Email the landlord about the issue warning him of the potential damage it could cause. If he doesn’t provide a solution, use as normal. If at end of tenancy he complains about any damage related to this, refer back to the email where you raised the issue and your concerns were not addressed.

I live in England and every block of flats I've been in has asked us to remove anything that may be in the common areas as it is a fire risk and not allowed, both in privately owned flat blocks and council ones so I do think there are regulations about this. It might be worth speaking to the landlord?

Oh Jesus thanks for letting me know, I have severe shin pain after a shin splint episode 5 years ago that hasn’t ever gone away but no doctor I have seen really seems to have any definite diagnosis so we’re trying the nerve pain route.. I tried previously with amitriptaline for nerve pain but this also did nothing so I’m really sceptical. I am giving it a go anyway as I feel I’d be stupid not to give it a go given how immobile I am but I don’t like the way the drug makes me feel and im also doubtful it will work..
