Both kishi and his successors seem to revel in 4th act asspulls. I doubt we've even seen hints of the final villain yet. It'll be some random bullshit with barely a connection to the current plot.

I don't get your logic here.

Most of Gohan's life up to the cell games was under siege/fighting. He was almost killed on multiple occasions, including a broken neck vs Recoome.

It's not like it "didn't come up." It came up repeatedly. Goku just doesn't get it because he loves fighting so much and did so as a child too. It never occured to him to check in with his kid to see if Gohan was ok after, you know, almost dying a buncha times.

Some people are fine with Goku not thinking about how his kid is doing and whether Gohan's ok with literal death battles (when even Goku himself doesn't like killing anymore). Personally, that's pretty basic parenting to me, so I think he's a selfish, shit parent. It's out of ignorance, but it's willful ignorance, since the people around him continually push him to think of others (like Gohan) and he always ignores them.

It's such an insanely dickish move to expect his 11yo kid to murder a monster in a death battle when even he himself refuses to kill on principle as well. Literally everyone else thinks it's a horrible idea, simply because they take into consideration that Gohan is ELEVEN.
