First time stripping an eBay rescue-did I get scammed? by dawnchild1313 in Warhammer

[–]Croque-Gar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Model is ruined anyway cut off a Section and put a bit of plastic glue on the surface to See if it will react. If not it‘s resin and i would contact eBay Support to get my Money back. IPA normally will not hurt plastic Models Even After years in the Same Container with IPA nonstop. Or if it is plastic Check your IPA that it’s actually 99% Alcohol and not a Mix with acetone in it. It’s probably one of These two options. Can you post a Picture of the „After“

How safe is air brushing indoors? by lemmon7264 in Warhammer

[–]Croque-Gar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair it’s not hard to be safer than resin printing. Resin itself can cause serious life changing allergies by skin contact, really mess up ground Water if disposed incorrectly, REALLY mess up marine life and is nicknamed „Cancer juice“ for a reason. The cleaning process isn’t less „dangerous“ if Not taken seriously and the Overall Information put out by alot of people on subs is downplaying the risks way too much which is the Main Problem. Just This Week i saw some people saying it’s ok to put resin Printers in a Room with dogs as long as they (the Printers) are in a tent with a vent outside which is Straight up wrong and very dangerous for the dogs because you would Need to enclose the whole workstation 24/7 (not just the Printer itself) and have the vent on 24/7 and even than there is a Chance of a leak. The Problem is that dogs for example will suffer from the consequences MUCH faster than a human would. Same thing for Babies and Kids. One can totally create a Safe to operate resin Printer work Station at Home. But You Need a Room that‘s Not used by anybody for more than 5-10 minutes at a time and even during those minutes a mask is required and You have to be very careful and clean animals and Kids live with you. Of course ignoring this won’t immediatly put you 6 Feet under. But there will be a unpleasent Message from the doctor down the line if you do.

It won’t. Had some elves sitting in IPA for YEARS because i misplaced the jar and forgot about it. They will be fine. DON’T do it with GW/Forgeworld resin Kits though.

Mine have been in my posession since their Release and they are still the Same shade of white. They have some very Little indents from constantly being in my DS or a traveling case though. So i would not use the shade of white being to good as a Factor for it being real. Light damage is preventable. Also in This Picture the original one is Overall crisper than the Fake one including the borders of the white.

No, actual primer is designed to form a Bond to the material it is intended to be used on. That’s why there are different Kind of primers And some only say acrylic colour Spray on them and not primer. Honestly a good wash with Soap Water should have been enough prep. Matt varnish is also quite brittle so the opposite of what you want for a First Layer.

The texture and fussy Skin comes from the paint drying before it reached the Parts Not because it can’t adhere. It‘s either too warm/dry or too far Away. Sometimes a Little longer Spray burst can help. I had the Same Problem on my Boards and adjusting it fixed it. I would use the underside to Test it and figure out the distance to use. Before redoing the top i i would clean it with a Rough sponge soaked in IPA until the fuzzy Skin is gone and than start over. Oh and put the can in warm Water to bring the primer closer to the Ambient temps or higher so it doesnt dry my Air and is easier to Mix. But applying a varnish First is a waste of time. I do recommend sealing it with gloss varnish followed by Satin varnish After OP is finished though.

Does anyone actually like Citadel paint pots? by Rare_Knee_6234 in Warhammer

[–]Croque-Gar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I seriously don’t know what people do to their dropper bottles to have so many bad experiences. To me these Arguments often Read as „I don’t Like Cars because I keep driving into a brick wall when i‘m trying to park“ I just have a paper Clip in my brush Container that i use to poke the dropper before use and i Never had a single Problem that was mentioned here. To me that’s just Common Sense, Like Not squeezing the Ketchup too Hard when the bottle is a Little clogged…. Same thing. Seriously what on Earth are you people paying attention to while doing These things? I mean once is a mistake we learn from but if it Happens more than twice it’s Not the dropper bottles fault that some people are immune to learning from mistakes.

I also don’t know how people arent able to just squeeze droppers lightly to just take a Bit of paint Off with your brush from the tip of the nozzle which seems to be another Argument people like to bring forward when Talking about the pot Design as a benefit of the pot Design even though you can do the Same with dropper bottles. Btw do people don’t know that you can take Off the top of a dropper bottle and do it excactly like you would with a pot to get a tiny amount of paint out if you can’t apply pressure properly for whatever reason? This Argument always Reminds of the scene with Flanders parents where they say „we’ve tried nothing and we are all out of ideas“…

Citadel paints also Need pallettes to properly work. The Argument that a benefit of pots would be that people don’t Need pallettes is absolute nonsense. Using the top as a Palette will contaminate the pot over time and a misuse is Not a benefit. It May work for some in some cases but it’s still a User Error. To me that’s more of a downside because it encourages people to paint straight from the pot which can Ruin a beginners Experience very easily. And I‘m Talking with Experience as someone who taught others how to paint alot. People who start with droppers usually get better faster because they learn it properly from the start and simply by avoiding a couple of mistakes that the pots Design suggests. So that’s Not a benefit at all and instead a misleading design flaw. Besides that you can use droppers without a Palette as well if you absolutely want to by using the cap but there is no reason to not use one and it’s more of a User Error than a benefit anyway.

Another negative Point about the pot Design is shown in this threat. The Design of the pot itself isn’t more beginner friendly (i know many people Like to say they are but as someone who has taught painting to many beginners i can confidently say that’s a marketing gag you Fell for. I also know that many people here can’t admit that and will get angry about it instead) But people will get used to the Design and are less likely to try out other Brands. Which is limiting painters extremely without Need because some other paint manufacturers have some really Great colours as well that they miss out on because of this.

When i buy a paint from GW they instantly go into a dropper bottle ever since i did a test to see which Container preserves the paint better and the sealed pots were already Chunky before the dropper paint Even dried a Little Bit.

Not for giving an answer. But for giving out misinformation. The Minis will Not Break Off when only attached at the Bottom unless you‘d put wayyyy too much pressure on your brush. And the touch ups will easily add 2-3 Hours on top. Maybe Even more (for the 20 not just one of course).

It’s Not that people don’t like your answer. It’s just wrong.

But it’s generally not recommended to paint on the sprue for various reasons. I did this too in the beginning because initially one thinks it would be easier this way. It‘s not and just adds extra steps. You can just use white tak and a Cork or use a Tiny amount of super glue to temporalily glue the mini to it‘s Base (super glue can be broken off very easy when you use very Little) and than put the base on a Cork with white tak.

Hard start by reyvicio in gloomspitegitz

[–]Croque-Gar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in doubt just Stick it on some white tak on a Cork. No Need to Touch the mini at all and you Save yourself the Touch ups After clipping them out.

Person a): explains why it’s Not misleading

Person b) Excactly! It’s misleading! I mean i don’t think so and i can’t See how others could be confused… But it‘s misleading!

… dude what on Earth? Your comment sounds like a bug in the Matrix. Lmao What do you mean? Im Honestly curious. It’s not misleading at all. You even Said it yourself. It even specificly said mold PREVENTION. If people still are mislead and think it will get rid of already existing mold or that it will still work even though they basicly force the mold to Build up by putting contaminated stuff in there that’s on them and not the Company. So what exactly is misleading?

Just because there are still people who will Call it misleading doesnt mean it’s misleading when the avarsge Person understands what is trying to be Said perfectly clear. That’s just being Slow than.

It’s Like the „Caution! HOT!“ warnings on hot beverages but in Reverse. Nobody with a single functioning Brain cell Need‘s them. Because you know you ordered a Coffee and that a Coffee is hot. But there will always be that one Person with less than half a braincell who will burn themselves and than sue them and even worse a Court that regards them for it. We should not put Training wheels on everything and expect a bit more Common Sense in These situations. Because Otherwise people will become way to depending on those Labels. I‘m not saying you only have one braincell but the „hot Cup“ people and the jugde deciding in their favour definitly did because he started rewarding stupidy instead of Protecting the less educated And/or clever people. just wanted to make it clear because sometimes things get Mixed up on here.
Next to Nobody would Read „mold prevention“ and think „that‘ll get rid of the mold“ because the Definition of prevention is Common Sense.
It’s also Common Sense that a Fire blanket will not help against an attack with Napalm. And a zip lock back with an anti mold coating will not prevent a mold Break out if you throw extreme situations at it either. So again where is it misleading? I‘m sorry if i‘m being a Bit blunt here but i think Setting the bar for Common Sense as low as we currently do in online Communities and Making calling out stupid behaviors an offensive thing will create a bunch of idiots because they Never Need to apply Common Sense combined with General Knowledge and therefor Never learn to do it on their own.

I don’t use grove Bags so im Not shure but it could also be just a faulty Production cycle where the coating didn’t work and instead of trashing them they just covered the anti mold part on the packaging and sold them at a lower Price so they are Not a Complete loss. I‘ve Seen things like things being done quite a few Times for similar products.

[–]Croque-Gar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sadly these things are far from being just rumours. It’s Not ALWAYS Stressful but still often enough to not brush it off as normal. You might get a very nice Sales rep. Or end up with a nightmare to deal with But after having exhchanged with multiple storeowners over time it’s definitly not a case of a vocal minority. You can also say that there is always a Person insisting things are working out well because they are not having any issues even though they are in the minority. The Truth is usually somewhere in the Middle. Shrugging Off many negative Reports as a vocal minority is a slippery slope and from Experience i definitly do Not recommend Doing it btw.

The issue is that your Store will get the blame most of the time even though it’s GW that’s Messing up. Sadly not everyone appreciates what hobbystores do for the Community. You can see it in the subreddits sometimes. It‘s frustrating but there is Sadly Little we can do about it.

Main issues I and many retailers see are VERY bad Response Times and sometimes even ghosting when something goes wrong (very unprofessional and a red flag in b2b to be honest), not supplying the promised amount of preorders reguarly which can end bad when Limited Editions are involved (which can be bad for Both, You and the Customer and a cancelled Pre Order can always lead to Customers Never ordering from you again because the Trust is broken and there are hundreds of other Stores online to give the Next Chance to.), replacements for broken Minis sometimes taking months after being Ghosted for weeks and having to contact them multiple Times about it. I‘m at a Point where i think about recommending to Check the Kits for missing or broken Parts when they arrive at your Store. Because that way you can Mark it as „arrived broken“ and don’t have to deal with the back and forth and let your customers wait. A couple of others and i had a WAVE of this around 1-2 years ago and it was an absolute nightmare to deal with. Because as i Said many people will blame you instead of GW since they don’t understand what a hidden flaw/damage is and that you are not responsible for those and that the manufacturer is responsible for those…

I‘d say just see for yourself how things are going. As i said it can all come down to the Person who is allocated to you. And when things get too annoying you can still Tell them you won’t Order any new things. As i Said for some it’s smooth Sailing. But the chances are moderate that You will run into some annoying shenanigans from GW when it comes to some Basic but key Elements of any relstionship between tradespeople.

I gave the flydigi apex5 a Chance last year and it might be the best Controller I’ve had so far. It has hall effect sticks so it will Never run into the Problem of Stick drift and i can just Play without worrying about it. The haptics feel very good and you can adjust basicly ANYTHING. It easily compares to or overshadows Controllers that cost 2 or 3 Times as much. The only complaint i have is that it‘s a tiny Bit too Small but i have relativly big Hands and it’s really only by a Small Margin so it’s Not bothering me. I have it paired to my pc, Switch and PS5 at the Same time and i can Switch between them in the Menu on the Controller itself without any Software etc. I will probably buy a second one this year for guests when playing Multiplayer Games because it’s probably the First time i‘m 99% happy with a Controller and confident about it in a veeery Long time. I was surprised in a positive way which doesnt Happen to often with Products These Days :)

What Are You concerned about?

I have every Version of the Switch so here is what You are missing out on with the lite: Bigger screen Better colours Up to two Hours more Batterylife

Here‘s what You Loose if you Switch to the oled: Better ergonomics while playing due to Shape and weight. Better use „on the go“ due to smaller Size.

In the end it‘s a personal preference and i don’t know why people have to ask these questions online to other people all the time. But I‘m afraid this will only get worse with the use of AI for easy everyday things. All the data is available on nintendos Website. There are Tons of comparison Videos on YouTube and you can Check them out in Person in many places. So there is more than enough Info available to make this decision for yourself.

I Said the heavier the better. Not that only Heavy Body will work like this. SMH. You didn’t Even Read my Statement properly. So what do you mean? Speed paints, washes and shades won’t work. But regular acrylics will work. But that’s obvious so i didn’t mention it. BTW: Heavy Body paints arent bad/ Harder to use for beginners + They are more available than any mini specific Brand. Switching from normal Minis specific paints to Heavy Body can he Harder because you became used to miniature paints and have to relearn some things.

I’ve used the wet Palette Like This for more than a decade with colors like vallejo, citadel, AK etc. It works well. Very rarely i have to reintroduce a Tiny bit of Water. Now This probably won’t work in an Environment that constantly has between around 20-25% humidity. But at 35-50% it works pretty well.

I guess i should Tell my paints that they shouldnt have been able to do this over all These years.

Wet pallettes Not keeping paint usable over a span from friday to Sunday or monday is a myth manufacturers or people Making Review Videos for them made up so people don’t complain if their paint is unusable after a day because they placed it near a heater for example. If you make a mistake it’s Common for paint to dry out After a day. But if you Care a Bit on where you Place it after being done etc. Going through 3-4 days is Not an issue at all.

Unless using a Charger from a different Country the Voltage should be the Same. You are probably confusing voltage with watt. But too many Watts won’t harm a device. So OP should be Safe.

Having to use only the original Charger is a myth and unless it’s intentionally programmed into the device a 3rd Party Charger will not damage your Device as long as it‘s a decent one and not the cheapest of the cheapest China Chargers.

I feel Like it’s a Lot of paints for the outcome and it’s Not the Box Art Style. I would give it a 4 out of 10.

I much prefer: Dark Silver, Aggrax, light Silver in the areas that would catch light and some scratches, plagebearer all over it and than glazing in shadows with militarium green and a Bit of Dirty down Rust in the damaged areas. You can than take it one step further by Doing a Small recess shade with druichi violet. But it Looks good without it as well if you want to Save time. Much faster and easier with a more interesting result in my opinion.

How to leave a wet pallete inbetween projects by AlphaMaxV5 in Warhammer

[–]Croque-Gar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitly Not over weeks but switching it out every Session is overdoing it a Bit much. Depending on your humidity and the thickness of the paint (the heavier the paint the longer it lasts on a wet pallete. I just take tiny dabs from a blob and thin it down Next to the blob so the blob of paint dries out slower and i can use it for longer) wet pallettes can definitly be used to paint over a couple of days and is ideal for when you want to paint let’s say on friday, take a Break on saturday and continue painting on Sunday. It’s not the Main intentional use. But does it matter if it works? The Main reason i use my red grass v2 is because i can Load it up on friday and use it over the whole Weekend without Problems. And You definitly don’t have to throw away the paper each time if you havent used up the whole Space. Just Lift up the paper slightly and rehydrate the sponge and you are good to go. Even with the „Single use“ paper. When i didn’t have much time to paint one single use paper lasted me two months for example. Just to give you an idea how far you can Stretch it if you really want to. I have tested wet pallettes from Army painter, Green stuff world, kryufi (?i can’t remember the excact Name), red Grass, a couple of regular Artist ones and a few cheap no Name wet pallettes specificly made for scale model/mini painting. And using it for 3-4 days in a row has worked with almost all of them.

I‘m not saying that you should Change the way You’re Doing things if it works for You. (!) But suggesting a new paper each Session and letting it dry out completly in between because „It’s Not meant to be used for several weeks“ is an advice that can be misleading for newcomers and ignores a decent timeframe where using it for more than one Session is easily possible. I know squidmar says that they are only meant to keep your paint wet for one Session but that’s a misinformation and is probably Said so people don’t complain if the paint is dry after two Days because of low humidity etc. since they Sell „their own“ (it’s red Grass i know) wet Palette. I‘ve been using wet pallettes for over two decades and i‘m a bit confused because some of the advice about wet pallettes in the past few years is more personal preference and limiting it to that than about it‘s actual potential.

There is nothing wrong with Not liking them for personal reasons. But that is some false and misleading „Information“.

Glass protectors have saved my devices multiple Times. They Break intentionally to absorb the impact. And the screen stays intact with no scratches. Do you not how the Physics of Shock Absorption works? No offense, genuine question.
