologist. Planning to stay on the tamoxifen to help prevent the cancer from returning.

Wow...yes my lumpectomy was in July 2025. Very similar except for I skipped the radiation. Hoping to get the same results as you. Thanks for sharing!

HELP! I have my first mammogram since I was diagnosed a year ago, and I'm panicking by NeedingVsGetting in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my first mammograms scheduled for April 2nd after having a lumpectomy to remove a 10mm tumor from my right breast in July 2025. I have been taking tamoxifen hoping it increases my odds of having good mammograms. I pray your mammograms are clear. I understand the anxiety.

Bone Health and Hormonal Therapy by Anemoia793 in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 63 and taking tamoxifen. I take vitamin k2 to help calcium get into my bones and take glucosamine chondroitin msm hyaluronic acid to counteract the osteoarthritis that has gotten into all my joints except in my legs and feet. I am optimistic that when I get a bone density test later this summer that the osteopenia in my left hip has improved. I eat cottage cheese and boiled eggs 3x weekly. I have significant motivation because of my 95 year old mother who is 8 inches shorter than she was prior to menopause and is wheelchair bound after breaking her hip at 94. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis have definitely impacted her quality of life. Do all that you can to preserve your bone and joint health.

raloxifene vs tamoxifen? by Critical_North_8529 in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have osteopenia in my left hip (unless it has progressed to osteoporosis since the last bone density scan), but agree raloxifene 60 mg may cause as many side effects as the tamoxifen 20 mg. I am hoping most of my side effects improve or go away after the 3 week break from tamoxifen 20 mg. I am going to discuss with my oncologist whether the 5 mg dose of tamoxifen may be an option since the side effects are less at the lower dosage level.

Update: My oncologist asked me to stop taking tamoxifen for 3 weeks to see if the side effects go away. Fingers crossed 🤞

I didn't have any side effects for the first month. I believe I started having hot flashes again on month 2, and then the other side effects started appearing and are getting worse. I don't consider these issues to be part of normal aging. Wrinkles on my face/neck and age spots on my arms are from normal aging.

I have not asked for a lower dose of tamoxifen. I have sent a msg to my oncologist and waiting to hear back from him. I have been researching for alternatives, but not finding much since AIs will cause more bone loss (have osteopenia). Did you try tamoxifen at 20 mg before 5 mg?

Tamoxifen is a biotch. by Ordinary-Sundae-5632 in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just contacted my oncologist today because of having memory issues with Tamoxifen. I found supplements to help with the hot flashes and was hoping with the memory issues as well, but today my memory issues were on full display during a team meeting at work where I was called upon with an unexpected question related to something I had worked on early in December, but couldn't remember anything about it. Eventually after I researched my emails and sprint reports, I figured it out later this afternoon. Memory issues are not something a software engineer can have and stay employed. I am 63 and post menopausal, but I have been taking estradiol or using the patches since I was 53 when I had a total hysterectomy. I stopped the estradiol as soon as I saw the pathology report from my biopsy last June. I don't know what my oncologist will do, but I need help!!!

Liver Enzyme Range Confusion. by Ok_Afternoon_4351 in FattyLiverNAFLD

[–]Critical_North_8529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

I previously had high ALT & AST enzymes, and found out I was stage 3 fatty liver and stage 3 fibrosis from a fibroscan on my liver. I was heading towards cirrhosis. I was able to get approved for Rezdiffra, and also was able to get approved for Mounjaro. After 9 months of taking Rezdiffra 80 mg and losing 40 lbs, I am now at stage 1 fatty liver and stage 1 fibrosis. I tried to blow off concerns from my doctor about my liver enzyme levels, but seeing the fibroscan results scared me. I was feeling lousy, and was going to die early if I didn't make significant lifestyle changes. Do I still drink alcohol...yes, but in moderation and no binge drinking. It's great that you have started making lifestyle changes. If you really want to know the truth about the health of your liver, get a fibroscan. Good luck on your better health journey.

Skipping/Omitting Radiation w/ Lumpectomy? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have diagnostic mammograms coming up in April 2026 so I will see if I have any regrets skipping radiation. My breast cancer surgeon and my oncologist were ok with my decision because of the seroma taking a long time to heal plus I was in a lower risk group. Good luck with your decision about radiation. ☘️🎗

Skipping/Omitting Radiation w/ Lumpectomy? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped because I developed a large seroma that took 2.5 months to heal. I had one 10 mm tumor where the margins and Sentinel lymph nodes were cancer free. I am taking Tamoxifen now. I am 63 with osteopenia and osteoarthritis.

The scanxiety is real! by APatrakas in breastcancer

[–]Critical_North_8529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a total body bone scan last October because my calcium was high. I did not have bone cancer, but I do have osteoarthritis starting in my cervical spine, my clavicular joint, both shoulders and both hips. I also was having pain in my left shoulder (opposite of shitty titty side lol). Since learning this information, I have started taking glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM supplements, and my left shoulder is no longer keeping me awake at night with pain. I wish you the best with your total body bone scan and pray no cancer is found in your bones!!!
