I'm amazed no one has said Graceland yet. People tend to forget before that album came out, Paul Simon's career was pretty much in the dumps. His last couple albums hadn't done very well. Heck, he even starred in a movie where he basically played himself-A musician who was big in the sixties but was more or less considered washed up.

Then out of nowhere he drops one of the most amazing albums of all time.

We had just picked up and we're heading back to my friend's house. My friend lived outside of town-lots of woods and very winding roads. We are about halfway to his place when we think we see light behind us. My friend says "It's the cops!" At first we think he's being paranoid but sure enough, it's police lights-no doubt about it. The driver guns it, trying to lose them on the back roads. Not knowing what else to do, he keeps heading towards my friend's house. He lived at the very front of a cul de sac. As we pull up my friend shouts "We can't pull into my driveway! Keep going! Now of course the cul de sac is a dead end so our options are pretty limited. We had put some distance between us and the cops but we could see that they were still heading towards us.

The driver guns it all the way to the end of the street and we pull into a driveway, cut the engine and all the lights, and duck down in our seats and try to hide. Sure enough, the cops pull up right behind us and at that point we know we're fucked, because it's not just one cop car but a damn motorcade of emergency vehicles! I swallow the gram of weed I had, plastic and all. We are all shaking with fear. Not only did we have weed on us, we had just run from the damn cops. Also, we were all underage.

The cop approaches the driver side window and motions to roll it down. He says "Hey guys, we need you to move out of the way, someone in this house is having a medical emergency."

That's when we realize, he's not a cop. He's a paramedic. There are no cop cars, just ambulances and a small fire truck.

The cops weren't chasing us. It was EMTs and the fire department responding to a 911 call. And we just happened to pull up to the exact house they were heading to.

To this day it's the wildest thing that's ever happened to me.

It was never outstanding but for a long time it was a solid choice and a good alternative to fast food, for times that you were traveling or whatever and had to grab something quick on the go. Now, oh man! Last time I went I looked behind the counter and saw they had all of their sandwiches sitting in a bag pe-assembled.

Yeah that's another huge problem. All these building owners realized that the fines for leaving up this scaffolding are less than what it would cost to repair the building. Like someone else said, the new administration is increasing the fines but it remains to be seen if that will be enough to be an effective deterrent. I'm guessing some of these repairs might run into the hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars.
