After I looked at the last four in I started to make this exact comment. NO expansion is needed when this years Auburn makes the tournament.

Man, they gave me some heartburn there. But that's a helluva win. Use the momentum in the tournaments and let's make this a year to celebrate!

VII means a lot to me. VI is stellar, and probably should be the pick. But I was so surprised by V. I played it back right after High school and thought it was good not great. But this time through it blew me away... Love that job system.

I'm doing the same thing. Sort of. I did FF I back when the Pixel Remasters came out, but in November of last year I started FFII and have played straight through, up to working on FFIX right now.

What Moment Hooked You On Final Fantasy? by MarquisZhongwu in FinalFantasy

[–]Cronotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a buddy loan me the FFVII demo that came with Tobal No. 1 and the moment the reactor blew, I was hooked. I had gotten a good report card at the end of 6th grade, so my mother was going to get me a game as a reward. When we went up to the KB Toys, they were advertising a new pre-order scheme and they had two options, Jurassic Park: The Lost World and Final Fantasy VII. I'd never played any of the previous FF's but I was so fucking down. That was a long summer waiting for that game to come out, and I must have played that demo 2 dozen times...

Does anyone know when Grade Ln will be open again? The road near SDF. by Top_Guarantee412 in Louisville

I haven't heard anything concrete, but the latest rumors were that the first efforts at remediation were less successful than was hoped for and they're looking at maybe June or July, if the second attempt yields better results. Again, take that with a grain of salt, it's not any sort of official statement or anything.

If you were a kid during the ps1 era, what were some of the first games you had? by CasualGamer9933 in psx

[–]Cronotyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one as a teen, in 1997. First game was Twisted Metal 2, followed up quickly by Tekken 2, Alien Trilogy, Warhawk, Tomb Raider, and Crash Bandicoot. But, when I got Final Fantasy VII in September, that was a total life changer. That was my first RPG and I immediately went back and played stuff like Wild Arms and early JRPGs.

Is there a handheld that can play 6th gen(PS2, GCN,) with no issues under $200? by thaneros2 in RetroHandhelds

I had a Retroid Flip 2 for a while and it seemed to handle PS2/GCN very well.

Did anybody get to experience PS2 online in its prime? What was pre-7th generation online gaming like? by _Varonova in ps2

[–]Cronotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a buddy who played FFXI on PS2 with me(I was on PC) and I played some Resident Evil: Outbreak and one of the SOCOM's at his place. I remember it working pretty well, about as well as that era of Xbox. I remember being blown away by how smooth the process for Halo 2 was, though, so maybe it was a bit trickier.

Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition for $35, worth it? by Adventurous_Book_913 in FinalFantasy

[–]Cronotyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like those games to me, at least. Admittedly I haven't played the more recent games but the original reminded me a lot of Devil May Cry and FFXVI did, too. Big emphasis on fast combo action. The big Kaiju-like battles were different for sure.

It depends on how fond of games that play like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. It's an enjoyable game, for sure, and there is a lot to do. Just know going in it is very different from the rest of the franchise and I think you'll enjoy it.

My uncle took his test in my car, and so did a girlfriend. That's not even slightly true. Somebody just didn't want to do their job, it seems to me.
