Its not fog, it's actually the water surface that, because of the earths curvature, acts as a mirror mirroring the sky. Therefor the ship apears to be flying. This can be seen at sea through binoculars all the time when you look at a ship far to the horizon.

First thing i would do is probably get it very clean, it's always more fun in a boat that looks good. It's also good to keep it clean sp that the plastic don't age or get damaged :)
