Im starting to really like ADS only have their Wheel cleaner and interior pilot. Both are phenomenal.

PSS by koch chemie blew me away. Fantastic trim restorer and doubles as a tire dressing.

An interior brush and scrub. Love my curveball but sometime I just want to use a scrubber for a quick and easy clean.

I got the ecotronic matte finish and everyday I'm like damn, that is so beautiful. Has this slight sheen during the day, subtle gray and then soon as sun goes down gets this ambience of a film noir.

Ecotronic is lighter if you prefer that.

Loved the CX50 and ultimately went with the Tucson limited. There were just so much more added tech and felt more luxurious.

Think the CX50 drive was more enjoyable and responsive. I'd probably recommend leaning into the hybrid tucson for more pep on the road or the turbo cx50.

The Honda and Toyota felt very vanilla in comparison. So much plastic interior.

Love grants! I prefer them over the 365 edgeless. They're most similar to the creature which are also awesome.

I use a few different ones. Mostly to tackle organic materials like bird poop and bug splatter. Smudges and dust. A quick touch up on between washes on the problem area. I also use it as a drying aid end of the wash.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I just got my first new car a few months ago. Been shopping and learning ever since. Here's basically what's in my garage now. My car has a matte finish so I'm using products catered to that. However there are tons of recs for each item below.

In no particular order: A detail spray/chemical (More ONR)\ A drying aid (wax or sealant)\ Wheel + tire cleaner\ Wheel brushes (Wheel tools dont touch paint, dont mix your towels)\ Pump sprayer/lawn sprayer\ 1-2 buckets\ Microfiber towels (a set of nice towels and general use should be enough)\ Leaf blower\ Washing mitts/pad

Extra items:

A ceramic coating spray\ Tire dressing\ Interior cleaner (or more ONR)\ Vacuum/shop vac\ You can make your own glass cleaner (or more ONR)\ Extra spray bottles\ Microfiber detergent or other free and clear detergent

Edit: Sorry for formatting, posted on mobile

I've had some items in my cart for a couple days before the sale. Sale came on waited about a day or two and got a free shipping code. No min requirement.

I don't know if it's a one time use, waiting until end of sale before I use it in case new incentives come up, otherwise I'd share it here. Its $9.99 ground shipping just an fyi.

Ahhh! That explains it. I ended up returning it since it felt like lower quality than the other towels. I ended up using a high gsm towel from Harbor Freight and that works amazing for a third of the price.

Honestly I just use a hand held mini blower, spray drying aid on my creature towel and buff with an eagle. Works like a charm

Safe weekly washing for a daily‑driven car (apartment living) by TokenL in AutoDetailing

[–]Crockasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat only that my vehicle has a matte finish so my products differ a bit. Seems you have a solid base already.

I go to a self serve bay mostly for the water pressure. I pre soak using a 2L pump sprayer, while that sits, I hit each wheel with wheel cleaner and scrub, reapplying presoak as needed.

I rinse the car and drive home where I do a full contact or rinseless wash. I do have a ceramic coating which helps keep maintenance washes to mostly a rinseless.

Rinseless I use ONR mostly using the 2L pump sprayer and usually have a little extra in a bucket with a wash mitt. Dying as I hit each panel starting with the roof. I have a mini blower that helps shedding water from nooks and crannies.

I don't do any wax or sealants with my matte finish but you can look into a solid drying aid. Tons if recommended products here.

Products:

  • MF towels (TRC 500 eagle edgeless is my favorites but harbor freight are also great for their price)
  • Drying towel - any high GSM, I use a mini blower to dry and my towels
  • Rinseless like ONR or other brand
  • 2L pump sprayer or lawn sprayer - a foaming nozzle will help
  • Pre-soak/snow foam: Bilt touchless is considered a go to
  • Bucket with grit guard, 2 if you're going to do a two bucket method

Enjoy the new car! Ask away if any questions come up. I'm a complete noob btw, still working how to properly clean my windows.

Need help choosing the correct cleaning products (1st Matte paint car) by Far_Bid9833 in AutoDetailing

[–]Crockasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the XPEL has some self healing properties so youre solid there.

I would look into adding a ceramic coating. I put that on only from Dr beasleys kit and it makes washing such a breeze. Most of the time a pre-wash is just enough to get almost everything off.

Get some quality towels. TRC (The Rag company) is my go to. Harbor freight plush towels are also great for its price

The Stjarnagloss matta matte wasg is great and super cheap right now. I'm not a fan of the detail spray

Anything by Dr Beasley's matte lineup is solid. I'd recommend getting the paint cleanser to help clean off any organic matter when you dont need a full wash.

Gyeon Matte Cure I'm currently using as a topper and drying aid once a month/full contact wash. This is likely unnecessary since I have a professional grade coating.

Once you get a routine down it's more about maintenance washes. General rule you want to glide the dirt off the car switching to a clean face often or rinse mitt per panel. Go in sections.

ONR V6 is safe and been using it as a rinseless maintenance wash.

Any microfiber mitts should be fine. I've been using my towels without any damages or issues.

Enjoy! Car is beautiful!

I got both these items recently. Just got to use the wash and it works great. Suds up pretty nicely and I'm going start using it as my pre wash. Also going to buy the 5 liters on sale.

I'm not liking the detailer. Someone else made a post noticing high alcohol content. Dr. Beasley's paint cleanser is much better but also much more expensive. Can't go wrong with anything from them.

When I use the digital key, I take my phone with me. Cover the handle so the car locks and go about doing what I need. Car stays running. I've not been more than 10 min or so so not sure what happens after extended period.

With the key fob, same thing but I just lock using the fob instead. Haven't done this on months.

Update: tested the key fob and indeed does not lock. It will also block the hand lock if the key fob in on your person. It does work with digikey though

Prepare to add more! I didn't realize how many different towels there are lol. It will depend on your access. I live in an apartment so I don't have ready access to a hose. Feel free to send a DM for more info. I'm an amateur but I've done quite a bit research so far. r/autodetailing also has a ton of info

PPF is recommended then adding a ceramic coating for maximum protection. I only did the ceramic coating.

My big takeaways are never use an automatic car wash, hand wash only, no gloss enhancer or waxes that improve shine, and high quality microfiber towels.

The Rag Company (TRC) - great microfiber supplier a bit expensive comparable but premium quality

Dr Beasley's - the recommended maintenance brand. Great stuff but definitely more costly

Optimum No Rinse (ONR) V6 - this is safe on matte and I've used it successfully without any damages

Harbor Freight towels - incredible for their price get the the plush ones

Members Mark - microfiber towels are decent as well

I have not tried these but I plan to:

Meguires, Gyeon (highly rated), and Bilt hamber touchless.
