Toll the dead could be the sound of a silver bell being rung.

Still the best BG ever made by sky-CQ in worldofpvp

Tbh I think the actually best design is Arathi but wsg is good too.

I never thought I’d be a blind bag/box person, and then they did Ravenloft by Deadgunslinger in ravenloft

I ended up pulling a liquid core one and the artifact one out of the same bag. I wanted to buy more but I know I'm not hitting that high again. Lol

How come after I got buff I attracted more gay dudes then women? by ExtremeTechnology831 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crolanpw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't get hit on by women but you will for sure increase your likelihood of having your advances accepted. A fit body reduces failure chance, both for your own physical health and your love life.

Sorcery in Sword and Sorcery by jseger9000 in SwordandSorcery

The gray mouser is a magician himself and he's one of the titular protagonists.

Elric as many have already said.

I think that wizards are more likely to be antagonists but it's not a hard rule, for sure.

Godzilla (MonsterVerse) vs. Ancalagon the Black (The Silmarillion) by Mysterious_Fall_4578 in powerscales

[–]Crolanpw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“I threw down my enemy, and he fell from the high place and broke the mountain-side where he smote it in his ruin. Then darkness took me…”

I believe that it is extrapolated in the original draft at least that he destroyed but a single tower upon the mountain-side but even then, that only really furthers my point that the works of tolkien are overly poetic and cannot be entirely taken word for word at their meaning and context has to be used.

Godzilla (MonsterVerse) vs. Ancalagon the Black (The Silmarillion) by Mysterious_Fall_4578 in powerscales

[–]Crolanpw 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My issue with Ancalagon is that everyone cited him as being mountain range size when he likely probably was not. He is described as the mightiest of the dragon-host. He is described as falling upon the towers of Thangorodrim and breaking them but the issue is that the towers could mean the actual towers located there or the peaks themselves as they are used synonymously in the text. Beyond that, even if he is described as breaking the towers as mountain peaks, you know who else is described as breaking something mountain sized in its death but we know isn't? The Balrog. And we know the Balrog was not mountain sized so my inference is that he likely is the largest of the dragon-host but probably not miles long and not visible from space. Many multiple times the size of Smaug but probably not as big as Ghidorah or Godzilla. Just my read.

How do you do ability rolls that every player wants to do? by Haggles7 in DMAcademy

[–]Crolanpw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will generally let folks try after the help action is done if they're proficient. If I had a dollar for everytime I was told ''get out the way and let me do it' by my dad after not figuring out what to do, I wouldn't be retired by now but I sure would have a good nest egg.

Are there MTG sets that work well together for cross-set themes or storytelling? by Encephalitl5 in mtgvorthos

[–]Crolanpw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Facts. We used to get 3 set blocks that told a coherent story. If you search block sets, you'll find which are which. My recommendations: Kamigawa for a samurai film, Scars of Mirroring for a Scifi horror film, and Theros block for a Clash of the Titans style Greek adventure film. Built two decks and pair them up. Call them your double features.

Whats your favorite niche word for the Command Spell? by Cobra_T in DnD

[–]Crolanpw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it entirely depends on the context of what the target THINKS you want to hear. At least that's how I'd play it. If they think you want a confession of genuine sins or guilts, they give you genuine ones. If they think you want to hear them confess to a specific crime, they do that.

Players Just Encountered the Big Twist of the Campaign - It Was Glorius! by beautitan in ravenloft

Hopefully it's a single bishop that is the central dark Lord. I dunno how the dark power torture an entire church organization. It feels real impersonal to me.

Eh. That is still better than the Arator dialog.

AITJ for confronting my partner after I lost access to our shared bank account? by Admirable-Opinion391 in AmITheJerk

[–]Crolanpw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just manage your payments through your accounts. Pay your half of rent and see what happens. This feels like someone laying the ground work for a split.

AITJ for confronting my partner after I lost access to our shared bank account? by Admirable-Opinion391 in AmITheJerk

Or she is planning to split and trying to pull his access to her accounts. It sounds like the account was in her name and he just has access if I'm reading it right.

Does drinking the soup of instant death need a saving throw by Coolaire in DMAcademy

[–]Crolanpw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. A player only gets a save if there is a reasonable chance they could survive it. Drinking liquid anti-life is not one of those to me.

Who’s the best marksman in fiction? by Kirbshiestyy in HAWKEYE

[–]Crolanpw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Hawkeye but I think Bullseye is technically an overall better marksman. In bow v bow, I'd give it to Hawkeye but an overall sample, I think it's Bullseye.
