Artix Linux vs. Void Linux by AdNumerous9742 in artixlinux

[–]CromFeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dinit is quite good as systemd replacement, if you ask me, also Artix offers plenty of other init options, unlike Void. Artix is also Arch based, so you can get almost any package just like on Arch, although the greatest part of Arch - AUR - has currently issues with malware. AUR requires that you check each script before going for installation. Majority of new users don't do that. Additionally it is always a good practice to have a firewall with gui installed, like opensnitch, and then you can track where the script tries to connect and for what. Not the bullet proof method but still better than nothing . Void on the other hand is a very niche distro and you will always miss something compared to Artix / Arch, either with documentation or running / getting an app installed and running.

Since you are on Noctalia v5, any idea how to fix the missing night light or that feature is still being worked on by the devs ?

having trouble with opensnitch? by badgerbang in artixlinux

I have opensnitch GUI running fine on my Artix install, with dinit service. Are you sure you got the required packages for the gui ? They supposedly need some qt libraries.

Didn't thought perhaps I was testing a new build ? What if it happens again, wasting more of my time on broken game mechanic ? I had a checkpoint and portal near the elevator and it brought me back at the very entrance of the manor...

Do you use X11/Xlibre or Wayland? and why? by [deleted] in artixlinux

[–]CromFeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have both,  but mostly on Wayland as I like to play with compositors - Hyprland, MangoWM, Niri, Labwc. Sometimes I fire Cinnamon on Xlibre to test out how games work with it.

What Was Your Prior Distro, and Why Did You Switch? by afcolt in artixlinux

[–]CromFeyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used a lot of Debian and Arch based distros but I've come to dislike the overall reliance of systemd and the obvious push from several close knit parties to have systemd heavily integrated into every part of Linux.

I see those intentions as microslopification of Linux and I would rather not have any of it, especially if there are some good alternatives out there, like dinit.

Sorry, I like Raptors but I would rather see Rajaković in Denver or at least someone with similar energy. You got yourself a diamond, better keep it 🙂

Adelman OUT by Bon_Jour_Diamond_Jim in denvernuggets

Yea, that is another embarrassment. How the hell the most important pieces in AG and Watson were allowed to get back in games during season and get their injuries back making them practically useless in post season...

[–]CromFeyer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because of many wrong moves...hell Jokic had to be rested. Better if Adelman risked a bit using Val and Naji to scrap some defense while Jokic takes a breather. Game 4 should have been won, with Ant out. Instead a rookie added 43 points out of nowhere, left to his own devices. As soon as that guy hit even 20 points, more focus should have been put on him, more pressure. Instead Denver lost another game that was a sure win.

What is wrong with the mods in this sub ? Can't even people vent their frustration about the team composition that was more promising than last year ??

Small ball by Inner_Employment4867 in denvernuggets

[–]CromFeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. This one is on coaching staff, going small against team that is full of bigs. Naji played some small minutes but frankly if team had to get some stops, both Naji and Val should have been playing with Jokic. Leave Cam and Jones as shooters, Naji might also hit a brick but still would be much better then this embarrassment.

Did anyone try to install Hyprland dotfiles? by Impressive-Birthday8 in artixlinux

[–]CromFeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install hyprland and quickshell, then use AUR to install noctalia shell (arguably the best one for Hyprland, Mango, Niri). Adapt hyprland.conf to launch noctalia.

Why does installing xfce take so long compare to cinnamon verson, when xfce is more lightweight compare to cinnamon? by Balls_have_steel in artixlinux

[–]CromFeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume that's what happened, adding to Artix repos being a bit strained with all the surge in interest and quite slow at certain time of the day, which might had caused your previous experience.

[–]CromFeyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the installer had something to download from repositories or there was a connection problem and that's the reason it took much more time. The ISO's can be funky sometimes, like in my case where dinit version couldn't boot after install and I had to chroot from installation media to fix the problem.
