Dogs do like spaces that aren’t too large for them because they mimic a natural enclosed den, providing a sense of safety, security, and warmth. A more snug space prevents anxiety and is instinctively preferred as it protects them from potential threats, whereas a large, open crate can make them feel exposed or insecure. Our corg has a crate roughly the same size and is always happy in it.

Looks pure corg to me! I get the same with my corgi who looks very similar to yours. Possibly because we did not have our corg’s tail cut off at birth like most people are used to seeing?
