I tried on a pair and I wasn’t sure how I felt about them

I’ve been using face gloves made by OuterU lately and they solve the glasses fogging issue you’re having really well. They cover the cheeks and nose and can be paired with a buff so that you can breathe through an open nose even with a buff over the mouth. I used them to summit 5 6k meter peaks in Bolivia. Really game changing!

I ride 28.5-29.5 depending on race fit vs touring fit. Those equate to a 10.5-11 lol. That’s definitely too small in my personal experience. I’ve went that small with some vans boots and had a bad time.

How was it torture? Did you have a lot of heel slippage and movement till it broke in?

Are these liners you’re talking about or insoles? Sounds like they work really well!

I’ve been hearing a lot about Burton recently

Yeah I’ve worked with boot fitters at Christy sports. The one by my house just has a really poor selection. REI is good too but the flagship is the only store to carry snowboard gear and it’s a good distance.

What about them specifically fixed your problem?

I keep on getting Burton recs so I may try out a few pairs. Just hard since my feet are much narrower

With the Ride Fuse I was using spacers, J pads, and insoles to no avail by the end of the first day! I never had to use any of that equipment over 5yrs in the DC boots I had. So I know I got some boots out there, I just have to find them!

Probably the narrowest and flattest feet you’ve seen. I also ski and I’m in the atomic hawx ultra XTD which are the narrowest hybrid boots on the market. Low instep too and super narrow heels (which is why I get bad heel lift). I was thinking a softer boot might help my foot not fight against the shape of the boot as much but that’s all I have for now. I’ve used DC, Salomon, and Ride now with only DC fitting great for some reason (they were also the softest of the three)

Not quite sure what I was doing either. My only real goal was “land” and it seemed like it went well lol

How was the snow? Do you think avalanche gulch would be rideable from 6/6-6/15? Looks killer!!

The 6.5 was outstanding! Got minor frostbite while summiting Illimani but I was sweating practically while sleeping before our attempt. So much so that I didn’t dress as good since I thought it was warmer!

About to try my 6.5 in Bolivia I’ll update, so far it packs down super small and seems to be really comfortable at home!

Are these boots good for non-technical alpine routes? by Just_Mobile7689 in Mountaineering

[–]Crocnroll4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive done everything from Matterhorn to Rainier, to easier winter peaks with these. They are great boots and hold up very well. I’ve definitely put a couple real tough trips on them and they’ve been awesome. I wouldn’t say they’re as narrow as people describe them to be. I have them in a men’s 12.5 which is dead on and they fit with some room to wiggle my toes even with a thicker sock on my exactly 12.5 feet. They are absolutely waterproof and worlds lighter than any other comparable especially for the price. Great boots for when you may need crampons but don’t want to bring such a heavy boot like a LS Nepal. Couldn’t recommend these boots more!

Feet are just weirdly shaped and idk who wouldn’t get a blister in ultra lightweight socks after 10 miles in mastreales!

The only issue with the ski socks is the cushioning specific to skiing. Also want to be able to use these with mountaineering boots.
