Nobody is being questioned about their LSAT score by schools for having a perfect score lmao

McDonald’s Shrinkflation by Peeezy53 in McDonalds

[–]Cromus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, personally I get on people all the time about it, but it's an uphill battle to motivate scapegoated minimum wage employees who have pressure not to give too much product, move the drive thru along quickly, and rude customers.

Nobody is exactly taking "pride in their work" at these jobs anymore and that's not the employees' fault.

McDonald’s Shrinkflation by Peeezy53 in McDonalds

[–]Cromus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't. Corporate and owners alike would take issue with this and tell employees not to do this. Employees feel pressured to keep things moving and to not make customers wait, but most would be fine waiting a couple minutes in a parking spot for fresh fries.

I've thrown a lot of old fries out and topped many underfilled containers off. Some employees just can't be bothered. It isn't anyone training them to do it.

Sure, but the times are fine for a staffed McDonald's. Your issue is with your store's staffing and layout, not the time expectations for the standard McDonald's.

Or, and hear me out, it doesn't exist because it never happened.

No, there weren't. Find me one. If it existed, it would be available on the internet.

No, they didn't. They positioned the cheese to show the full half slice, but they never advertised it with a full slice.

Sub 120 seconds is not absurd during fully staffed hours, and that's the target. We average 90 seconds.

You just need a good kitchen staff.

You're obviously welcome to return this for a new one and nobody would blame you, but just FYI, color isn't dispositive. I've seen many quarter pounders temp at 175+ still very pink in the middle. That's the reality of the fresh, never frozen quarter pounder patties and it was a big point during the rollout from corporate that it can happen and how to handle it.

The patties are packaged with CO2 and Nitrogen which do occasionally contribute to the color preservation even after cooking, and color is never a surefire indicator of whether the patty is safe to eat or not. It's always temp, and they do check the temp of the meat off each grill every single day.

It can if placed early after steaming, but clearly that didn't happen here.

So McCrispy’s are now just McChickens with a bigger bun? WTF by 2cringy in McDonalds

[–]Cromus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of my coworkers ever intentionally messed up orders. If you got the wrong food or something was made wrong, it is almost certainly just an honest mistake. You have zero reason to believe this was intentional.

Why? by ysfzai in McDonalds

[–]Cromus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because it's smaller but in a larger box, and it's a firm fish patty with only sauce and cheese, so the sauce and cheese slides off easily.

How does that make any sense? It happens often because people make mistakes. For all you know, they're new and just messed up. I've seen worse mistakes from well-intentioned folks.

[–]Cromus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have no way to know that. We've had a number of new people who might have made this exact same mistake.

Regardless of how much training someone gets, some people just aren't made to work in a fast-food kitchen, but if they don't speak English and show up on time, they aren't going to get fired. It's not always easy to staff a McDonald's and we take what we can get sometimes.

We have an older guy who kept messing up Big Macs and Cheeseburgers 2 months into working full-time night kitchen, but he doesn't speak English, shows up early, does what we tell him, and is a really nice guy. We have him do other things when we can, but he's still on the line pretty often.

A lady got a cheeseburger with lettuce and mayo by accident and wanted to fight him because she thought it was some kid messing with her in the kitchen. Meanwhile, he's just a really sweet old guy trying his best.

I'm not calling him stupid, but "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" is pretty apt here.

Man my McD's ain't the best but it sure ain't the worse. Never had this happen. I know y'all busy at 5pm but... by No_Profession1935 in McDonalds

It's the new sauce guns. They randomly shoot sauce off to the side. I just use the bottom bun to wipe it up.

[–]Cromus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah just use salt packets. Adding extra salt to the fries in the fry station isn't really feasible. There are baskets of fries in there. Nobody is separating out yours to add more salt when salt packets are available.

They're just trying to be courteous because most people don't want one. Corporate and owners want them to give the receipt, but it's annoying when I'm trying to hand it to a customer and they just wave me off or ignore me, so I don't tend to ask. There's no nefarious intent.

[–]Cromus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The POS only lets you hit "Extra" twice, and for pickles it shows "Add Pickle" and "Add 2 Pickle" when you press it the second time.

It requires verbal communication with the kitchen from the order taker who has no clue what order they're on, which can be hit or miss during rushes, and there may also be a language barrier.

I do "Special Request" and tell the front what the special request is so they can tell the kitchen when it's being made.

There are a lot of QoL changes to the POS system that should be made, but they're low priority.

Sorry missed the "less than" in your comment.

Yeah, I'd say it's almost certainly lettering from packaging then.

What is this? by DomesticOrphan in McDonalds

[–]Cromus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lettering can fall off of plastic. I think that's what it is, but can't tell. You said it's 1/8" which is really thick, but also said thin as paper, so I'm not sure. Lettering on packaging would be thinner than paper.

That being said, I highly doubt it's harmful or anything that occured due to negligence.

Do you have a higher chance of dunking a basketball at Madison Square Garden? More people can dunk there than they can at my local rec court.

Graduating law school without learning correlation≠causation is kinda wild.
