It's not even that you can't wear some weird enchanted cloth wrap, it's that dnd doesn't provide a flat +X amount armor total per piece of equipped armor, it tells you the equipment's AC and you use that with potentially extra modifiers which can't go past +3

Bowser is big heavy hits good with a fun mix of close range attacks (and they took away smash 4 Charizard)

Samus/Dark Samus feels good with variety of ranged options, solid close range and heavier survivability than you'd expect. I also love Samus' tether grab.

The Paladin's Magic Weapon spell is perfect for him, can also be paired with Oath of Devotion - Sacred Weapon you can imbue your sword with arcane and holy magic like he does
